Good luck with the upcycling, it's amazing how small changes can make a difference!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

My debt reduction mojo is returning. I have money set aside that would get me to 50% paid. I've paid 30% of the wraparound care costs for this school year and I'm 3 weeks ahead in paying it. I am trying to get 4 weeks ahead as this is the notice period I would have to pay if anything happened. I think I will make a payment today to break the 18k debt barrier and will set up a bank transfer thing so I can till tally to my next focused debt. I'm so tempted to get to 50% paid but I'm not going to. We still need to pay out some money for things we had to break to fix the leak and although my e fund is intact I know it would be decimated if we have to isolate again. All focus needs to be on keeping money in the bank. So my mojo is back in spirit but not in reality. Ha ha. Raining and pouring here but a chill out at home is just as good sometimes as tearing about.
Christmas is looming so I need to get inspiration for gifts and time to buy and wrap. That's the next job I suppose!Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Upcycling has been going well. Kitchen walls painted, cupboard doors removed so it doesnt look odd that half are broken and a few random touches to make it look different...spent about 100 quid so far...we need some electrical work doing but the person we use is off grid for 2 weeks so it can wait. After that still aiming for floor to be fixed/replaced by jan. Covered by rug and cut offs of lino at moment to protect our toes xxJan 18 Joint debts 35,213

You are doing really well and the upcycling sounds great too!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Whether you pay it off or keep it in one of your funds at least you're not just wasting the extra and if you find in a couple of months you haven't needed the savings you can always pay extra off then. I think in these uncertain times having some kind of emergency fund is more important.
In terms of benefits for this financial year everyone is getting and extra £20 a week so that's probably the biggest reason for the difference between the two.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200
*Virgin Credit Card - £3552.50 - £0
*Natwest - £1828.35 -£0.00
Barclaycard - £2315.25 - £0.00
Creation Finance - £960.32 £840
*Total debt - £8040/£11641.17*
Savings
*Savings Buffer - £100/£1500
*Emergency Fund - £1500/£1500

Thankfully the stakes are lower this time and the amounts would potentially be less.

It's nice that so many of active so we can share experience but not so nice in the same way. I've got 8.30 allocated budget to last till friday. Let's see if I can make it. I have food petrol and milk is delivered so fingers crossed! Should be made easier by my losing my bank card over the weekend. Whoops. Cancelled straight away so should be ok.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Been nearly a month since I was here. I did make it to payday last month ut with only pennies to spare. Xmas and work on house has depleted the savings but I have finally broken the half way barrier. Sometimes you just have to take a chance and seize opportunities as they come. Aside from 150 on a c card that I used last week for a food shop and which I have money ready to pay all.our debts are back to being dmp ones. This month is going to be very very tight so I may post random nonsense and in order to keep on track as opposed to major debt payments.
Then next year its save save save to replace the kitchen flooring and to rebuild our e fund.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Had a no spend day today which is always good, got a bit of dry weather so put the wellies on and went to the park. Prepped the sweets for own home made advent calendar and had a nice roast tea. Debts didnt go down today, not sure if my diary name is appropriate now lol as the only debts left are dmp so I'm not going to send my random pence to them. Would cause too many questions. First time in ages I've not done something so my bank account ends in zero!! Either I will send my random pence to savings each day or overpay the mortgage. I get a letter from our mortgage company though every time we overpay though to explain what I've paid. It puts me off paying small amounts as I think it's a waste to keep getting letters. First task is get the efund to 500 I think then aim to go to 1000 long term. Other half owes me a bit so that will start if off.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

I have lots of mini pots/accounts but am wondering whether to chuck saving and bill money all in one for simplicity. I mess around moving them anyway if its separate. I know what my annual bill costs are so as long as im putting more than that away each month it doesnt really matter where it goes I suppose. Will also look nicer and feel like it grows quicker HahaJan 18 Joint debts 35,213
