Has anyone switched recently with moneysupermarket. I made the switch to Edf blue on Tuesday and within a few mins got the confirmation email from moneysupermarket that my details have been passed to Edf. Since then I've not received any more corresponspdence. I was hoping some email from Edf but not received anything.

Has my application been lost in the system and should I apply again?

Did mine about 10 days ago. Never got an email from EDF but received a welcome pack in the post in approximately 5-7 days. If I logged back into the energyclub I could see my swtich was in progress.

  • Hi im due to switch to npower from Scottish power in the next month. However I want to switch at end of December as my old (cheaper fix) runs till end December. How can I stall the switching process for around a month? Thanks

Your problem is the NPower offer may finish any moment now. They have the longest fixed term deal until Dec 2017. Therefore I would sign up for NP ASAP. Whether you have exit fees or not you can get £52 CashBack with Topcashback website, but this deal with this website ends today or tomorrow. (You have to type in the word NPower otherwise the deal won't come up automatically like other gas/electric companies (don't know why, maybe they are limiting it now as ending tomorrow)

It takes about 6 weeks to switch, so if you apply now you will switch to NP by the end of December so you won't miss out too much with the deal with your old supplier. The main thing is to Switch ASAP before the NP deal expires as Martin warns us other good fixed deals have.

See my post 2762, I believe this discount is still available if you contact NPower by phone, (almost impossible at the moment) or their online site. I browsed online & completed the details for a quote & they rang me back next day.
  • Thanks for your reply. I have already signed up for the switch to npower so have secured their fix. Thing is, the scheduled date for the actual switch is mid November. This is around 6 weeks earlier than I wanted as my existing (cheaper) scot power deal runs till end of the year. So - anyone know of any good delaying tactics to enable the switch to happen a few weeks late? Thanks

    NO.
You either do it now or risk the fix being pulled.

You`re better off than me anyway, I`m currently fixed `til the end of Feb 14 but I`ve still gone ahead to switch to EDF March 15 but I`ll lose about 9 weeks on my current rate.

The only hope of a further delay may be the sheer amount of people switching and they can`t cope.

The only thing that would stop it, is if you were in debt with Scottish Power. They would make you stay until you released the money you owe them. However, there is no guarantee that NP will wait for this & give you a later date, or that the deal will still be there a few weeks later when you sign up with NP again.
  • Hi,
Ive used the cheap energy club to find a better deal, think I wanna fix long term...
However I'm due two cheques from first utility after my November bill.
Does anyone know if I'll still get these if I switch now?
They amount to £200 so wanting to be sure I will not have any problems getting them. (I dont want to call them and wouldn't trust those call centre staff - so would rather find out from someone with experience)
  • The cheque/s are for the cashback for the duel fuel discount i should have said.
  • Hello, trying this post in here...

When you use the cheap energy club comparison does it take in to account the price hike you are going to be paying when prices go up on your current account?

e.g. I am on British Gas Online Variable August 2014 - the cheap energy club states it will cost be £44 more for me to change to EDF March 2014 fixed tariff. Is this £44 more based on what I am paying now or what I will be paying next month when the prices increase? It's not really very clear and it could make a big difference to my choice.

    Can someone help please? :-)
