Did mine about 10 days ago. Never got an email from EDF but received a welcome pack in the post in approximately 5-7 days. If I logged back into the energyclub I could see my swtich was in progress.

I called up EDF and they confirmed mine is 'in progress'. I never got an email so its all very confusing.

I have switched via moneysupermarket so hopefully get the £30 cashback.

e.g. I am on British Gas Online Variable August 2014 - the cheap energy club states it will cost be £44 more for me to change to EDF March 2014 fixed tariff. Is this £44 more based on what I am paying now or what I will be paying next month when the prices increase? It's not really very clear and it could make a big difference to my choice.

    Can someone help please? :-)

It will almost certainly compare with the current price, to show what you will pay compared to what you currently pay.

  • British Gas supplied my gas fuel for c.40 years, Npower/Electricity Board supplied my electricity for c.40 years. I decided to switch my gas to Npower to get cheaper bills and duel fuel discount. After 9 months, Npower could not provide me with an active Gas account. I gave up and switched everything to British Gas. The Electric transferred without any problems but it is now 14 weeks and I still don't have a Gas account. Anyone else waited this long? I don't know whether I should look for another supplier and switch again, British Gas just keep telling me not to be concerned!

Ok, that does make it less accurate though in a way.

Because whilst it may cost be £44 extra now to switch, what I actually want to know is what is the price difference compared with my current supplier after the increase? I suppose I can just add 10% on to my current direct debit as a rough guide and that'll give me the annual increase, but it would be good if this was factored in! It's almost two different things - new suppliers vs your current rate and new suppliers vs the increased rate your current tarriff will change to. Hopefully this makes sense!

If anyone can 100% confirm that the Cheap energy Club doesn't take into account increases on your current tariff, that would be great!

I've tried to find threads relevant to my query but can't find one. Tried to post new thread but don't know what buttons to push. Very frustrating. Can anyone help me please?

My 'problem' is that I am £1215 in credit with NPower - when I switch to fixed term does all the money get transferred over or do they credit my bank account? A nice problem to have but not one that seems covered in the forums.

Learn how to use the forum by clicking here.

Ask nPower for your excess credit to be returned to you, if they won't then switch to a new supplier and you will start from scratch and nPower will have to refund your credit.

nPower should refund you the credit balance when they determine your final bill as you switch over.
    This is from their FAQ's:
Will I receive a refund if I have a credit balance when my monthly Direct Debit is reassessed?

If your statement refers to your annual review, we'll automatically refund any credit balance over £60 to your bank account within 10 working days, if it is based on an actual meter reading (taken by you or our meter reader). Please
remember however that if you take both fuels from us and you have a debit balance on one account and a credit on the other, we will use the credit balance to reduce the debt on the first account.

When was your last annual review?

  • Thank you espresso and victor2 for responding so promptly.

What is an annual review? I usually find I'm in credit after the summer (and what a hot one we had - I normally put heating on in July but didn't this year).

I only switched to them in April 2013 and since then they have done readings and I've given them readings. They'll have to do a final reading as I've now switched to a fixed term with EDF so I assume that they will just credit my bank account after the final bill comes out? I got the £1215 in credit figure from their website when I logged into my account recently.

(espresso - I went onto that link and it just appears to show me how to navigate around the forum, not to actually 'post a new thread'. I'm sure it's just me being stupid, but I just was hoping for a button which said 'new thread' or something).

You should get your nPower credit when you get your final invoice.

To start your own thread, on the board that you wish to post e.g. Gas & Electricity click on the

newthread.gif button on the left hand side, just below the board header.

The annual review is usually done on you contract anniversary, so you won't be due for one yet. As you're leaving nPower, it should all be sorted out after you get your final bill from them.
