Dawn sorry to heat about DD FIL
We too avoided Halloween. Don't get why you would expect your children to knock on doors and ask for sweets! I'm sure none or very few know the origin of the actual day anyway.....
Today's plans:
Meeting good pal for coffee not seen in a while so happy to spend a few £ on a brew with them.
Reconciled just for points CC
Check banking
Declutter another drawer
Check on expenses claim I submitted earlier in the week
Check on another claim for something else.
Meal from planner
Online shop coming today, plan what order we are having things in, in case anything needs prepping and freezing
Go an buy a piece of upcycled furniture
Have a good day all. Purps.0 -
Morning all
My dog's haircuts cost more than mine do as well Ditty :rotfl:
I have lots of halloween sweets left for the GCs, as we only had one little girl with her mum call round.
Today's list:
Post ebay parcels (still got a non-payer, will raise a case with ebay to avoid fees if they don't pay up by tonight ) Why do people do that? Posted parcels. Other buyer still not paid
Go to sales unit and have a tidy up - and it is pay day - should be a good month :T Done
Small shop needed, will also do monthly food bank donationNot done, decided to wait till I need more than a handful of things I can manage without for a bit!
There is a bit of space in the freezer - one of our 2 excellent local butchers has a deal on lamb. Will enquire. We are so lucky to have 2 really good butchers in our small town. Bought half a lamb, the joints cut as per my request. Cost £65. Also bought 5% fat beef mince, pork belly slices, sausage meat at 4 packs for £10. Cheaper than the supermarkets, locally produced and beautifully presented. My freezer is now full again, and I shan't need to buy any meat for ages.
Make some fish cakes to use up leftover mashed potatoes Done
Dinner will be a box of HM chicken and chorizo stew from the freezer Actually had the fish cakes. Will have this tomorrow.
Ought to make a cake or some scones Made scones, not as good as usual because the second oven on my range cooker doesn't get quite hot enough for their liking.
Ring about cooker repair that should have happened yesterday  Got an out of office message. Will have to try again on Monday0 -
Dawn Sorry to heat about DD FIL
Well, it was quiet here last night too, We usually have loads of children. The local primary school had a Halloween disco so I'm guessing a lot of them went to that instead. Probably a better idea - much safer. Anyway, I know have loads of sweets left but, no doubt, Himself will soon polish them off.
So today:
Phone and tablet charging
Banking checked and pennies moved
Had breakfast (a new challenge to eat breakfast every morning)
Have some grapes later (another new challenge to eat fruit)
Lunch is the remainder of the soup
Dinner is pork fillet (one of three that Himself got cheap the other day)
As a result of which I will have to rearrange the freezers to see if I can freeze the other two
Wrap another couple of C presents
Clean the kitchen properly
Phone my nephew later to get the results of his mother's hospital tests
Find the birthday card I bought for my cousin, write it, stamp it and put it somewhere prominent so I don't forget to post it later on in the month.
Declutter a couple of things from the house (another challenge)
Just finishing my coffee and then get startedHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Sorry to hear about all the various lergies & difficult news. It's odd, as I've had about 4 evenings since September, when I've been convinced I'm coming down with a cold.....last night was another one....but then the next morning, not a sign of one. I suppose I should be glad I've not succumbed, but I expect it's just a matter of time. Will try to get my flu jab on Saturday if the pharmacist is in. I don't want to avoid all the colds then go down with something worse!
Sorry to hear you have the post-holiday blues, DNMS. Try & do at least a little thing every day that you enjoy. We only pass this way once, so we may as well get what enjoyment out of our time we can - I'm saying that to myself as much as to you!

I've installed Emma onto my phone and am adding my cards to it. Very handy for knowing how much the debt is.
I am about to call Asda Credit Cards and seeing if they'll freeze the interest and cancel the cards.
I will also then call Tesco Credit and see if they'll do the same.
This weekend I will sit down with the OH and budget for the month.Tesco [STRIKE]£7647.88[/STRIKE] £7,488.96 Asda [STRIKE]£2,552[/STRIKE] £2,300 Virgin [STRIKE]££4,204.95[/STRIKE] £4,204.95

Hello
Made it to a new month. Bills paid, and budget now very tight for the remainder of the month.
Sorry to hear your sad news Dawn.
Today has been big monthly shop day - half done at Aldee and half at Mr S. I bought a few bits for Christmas baking and will be getting on with that before too long. I am going to attempt jam again - see if I can actually get it to set this time. I have been researching so fingers crossed.
Spend in £land yesterday as well, buying bits to decorate my home made goodies with. Still hoping I can get away with an uber frugal Christmas. Gin is looking good, chutney is made, jam to do - don't think I can risk cakes but I will try biscuits.
Determined to keep a spend diary this month so I've started that, and need to start making Christmas gift lists as well. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

'And then the kind mechanic pointed at the little bubble on the front tyre and said: 'I don't think that is legal'! Car service done - will need new cam belt, that was a punch in my already shaky budget. November and December is the two most expensive months for me.
Some how the tyre place near my mechanic produce an appropriate tyre - used but legal - how does that work and I got a new tyre for £25, I would say that is a rip off for a used tyre, but I'm hoping it will last till MOT in March.
I have made my budget for the next week, the rest of the month is dependent on me working doing more cover work otherwise it will be a beans on toast all the way through.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%
