Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback

well kwh per year used is most accurate if you have that info, I expect most people dont, I tend to enter amount I spent last quarter but then when I click the more info button I look at the prices per unit and work it out myself.0

We are with Sainsbury's Energy and have been told that their partnership with Scottish Power ends on 21 August, after which we will be billed by Scottish Power directly. Does this mean that I can't "switch" to a Scottish Power capped rate (and get cashback) because I am effectively already with them?0

Can anybody tell me the best supplier to be with for the Economy 10 electricity tariff.0

I'm fed up with the comparison sites too. Entered the same details for all of them and came up with a capped tariff of
energyhelpline : Eon saves me £118 per year
moneysupermarket: Eon (same tariff) I lose £106 per year
uSwitch: Eon (again) I save £115 per year.
I'm with EDF and pay by monthly dd. They give me a dd discount and a dual fuel discount p.a.
I checked both my current supplier's tariffs as am on standard now but only since my dual fuel capped tariff ended in March 2008 (the sites are based on your being on the same tariff for the last 12 months).
How can I work this out? I can't move to Eon if moneysupermarket are right!0 -
I'm having the same problem, pigeonpie
All the checkers give me different savings, and that's when using the Kwh figures
Bizarrely I cannot really work out how the Kwh figures with (a) the bills my Dad gets presently on EDF Saver 2008 nor (b) what the figures are for EDF and Scottish Power 2009 price fixed dealsWise beneath my years0 -
Tillster, try calling EDF as they are usually pretty helpful and right now (on the back of 20% tariff increases) probably even more so. I'm going to get the Kwh breakdown on the new tariffs directly from them (ie what's last month's usage on the new tariffs), then call the others (eg Eon or Scottish Power) and ask them too to calculate my last bill on their tariffs - and hope they work it out properly and tell me the truth!
I've concluded that the energy switching sites are a waste of time and misleading, which is a great pity. Their cashback is actually less than EDF pay me for paying dual fuel and by dd.
I'll post again if the capped tariffs are actually cheaper than EDF.0 -
Just incase any one is dithering you should know that npower has removed all its fixed/capped tariffs from today. I rang as I wanted to switch to npower one or to their offer which was on the web for existing customers to be fixed at 0% until march 09 but they have pulled both deals. I asked if they could do anything else but they said no so I have switched to Southern Electric dual fuel fixed discount 2010 online which gives fixed price until 31/7/2010. I was unable to do anything worthwhile on any of the switching companies.0

I have a capped tariff with Scottish Power which runs out in December. Should I wait until then to change my tariff or should I change it now, before these tariffs stop?:cool:0

I'm on economy 7 with E-on because my building used to have storage heaters-it doesn't anymore so i'm wondering if i could get a better deal. Is it possible to switch when you're on e-7 as the u-switch website doesn't seem to like comparing it so much.
Anyone managed to do this successfully???
Most of the comparison websites allow for Economy 7. Some ask you to tick a box - but this isn't always on the 1st page.
One thing to watch out for - some sites assume %ages for your day/night split. Make sure you change this to your actual %age split (say over the last year) to give a more accurate comparison.
We use economy 7 and had no problems.0 -
Having fixed electricity a while ago, there appears to be no capped option for gas only.
Anyone know of one?0
