Has anyone managed to cancel their contract with Orange under condition 4.3 for them start charging on call forwarding numbers beginning with 07? I wonder what's the best way to go about it, e.g. call 150, or write to them at Bristol or Darlington, or e-mail their executive office?
  • Well thats a sad news but thats true.
Orange started charging these numbers from 15th of dec.
My current unbilled charges stands at 99 pounds,
I spoke to them and they said the same thing that we changed the terms and that was printed on the invoices which was sent between 15th of october to 15th of november to all customers.
ANd they say that you are out of 30 days to cancel your contracts and ur charges still stands.
So orange is now charging for noodle , dialdailay and all o7 call forwarding numbers
Orange also claimed that they can charge The numbers starting with 0207 or these calling card numbers because they are not classified as land line numbers , instead you use them calling abroad.

So i am not sure if we buy the calling cards , the minutes will come out of our inclusive minutes.

I opened my november bill and found out the info there , Sadly i didn't open that earlier cuz most of the people check the bills online.

can anyone check their ts&cs to see how notice is defined in the then ts&cs. i disagree that a bill constitutes a notice although it is arguable. might be worth taking to court to test it.

please read all the information we send you
16.1 We update our Customer Communication from time to time. Information on various topics is mailed to Customers with their monthly billing statements and is available on request from us. You are asked to read your Customer Communications and to keep those which are mailed to you until they are superseded. We regard you as having been given any information if it is either:
    a) included in a mailing addressed to you
    b) by voicemail, email text or other form of electronic message sent by us to your Device
    c) communicated directly by any means. "

But note the announcement on the bill only covered call forwarding numbers starting 07. They do not appear to have issued a notice to all contract users by mail, voicemail, e mail, or text saying 01/2 call through numbers will be charged, and its not yet mentioned in their T&C or their current price list. So if anyones charged to call a 01/02 call forwarding number they would appear to have grounds to challenge it.;)

This is nothing new with Orange. Years ago they allowed 0800 numbers within their bundles, yet they used regularly to bar 0800 numbers that various service providers used for onward dialling.

However, when this happened it was the custom for Orange to put an announcement on the number you had dialled, warning you that the call was to a "calling card service" and that you would be charged at whatever rate. The companies who operated the 0800 numbers then simply issued fresh 0800 numbers to their customers and all was well again for a month or so, until Orange noted the 0800 numbers on their billing platform.

I think that their action of not advising at the point of making the call leaves Orange vulnerable to the regulator. The National Numbering Scheme is so devised so that users will know in advance roughly what the cost of a call is likely to be. This latest action by Orange, if it is so, flies in the face of that precedent.
  • The inclusive allowances are for standard UK numbers.

Call forwarding numbers, whatever they are, are access numbers.

These are not included in the inclusive allowance.

Shouldnt the company who are supplying the access number notify you rather than the network, as you are using their service.
  • It amazes me that the herd instinct is so strong. This thread commenced stating that certain geographical numbers are going to be excluded. What utter nonesense that was! Not it's progressed to non-geographical access numbers and get bogged down in minutia which is pretty obvious and simply proves how one or more people getting the wrong end of the stick can create a snowball effect which leads elsewhere and (no doubt) carries a few panicky victims along with it.
