Question
I'm on a Price Fix 2008 NSC online with Southern Electric - This is for both utilities.
This runs out Oct/Nov 2008 I believe and I am concerned that I cannot find any tarriff through them that offer an option to fix my tarriff again.
Do I fix with another company? Will it cost to get out of my current Price fix? Etc Etc.
I have done some comparisons and on the cheapest fix price my bills will go up over £275.00 per year - OUCH
Please advise on solutions to this as I starting to be rather concerned.
Thanks

Hi, I keep listening to Martin telling us to get our fuel prices capped and have been on the suggested sites.
At the moment we are with British Gas and Scottish Power and have never changed suppliers in all our years as home owners. We are paying in total just under £1500 a year by monthly direct debits.
The suggested changes would be going with E-On or British gas on dual fuel. However, I am 60 in September and notice that E-ON does and Age Concern dual fual which seems good. What do you all think?
Your opinions would be much appreciated.
Thank you0 -

Maths was never my strongest point. What inflation is expected in the new year?
I'm trying to work it out, but wondering whether to leave it. If I phone up Eon and ask them whether it is worth me going to capped, are they likely to give me an unbiased view for my account?
The - is a minus sign so your be paying more.0 -

Thanks, yes I realise that, but what I meant was, I am just not sure whether when the prices start increasing whether it will be worth capping it.0 -

If you've never changed, it would certainly be worth it.
As we're so close to September, why not investigate the Age Concern options now? Although it may not be the cheapest rate, experience of some of my older relatives tells me the service is very good.
I know someone who changed to them earlier this year for dual fuel, having never changed before. Apart from much lower bills, they had a bonus cash back (£15 if under 70) plus a goodie box of low energy bulbs.
Worth a look - try your local Age Concern shop or drop in centre. If not, you can phone them to get details.0 -

I'm also on the same deal as Suzs and in the same predicament! Can anyone advise us? The deal we're on is fixed until 30th November 2008. Thanks.0 -

I am totally confused as to what to do myself. We are with npower and Energy helpline said our cheapest supplier would be with British Gas Click Energy 5, but having been there before, I will NEVER gp back to them! E.ON seemed ok but I'm just not sure. My partner will be 65 in Jan, (I haven't reached the 60's yet) so whether this has any bearing or not I'm not sure. Our quarterly spend so far is 147.35 (not direct debit at present). The more I read the more confused I get!0 -
I have tried to get a quote with Scottish Power, however it does not offer me the Fixed Price Energy 2009 Dual Fuel. I also tried with my parents address and usage - still not offered. Does this mean they have removed it, even though it is still offered as a product on their website? Or do you have to phone up for it? Anyone else found this?
I am not sure if I will fix, or take the risk on their best discounted tariff, but I did rather fancy £72 Quidco cash-back!0 -
