    Keep you informed!
I to have both online accounts ready to start ,the only difference is,its not ready for meter readings. But the first direct debit which stated a £10 reduced amount than my previous provider!!!!!!!So when they both come out lets make us smile:rotfl: or two:rotfl: .No bills sent to me yet from finishing the two previous providers.I bet they do?!!!
I have now reached stage 2 with E.On, which was giving them my actual meter numbers for both gas and electric, which I have now done online. Plus EDF called me and made a (half hearted 5 seconds) attempt at retaining me and also wrote to me saying bye bye. As soon as I said 'I tried to stay with EDF but was told you can't match E.On' he gave up easily on the phone and pretty much said that was true. So much for wanting customer loyalty!

I am in a bit of a quandry, tried all the comparison sites and they all show that British Gas is the cheapest for me against Scottish power , I tried to switch a year or so ago as it came out cheaper, Scottish Power rang me mid change to get me back and proved they were cheaper, mucked up the switch as British Gas had already done it and took loads of sorting out, don't want to get into that again, can British Gas really be cheaper, any body else found that?:confused::confused:
  • i have just moved into a new house, it has super efficient ground sourced heat pumps. the builder advised us to have an economy 10 meter as its the cheapest way to run it, fine by me!!! the problem is i dont know if my supplier is the cheapest as i cant seem to compair the prices. i have to pay 28p a day standing charge which seems really high to me.
does anyone have any sugestions to how i can compair prices without calling around every supplier individually:confused:

I have yet to see if it materialises, but I figured this was worth a mention to see if it can help anyone else:
I am with Scottish Power and their terms and conditions (section 5.8 http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/mediaassets/doc/tandc.pdf ) states that if you tell them within 10 days of them notifying you of the price hike that you wish to leave, then they should stick to the pre hike price until the switch goes through.
With a 15% hike, and a month to do the switch, that works out at about a tenner saved for me - I hope

I USED TO WORK FOR SCOTTISH GAS AND THEY DID THE SAME, I THINK ALL SUPPLIERS DO SOMETHING SIMILAR. AS IT TAKES 28 DAYS ON AVERAGE TO CHANGE SUPPLIER THEY ALLOW YOU TO STAY AT THE LOWER TARIFF UNTIL YOU TRANSFER. BECAUSE OF THE DELAY IN TRANSFER THOUGH YOU HAVE TO APPLY TO THE NEW SUPPLIER ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCREASE IS ANOUNCED AND NOTIFY YOUR CURRENT SUPPLIER AT THE SAME TIME.

    thanks, Martin,

    I switched yesterday, a bit late I know.

Gas is being switched to EBICO, and Electricity to British Gas, with Quidco 40 pounds for British Gas

I think this will save me about 120 pounds per year

I used 600 pounds for last year on EDF (quarterly bill, cash payment), definitely not a money-saving way!
    back to London;)

I just switched from BG to eon. When I rang BG to give my final meter reading they told me that they were actually 1% cheaper than eon.
I asked if this was based on my electricity usage and they said 'hang on' - after a minute or so they came back and said 'yes' they were still slightly cheaper as they did not charge a standing charge.
I then asked if I could have the Energy Click 5 rate and they said that was only for dual fuel (despite it clearly stating on their website that it was also for electricity only!). They also offered me £25 if I stayed with them.
As I was getting more than that from a switch site, I refused their offer. Also I just did not belive the BG guy on the phone!
I then checked the uswitch site again today and it now says BG Click 5 is the cheapest! It said eon was the cheapest 3 weeks ago!

So if anyone is switching from BG, (or even if you are not really intending to), pretend you are switching and they might offer you £25!

I did my camparision using energyhelpline today. They told me that my best provider is N Power.

It showed that I would save £124 because unlike my current provider, N Power would not make me pay any service
charges, which is great. :T Their Unit charge (pence per kWh) is also cheaper than my current provider. :T

But just as I was about to hit that buy online button, I decided to read their terms and conditions and then realized that the saving of £124 quoted also included their £84 dual fuel discount, which would only be provided to me annually and in arrears. This was there way of locking me in and which would also mean that I havent' really saved anything like £124 all.

So Im still looking, but Im going to wait for the price increases to be advertised tommorrow.

But I dont understand why Energyhelpline and MoneySupermarket have given different saving quotes for the same energy provider. I.e. MoneySuperMarket says that Ebico is my best deal, but EngeryHelpLine puts them sixth on my list and said N Power was my best deal. Does Anyone Know Why This Is?
