Thoughts with you and your family Jakes-mum.  Sad times  :/
I lost a good friend last week so can relate to your feelings of sadness and disbelief. I have been asked to do a reading at his funeral which will be an honour.
I am sure you have many happy memories and there will be happier times ahead. The grieving process is of course hard, along with all the sorting out that needs to be done.
I have potted some more pounds this week. Suddenly opening day is next month. The final count up is in sight.

Thank you all for your condolences, its still so surreal, we have been over the flat a few times in the last 5 days, throwing food and rubbish away.  We started going through his clothes today, trying to find something for him to wear for the funeral that's 'him', which sounds weird as they are all his clothes, but DH wants him to wear one of his outfits that he would have normally pick to wear so he's comfortable.  DH isn't coping too well, he had a bit of a wobble over whether uncle should have a coat or not on in the chapel of rest as DH doesn't want him to get cold  :'(
Range of emotions going on with both of us from crying that he's gone, laughing when we find something in a drawer (ie a cigarette packet with 4 whole cigarettes and a half smoked one he had clipped and put back in the packet, something he was notorious for doing despite always telling me he hadn't smoked for 6 months every time he saw me because i'd always tell him off for it  ) and anger, at ourselves for not doing more, not noticing something could have been wrong, at him for leaving us, at DH's family for being so far away etc.
I know its all part of the grieving process but this is the first time I have ever been through it!)
Sorry I got a bit ranty there didn't I! Must reign it in a bit :open_mouth:
So sorry about your dear friend Antomac, hugs sent to you at this time :(
More pennies in the pot, DH and DS have been to the pub a couple of times this week (as it was DH's best friends birthday) so lots of change swapped up with notes from both of them   Think i've had a good £30 go in this week.
Anyway, I shall try and pop back in this week with more potty news and less 'drag the thread down' type stuff

It's been a difficult day for me today as it is a year to the day since my son passed away.

It's not been an easy year and lockdown didn't help as I couldn't travel to the house to finish sorting it out and the sale of it was also delayed.

I never expected to have to go through all of his possessions and decide what to do with them. It's heartbreaking but i hope he would have been happy with my decisions.

Someone out there is now riding his beloved Yamaha. How he loved that bike - he kept it in tip top condition.

He was a much loved son, brother and uncle. We miss him very much.

Jakes-mum, I understand exactly the dilemma regarding the clothes. We decided on a casual outfit for my son, as he rarely wore a suit, and also his leather jacket.

He would have made a good member here with a pot of £2 coins, a sweet tin of copper coins, an after eight tin of silver coins, and just a fiver in his wallet.

God bless you Frogletina, what an awful time that first anniversary is. It can almost seem a sense of relief after that first year is over, but can it ever get any better when you're a parent who, never in their wildest dreams would envisage such a time....
Our dear friends had the fourth anniversary of their much loved 50 year old Son this year. Life can be so bitterly cruel for so very many. You have my love and heartfelt sympathy D. Take great care.

Lockdown was clearly a terrible time for you, especially with so much to sort through. I'm sure that throughout all your heartache you can be happy that he would have been proud of you in the decisions you made.
Someone out there is no doubt taking great pride in enjoying riding and caring for his (your dear Son's beloved Yamaha), but hopefully your dear Son's spirit will help keep that someone safe.

I'm not at all surprised how truly loved he was by you all as he sounded a very gentle man indeed. What an SPC member he would have been too, like Mother like Son in so many ways I'm sure. I'll be properly replying to you in just a short while D.
Do take very great care of yourself and cherish those wonderful memories you have of your treasured young Son no matter how tough times are, nothing can take those away.
    Much love always xxx
