  • Good news. Had one of the littles tested and its come back negative. My self test today was negative so pretty certain we are covid free here at the moment. Kids still  need to isolate but so far so good. Lots of colouring and leaping about the house and very noisy but that's pretty standard when they are stuck in. My payday is wed which is early -my bank account is waiting eagerly. Saw my wage slip and my wage has emergency tax on it. No idea why as I've worked there over 4 years but I'll adjust the budget accordingly and monitor it. I'm not a big earner so it's not mega money but it's an added thing to have to chase up if it continues. If not I'm sure it will correct itself in april.
I'll number cruch tonight or tomorrow as I need to chuck some more.money in parent pay for breakfast and afterschool club.

That's great news about the negative tests!

  • It was. Payday day today which was early but welcome. Random pence swapped and I've signed up to the xmas savings challenge to say a pound a day. We spend more than that so my challenge is 2 a day. I'm up to 54 pounds in that so must update there thread. Finances all planned and must must go into parent pay to get my account up to date. It doesnt matter how much I pay it that account it just always wants more!! And its 2 days till xmas whoop whoop. Hope everyone has some kind of lovely day however big or small you have needed to make it. X

  • Christmas was good. Hope everyone else's day turned out okay too. Felt bad for our plus one not staying for dinner and having to present swap and stand on the drive for a chat though. Beef joint in the freezer ready for when they can re enter their support bubble with us and I've saved crackers for the table.
Slight disaster today in that father Christmas brought a games console yesterday and today the tv packed in..... aarrg just after father xmas has forked out for xmas a new tv is required.
Argos to the rescue and one being delivered tomorrow. Food budget for rest of the month grows ever smaller.  School dinners are paid for till  next payday and we wont use as much petrol this month so I'm sure it will all work out okay.  And it's only 2 more sleeps till the 2 littles are allowed outside. Not that I'm counting or anything. ;)

  • So banks tidied up to zero. Random pence put in savings and Bill's due this week are paid. I've reallocated some of the petrol money as other than work or school we go nowhere and we now have a remaining food budget of 250 to last 29 days. Hmm wish me luck. 3 of those weeks the kids will have school dinners which is paid up so if I have soups or leftovers at work and am creative with the shopping who knows. Gotta love a challenge eh. I've kept 75 aside for petrol so hopefully can save a few more pounds there to help

  • Not sure if I will manage it have overspent already. whoops
Kids are off though so bill always goes up.
Went kids shoe shopping today as kids feet have grown and thought we might be in tier 4 again soon- yep we are from tomorrow.
Was bothered that clarks would be shut and i would have to guess on shoe sizes for the littles again which isnt ideal....good job I went as they are all in completely the wrong sizes. And i got a good deal as they had some sort of replacement scheme for any shoes bought in last 6 months. Ended up with 3 new sets of school shoes,2 sets of childrens trainers and some polish/shoe saver spray for 90 quid.
Not cheap but definitely a lot cheaper than my usual january kids shoe shop.
