U.Switch is currently offering a free case of wine for moving, however if i try to use Quidco or Cashback kings, i cant get the "free wine" site, only the normal site.
can i assume that i cant get both?
  • Beware!! Moneysupemarket.com has stopped the £30 cashback as of Monday 31 March. No longer available when I tried to switch on 01 April (in the evening!)
  • I am trying desperatly to cut about £300 from my monthly spending. I have read through the article on switching but I can't see any guidance on how often to switch. I switched to Southern Electric duel fuel about 4 months ago, but everyone has changed their prices since then. Is there any guidance how often I should be looking to switch?

I guess you would ideally switch (or at least check the deal you are on) every time there is a round of price increases.
Unless, of course, you are in a minimum contract or get a bonus after 12 months, etc.
I've heard someone else say that you only get the cash back once, though, so you won't benefit from that if you got it last time. Though I guess you could use a different switcher to get cashback from.
  • Hello

I've done three comparisons this month and am finding that the results on the three comparison websites are roughly the same for which supplier they recommend but the savings vary from £71, £55 and £2 for changing to the same supplier and tariff.

I therefore did a quick calculation of my KwH used per annum using the tariff of the best recommendation and my results were different again to the three websites results.

All in all I've lost faith in the three comparison sites. Has anyone else had the same problem and found an answer to the anomalies?

    Regards

But I dont understand why Energyhelpline and MoneySupermarket have given different saving quotes for the same energy provider. I.e. MoneySuperMarket says that Ebico is my best deal, but EngeryHelpLine puts them sixth on my list and said N Power was my best deal. Does Anyone Know Why This Is?[/quote]
  • I am on Scottish Power Online Dual Fuel tariff 3

I had a new heating system installed exactly 1 year ago,and today visited all 3 comparison sites, entering KWH.

The one which doesn't ask what your tariff name is Uswitch - gave me a false instruction to switch and alleged savings of £50. The others told me to stay put with Scottish Power.

I have checked my expected future annual cost with the recently increased tariff rate for Dual Fuel Online Energy 3 =£535 (small flat)

Both Moneysupermarket & Energy helpline agreed that EON would be £10 more

So I found Uswitch to be misleading because it does not ask what tariff you are on now.

I am about to move into a new house, is there any way I can try to find cheapest suppliers for my area without knowing exactly how much gas + elec I will use?
    Thank you!

I know there is at least one comparison site which accommodates for people in the same position as yourself. It basis your consumption on the size of your home by asking for details of same. Problem is I can't remember which site it is. If you hang around someone on here is bound to clarify this.

EDIT: Just had a look for you, Uswitch is one, see here http://www.uswitch.com/Energy/Popups/E_StaticPopup.aspx?ref=chd~Energy~Index&panelID=JustMovedIn&i=1&popup=true

Also I believe there is cashback at Quidco if you go to Uswitch via them.
