  • So I've not posted for ages. Been an eventful few weeks. 2 close relatives both had covid and have been rough with it but thankfully now are over the worst and past the danger point. A few friends have been the same but luckily also seem to be recovering. The kids had to isolate for a second time in the space of a month in the midst of it all and I owe work lots of hrs that I have to attempt to work back before end March. Financially  I have no idea but I think I am overdrawn in both bank accounts. I didn't have overdrafts at all till recently but when I could see how many cases there were locally snd how much of a rough ride jan was going to be I got a 500 buffer on  my 2 accounts. Whilst it isnt ideal to use an overdraft it has allowed me to take my eye of the ball and concentrate on other things. I feel like I have wished the days away to get everyone past the 14 day danger point but now it's time to concentrate and look at the bank accounts. I'm.sure I just need to juggle money about to fix it just hasnt been the priority. Obv one day I will be rich and always have excess money in my accounts but obv I'm not there yet. Ha
    Hope everyone is okay.

You've had a lot on, and you'll be able to catch up with the financials.  Glad your friends and relatives are recovering.

  • Thanks. Yes finances have been the back of the queue. When I've gone overdrawn it wont have been by much and I can pull it back I'm sure. Still not looked as youngest coughing lots last night and me coughing a bit so went for tests this morning. Think it's a winter cough probably but best to check. I do wonder how long we will be stuck.doing this. It's not a pleasant experience to have the pcr test or the lateral flow that I do already and If the kids are gonna need testing for every cough they will fall out with me pretty soon. It's so sad how long it's going on and how many people are affected. I do really worry about the effect its having on those people who are ill or have passed.

  • I completely agree I went for a test with DS1 on sat, I wasn't very popular with him but glad we went as he was positive. There was a 2yo there having a test at the time and his parents were distraught, as the winter bugs will now be in full swing it does worry me how much self isolating and tests will be required 😔

  • I hope you are all okay and dont end up poorly with it.
I know its important so I will do as required and test isolate etc etc....but if we include today (which tbh doesn't really count as isolation yet as it's only been one day off so far) this is the 6th time we have had to isolate in one way or another since last march. I know some people have had to do it more or hopefully had to endure it less but it's a real pain on the finances and the anxiety levels. Honestly thinking of quitting work and homeschooling. I pay most of my wage in wraparound care and I'm just so fed up as our my bosses!
Anyhow rant over. I do hope you are all feeling okay!

  • In a more positive post I must praise my 5 year old for allowing a swab to be taken even though she experienced one in dec and knew what was coming. She winced less than me.
Eldest birthday is coming up soon so need to prepare a lockdown birthday. It's on a school day to which is a pain as they will be at school depending on our results. McDonalds and a party bag for each of the kids is the current plan

  • It is really draining self isolating especially when it's more than once so I sympathise that you have had to do many times. We are all fine thankyou DS1 has no symptoms at all and I just feel unwell like a really bad cold when your achy and tired so far. We have been self isolating since last weds as 2 of his teachers had covid, we then had to restart sat 😔 hopefully things will improve for you but if it mihjt be better for your mh and finances to home school whilst I wouldnt rush into it, I wouldn't rule it out. • Well done to your little one for being so brave, they are so resilient aren't they 😊 good luck on the test results. We had to self isolate for my 5yo birthday in January so had Mcdonalds delivery which they thought was amazing lol, and he took individually wrapped haribos into school when he went back.  We are now approaching DS1 2nd lockdown birthday shortly and he's well and truly over not having a party lol 😂😂🎉

  • I hope the rest of your days go quick. I have to say it worse at this time of year. We last had to isolate a couple of weeks ago and that was miserable. The one before was over xmas and that turned out to be the easiest one yet due to new presents, crafts from the elves etc. I have a stuck at home cupboard now that I buy things for in preparation-how sad. I think I'm being grumpy when I say I'll quit as I know it doesnt bring much in and it's so much hassle at the moment to be out at work and in contact via work school etc. We dont do anything else except walks. I'll stick with it though as I know long term I need to be more grateful of my job.
And I will at some point stop procastinating and sort my spreadsheet

  • So i had a look the bank accounts. I did go overdrawn a couple of times but I've had a mess about and it's all plus again. As long as I watch cashflow I should be fine from now on. Just need to budget till next payday and I'll be fine.
Youngest was negative I'm still waiting to hear but fingers crossed we will all be back at work and school tomorrow
