Good morning everyone, not been around a while as I’ve just felt a bit meh for a few days ☹️ Nothing specific just general fed up ness which I suppose is to be expected. Still working from home but I’ve got Thursday and Friday as holiday this week so get a reprieve. Was supposed to be going to Countryfile with my cousin but that went before Covid, then she was coming to stay for a couple of days so that’s gone as well. We have now booked a NT visit on Friday to meet for a picnic and walk. It’s about mid way between us and neither have been before (Wentworth Castle and gardens) but I’m so excited about adult conversation! Well that is if my boy lets me speak 😂. I potted £5 and I have to admit I have a Christmas present already, although by default. An online store I use were having a plastic free July promotion of a mystery free gift; I got some recycled newspaper colouring pencils so my son will get them on Christmas Day, that’s if I can remember where I’ve put them. I had very mixed feelings the other day when he found 5p roadkill! Annoyed I’d missed it but proud I’ve taught him well 😉. Cat has gone off again so I strongly suspect she’s found herself a second home. My elderly neighbour at the back feeds her treats and she sometimes sleeps in his garage (on a pile of old blankets in warmth and comfort) and he did tell me that his neighbours also feed her. Good afternoon pottersssssssssssssssssss
Well its just been a roller coaster of a time here in jakesmum land!
Soooooooooo DH's uncle FINALLY admitted that he just cannot get in and out of the car anymore as its just too low (DH was actually having to lift him out by the jacket on occasion!) and decided that we would get a bigger, higher car that he could clamber into without issue. SO off we all toddle over many days looking at cars, sitting him in them, getting him to climb in the back seat to make sure there is room (he's old! he cant do a lot of that each day, hence the many MANY days of looking)
Finally find a car, DH likes it, Uncle likes it, i'm ok with the cost of the tax and insurance. We buy the car, DH goes back 3 days later to pick it up and it bunny hops all the way back to our house. Ring the garage, its a diesel, maybe it just need a good boot down the motorway as its been sat a while, no worries, off we go and the juddering is getting worse and worse. Back home we go (did I mention this was 48 hrs after I had been in hospital having my op? *rolls eyes* being in ajuddery car was not the best thing for me)
Anyway, we take the car back and get told it will be fixed latest 2 days time. ring after 3 days, to get told they have just spoken to the manufacturer and they have said its blocked with carbon, it'll be ready next day. Next day comes, we ring again, carbon is clear but theres another fault, they are waiting for a part, fast forward a few more days and yep, there is ANOTHER fault.
We decide to cut our losses and rejact the car, the dealer refused to accept our rejection
so we go down there and I serve them with written notice of rejection under the consumer rights act and just to make absolutely sure I also send them a letter before action. 7 days later we ring again as that is how long they had from the LBA to respond to get told that the owner still wants to fix the car so, and I quote, 'looks like you'll have to take us to court'
£410 later i've now registered with court. I am speechless (any you all know how rare that is!) he's a well established company, who ruins their own reputation over a £6500 car that they cannot fix (FYI its is still not fixed as of today).
So yes, i've been dealing with that, hence my absence from here over the last couple of weeks.
In better news (moving along from my rant) I have potted £15 from surveys and various coinage from posting things.
now I need to go to the post office again, before we pick up fish and chips for lunch
P.S why is there a cold sweat emoji but not a dodgy hug anymore? has anyone felt need to add a cold sweat emoji to their text?!SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £2470.95/£1000 (19) £0/£10004 -
For all those of you who are either poorly or feeling low or miserable in any way, here are very best wishes that you'll soon be feeling a lot better.

Hi Ant. Well done for your wife with the £1 find, though I bet you wish it had been you! Still, no doubt she put it in the pot for you. 🤗 Maybe not. 🙄 My ankle is still rough, I'm able to use the crutches and go with DH up the lane which is very quiet. I hope to goodness it soon makes progress as it'll be SEVEN weeks tomorrow!!!!! 🙄Sorry to hear you're feeling a little under the weather, or low, Hetty, still It's good to know you've had some time off.I'm pleased you've got an NT day out to look forward to after being let down in other ways, though I'd definitely take a gag for that lad of yours! 😂Well done on the £5er, and good to hear you've bought a Christmas present.Excellent work with your DS finding a 5p, you have indeed trained him well! 🥰Your cat certainly sounds a crafty little tinker.Crikey jakes-mum, that was a bit of a fiasco with the car! 😵 I feel like I've run a marathon, and with a sprained ankle! 😵Just a thought, why doesn't DH's uncle sit in the front seat?£15 added to our IOU sheet, and now all the extra Covid cases have hit I think I'll leave using cash! What a weird day here yesterday, it was hot, but not that hot as we had a fair bit of rain and certainly a great deal of cloud. At least it's lovely and sunny today.Enjoy the rest of SATURDAY everyone, a SMASHING SUNDAY too! Keep safe and stay healthy!

Hetty I can definitely relate to the feeling of meh - these are strange times. Was allowed to see my friend with dementia this week which was nice, he knew I was his friend although not quite sure of my name, but there was enough of the old phrases/finishing of punchlines to know he still remembers stuff, so it was kind of uplifting, although sad at the same time.
Jakes Mum I hope you manage to get your car troubles sorted - not the sort of stress anyone needs right now. What a strange stance for the garage to take
.
Sue You’re going to declare a decent amount at the rate you’re potting. Well done.
I potted a few more pounds myself, so hopefully it’s building up reasonable well.27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 55 -

I’ve just just potted £1.20. Had a lovely day out on Friday, if a little warm at times! We are planning on meeting up again in a month. Cat (Millie) still not back but I do feel that she will come back and that someone else is feeding her. She very rarely disappears and only for a couple of days at the most. When she went a couple of weeks ago it was 3 days but didn’t seem 3 day hungry on return. She wouldn’t go in the garden for a while but when her leg was better she ventured out a bit but not far. It seems strange that she would go off twice in two weeks when it’s out of character so I am wondering if someone fed her a bit the first time and now she’s gone back and they think she’s a stray. Anyway my theory and it helps my piece of mind. My son on the other hand is driving me up the wall; cheek and backchat 😬SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £660.03[ SPC 19 ?COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; Nov 2025 £17,241 2025 OP £2426.36/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £4689/£21,930 (21.38%)4

I hope your everyone had a really gorgeous weekend, and will, to a degree, enjoying the week ahead! 🤩For all those of you who are either poorly or feeling low or miserable in any way, here are very best wishes that you'll soon be feeling a lot better.
Yes Ant, I always look ahead to a reasonable amount come October and to a degree pot extra for the purpose. 🥰Thank you Lucy, I hope you too are doing well, hubby too - is he ok now? I'm so chuffed for you having finally reached the necessary with your survey!! 🤩 Don't they ever take an age! 🙄 I'm hoping to achieve my £50 from YouGov by Christmas! 🤗Good for you with your £1.20 potted Hetty! I'm so pleased you enjoyed Friday with your friend, pleased too that you've another day ahead to look forward to. 🤩 It's all a bit strange with your Millie, though I don't blame you for reassuring yourself with your thoughts, you need to at such times. Still, I really do hope she returns, even if it's intermittently. Problems with your little lad again then, fingers crossed he will be going back to school next month. Look after yourself.Enjoy the rest of MONDAY folks, and a lovely TUESDAY! Keep safe and STAY HEALTHY!

You and me both Sue, and having filed with the court for the princely sum of £410 the garage have replied via the money claim offering our original payment back 'without predjudice' making it sound like its a good will gesture of something!Sue-UU said:Crikey jakes-mum, that was a bit of a fiasco with the car! 😵 I feel like I've run a marathon, and with a sprained ankle! 😵Just a thought, why doesn't DH's uncle sit in the front seat?
, went onto the consumer board to ask what options I had and was basically told to take the refund and suck up the £410 loss, all well and good but I don't actually have £410 to just throw away cos some so and so doesn't want to live by the law. Not one poster actually told me what I could legally do with the offer, just gave me their opinion
so i'm still unsure what to do.
Re the car, its just as low in the front as in the back
so no matter where he sits he cannot lift himself out of it, plus its a mute point as the car has already been sold as there was no point keeping it when he can't get in it and tbh we didn't imagine for a minute we would have this kind of trouble with the car we bought. Cest la vie.
Got myself 40p trolley kill yesterday! Went to our brand new Ald1 which opened last thursday and someone had decided to ran 2 x 20p's in the £1 coin slot. They then obviously couldn't get them out and left them, it was the only row of small trolleys as well, so I was trying to get a trolley, there was a lady behind me waiting to put hers back who was not best pleased when I told her that some numpty had stuck coins in the mechanism, I had to work hard but I finally got those pesky 20ps out, put my £1 coin in and moved out the way for the lady behind me who said 'you're doing well, you haven't even gone in yet and your 40p up'
So 40p in the tin plus DD had a £2 coin off the icecream man and swapped it up with me so thats going in too.SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £2470.95/£1000 (19) £0/£10003 -
That’s really rotten Jakes-mum, seems like you’ve been stitched right up. Unfortunately I’m no expert in such things so won’t offer yet another opinion. As you say, plenty of advice is available on these boards, but a lot of it is just opinion.
Currently on holiday and have been enjoying a mix of sun and huge downpours/flash flooding. I really feel for the home and business owners who have been flooded.
Putting a little more in the pot this week. A very Good Afternoon SPCers!Do please TAKE CARE & STAY HEALTHY EVERYONE!!!!!
I hope you've enjoyed a fair week, apart from this darned heat!! Still, it should be cooler for the weekend, so thoroughly enjoy yourselves!
Apart from the RAIN!!
For all those of you who are either poorly or feeling low or miserable in any way, here are very best wishes that you'll soon be feeling a lot better.
So, the problem still rumbles on then, jakes-mum! They almost come across as con artists! 😡 It's sad that all you could get on MSE was the opinions of others and no real advice. 😕 It really makes you wonder, still, you'll know what to do next time you hit this sort of thing! 🥳Well done with your gains!! 🤩You are having a complete mixture of holiday weather eh, Ant, but at least you have the heart to empathise with the poor folk caught in the flooding. How sad about all the 3 poor folk who died when the train seemingly hit a landslide in Scotland. Thank goodness there were only a few on the train!Well done with the saving, I sincerely hope you're able to get away for at least an overnight stay later on in the year, just don't leave it too late though as that bally Coronavirus is forecast to be back in the autumn/winter!!Another chalk up of £15 on the IOU sheet. What some heat over the last several days 🥵 the last several nights too! 🥵I hope we don't get too many more spells like this throughout the rest of the summer, we'll soon be ruddy hard boiled!Enjoy the rest of FRIDAY folks, and a SMASHING TWEEKEND! Keep safe and STAY HEALTHY!
