If you're on a fixed tariff with Ovo then you'll get a full winter at the rates you are locked in to if you don't leave.
Use a comparison site with your annual kWh usage to see how currently available tariffs look. Compare the costs shown for available tariffs with your current one plus the exit fees. Then take a guess at what the fixed tariffs will be next June - add 10% to the current offers perhaps? - and see how that compares to the extra you would pay this winter on a new tariff plus your exit fee. Remember winter usage is always significantly higher than summer usage.
I'm in a similar position and have concluded I will wait and benefit from another winter at presently unbeatable rates (and I don't have an exit penalty). After all, that is why I chose a fixed tariff in the first place.
Just my opinion of course. :)

I think I will wait it out too, hope the fixed price good deals come back next year.

If you are with Ovo until June 2014. you only switched (or agreed another 12 month deal) a few months ago.

That would have been the time to check the Ovo deal was the best one for you. If it was the best deal then, I doubt you will find a better deal today.
The OVO deal was the best deal in March but the deals had changed since then and OVO deal wasnt the best anymore.:(

I've applied npower dec 2017 through top cashback - £52.50 cashback and it was the cheapest of big 6 anyway according to comparison. Are they bound to honour applications madebefore they pull it (which I guess they will soon)

That was funny.. I had an EDF Blue price promise until September 2014. I went on the EDF site and did a comparison check and it worked out £2 a month cheaper if I was on the Blue price promise until March 2015 so I changed today. That should also cover me for two winters at a fixed price.
  • I fixed around 2 weeks ago with npower till 2017, got £55 cashback from TopCashBack at the time and it tracked.

I could have fixed till 2015 and it would of been slightly cheaper - but i think with the economy on the upward trend that energy prices will continue to increase every 12-18 months.

Yes - they will honour it.

It's just replaced the cheaper March 2017 fix, after they announced their price increase, so it should be around for a little while yet.

Has anyone switched recently with moneysupermarket. I made the switch to Edf blue on Tuesday and within a few mins got the confirmation email from moneysupermarket that my details have been passed to Edf. Since then I've not received any more corresponspdence. I was hoping some email from Edf but not received anything.

Has my application been lost in the system and should I apply again?
  • I also switched on Tuesday with cheapenergyclub to Npower but have heard nothing since

I got an email from nPower the day after I switched from MoneySuperMarket to confirm my email address.

I suggest you call EDF and ask them if they have your application in their system.
  • The NPower site is a real pain to use - their "switch tariff" option is

    1 - Hard to find
2 - Works like you are a new customer, or at least feels that way

Anyway, just had a reply from the man himself:

    "<me>
@MartinSLewis Please can you confirm if your energy club works if you switch to a deal from the same supplier that you are already with?

    Martin Lewis ‏@MartinSLewis 46s
@<me> yes but you may not get the cashback"

    Phew!

    HOLD ON EVERYONE...
Well according to the TopCash website it states this:

"NPOWER CASHBACK can be earned simply by clicking through to the merchant and shopping online as normal".

So Why Use any CashBack site???

    Martin can you confirm? :money:
