Hello x
Still following your progress with interest well done on the losses and sts and keep positive with the gains x
Im some what thwarted in my attempts to increase my activity levels as I had a bad fall in the garden luckily darling husband was able to get me up but Im badly bruised. Cross with myself and have strict instructions to rest up:mad: Oh well I will get there!
Kind regards xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Hi All,
I have to say, I'm doing stunningly well this challenge and it's +1.5lb this week. I was out with a friend for dinner and drinks last night so I'm actually relieved that it wasn't worse. I think that takes me to around about my target, it's just a shame it's in the wrong direction :rotfl:
Blue Doggy I hope the cold and cotton wool brain goes away soon
Honey Sorry about the gain. I'm annoyed enough about mine and it was fully deserved so you must be fuming at how unfair it is. Hopefully it's just a weird blip and you'll get the loss you expected and more next week.
SillyVixen I hope the plant based diet helps your blood pressure. I've often thought about trying a vegan diet but I don't think I could give up cheese or chocolate.
Dumpling Well done on drawing that line and I hope that the new plates help. I really should get some new ones as we've got huge square plates and I have a tendency to finish whatever I dish up. It's just as well that I try to make sure that at least half the plate is veg!!
Molly Ouch!! I know you must be annoyed at not being able to be as active as you'd like but please take care of yourself and rest as much as you can. I hope the bruising goes down soon and that you're not in too much pain.
I hope everyone has a good, temptation-free weekend. Seeing as I'm out with IzHe tonight and then tomorrow I'm helping mum with her Christmas shopping during the day and out with a friend in the evening, I think it's safe to say that mine will involve alcohol...0 -
Happy to report now I've got my head round it, I like the WW app. I'm particularly happy with the idea of rewards for points.
I've got a works do tonight, and I'm not missing out on the grub, just not going to drink.
B: mushroom and pepper omelette
L: tuna and chickpea salad, yoghurtsoup, roast turkey and trimmings, cheesecake
S: clementines, appleKeep reading books!
July grocery challenge START: £150.
total SPENT £127.53, REMAINING £22.37.0 -
Oh gosh, sorry Brambling, I forgot to congratulate you on your fabulous loss this week! :j
Wishus, yes more veggies is a huge help, the bulk of my plate consists of veggies as colourful as I can get it. I am glad you like the WW app, is it free? Enjoy the works do tonight!
Blue Doggy, I hope you feel better soon.
Honeythewitch, that does not seem fair at all. I think a recount is very much in order.
Well done SillyVixen on the reduction in blood pressure. The plant based diet may well be helping, keep us posted on your progress, I would be interested in the results. :T
Smaller plates is a great idea, Dumpling!
Molly41, I am sorry about your fall and agree with those instructions to rest up. Be careful!
Izadora, sorry about the gain, I think it may just be temporary though because of the meal the night before. Fingers crossed you get a loss next week.
I am out at a vegan fair tomorrow, but think the free samples and tempting food will be a bit of a challenge.
Isn't it lovely not to have rain for once?:)

Good evening, everyone
FrugalLina thank you, I think it’s starting to go. My mother used to say a cold takes nine days, three to come, three to stay and three to go. So starting from first signs on Sunday it’s about right.I hope you enjoy the vegan fair and avoid too much temptation.
wishus enjoy your evening!:)
Izadora thank you. How annoying to reach your target in reverse, but try to draw a line under it and keep going. Once the weekend is over you may be able to start to kick some of the extra away before it settles (IYSWIM).:)
Molly41 sorry to hear about your fall, hope you’ll be up and doing soon.:)
dumpling those smaller plates sound like a good plan, also the swerving on the garlic bread. Good luck.:)
sillyvixen great news about your BP! Well done! Hope the vegetables help even more.:)
honeythewitch how odd to gain when you’ve been doing all the right things, hopefully it’ll come off again quickly.:)
My “oven broken” problem turned out to be easily solved when I looked out the instructions. It had got turned into timed start mode, probably by Junior Doggy trying to see what was on the worktop and moving the controls  little horror :rotfl:. Phew! That saved a lot of trouble and expense!
Made a big pot of spinach soup, ten portions - one eaten, one in the fridge, the rest in the freezer.
So, today’s food was
B: porridge
S: handful of dried fruit which should have been used for the Christmas cake(cake didn’t get made.)
L: grilled mushroom with goats cheese, tomatoes and cress, yogurt, applespinach soup, steamed haddock, lo green beans and tomatoes, yogurt with rhubarb

Evening all
I've got my big ruler out and a big line had been drawn under those who need it, Its not a easy time to try and lose weight  too many temptations
Molly do as you're told and take it easyI know it must be frustrating for you
Dumpling a few years ago my sister replaced her plates with large square ones and it wasn't until she realised that the boys were leaving a lot of food just how much she was putting on them (but she was eating it) we like to fill our plates in this family, she was shocked when she plated up on her new plate and then transferred it to an old plate to see how much she was dishing up. As they were cheap plates they ended up at charity shop (they were her DH choice after all) and new smaller plates brought.
Enjoy the vegan fair FrugalLina hopefully you will be inspired
Good news re the BP Sillyvixon they do say losing 10% of our body weight can have a big impact on our health
Cranky what about eggs for breakfast, scrambled, omelette or make a frittata, can be eaten without bread maybe with some raw spinach or cherry tomatoes. I tend to be boring breakfast wise, fruit and Greek yogurt during the summer and porridge and fruit during the winter
I try to avoid eating bread but it can sneak up on you  I tend to fill at least half my plate with vegetables, I like a variety on it. I've stocked up on a good selection of vegetables today for the next week and soup will be made on Sunday for lunches
B - porridge and fruit
L - vegetable and bean soup
D - pan fried cod, chips, runner beans, broccoli, tomatoes air fried with the chips
S - fibre one brownie, grapes, pear
I'm meeting my friend tomorrow and there will be some drinks as it's the last time before Christmas (not too much as rail replacement bus part of the way) I'll just have to avoid the dessert her husband has been buying us when we meet up with him late afternoon

Just realised that our Christmas party is tomorrow, and my pre ordered curry will contain ghee so not compleatly plant based - but as I had to order 2 weeks ago, nothing can be changed.
So not compleatly plant based this week!
I have eaten my way through a pack of vegan yogurt .. but don't think I can face any more!!
Also I am not sure if smoothies are the way forward, I am getting hungry very quickly, I think it is because I am not eating solid food. I am feeling quite tired ( considering I have only switched yogurt as I don't drink milk or eat eggs and haven't eaten cheese for at least 3 weeks). Also the last 3 days I have eaten soup - so today's lunch was a welcome change of 3 bean chilli and Brown rice!
I am going to replace my smoothie tomorrow with chopped fruit, instead of blending it into a smoothie, with some orange juice instead of a smoothie, and a slice of wholemeal toast.
It's a learning curve.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
Good evening everyone
sillyvixen a pity about the ghee, but since it can’t be helped enjoy your dinner and draw a line under it.I’m sure you’re right about smoothies - as far as I’ve read the enzymes which tell the brain we’re no longer hungry take about 20 minutes to kick in, so solid food is better because it takes longer to consume.:)
Brambling I hope you had a lovely time with your friend. I think part of the problem with big plates is that our normal size portions look too small, so we add more food to make it look right. Then, to avoid waste or because we were brought up to clear our plates, (or both), we eat it all and take in all the extra calories.:)
Eaten today were:
B: one rasher of bacon, two eggs, two mushrooms
L: sardine salad (fennel, beetroot, cress), apple with yogurtspinach soup, sausages, cauliflower, lo lo green beans with tomato (I’d made more of that than I thought! It was nice though, and filling
)

Hi everyone, the vegan fair was amazing, I was very good and only sampled a tiny bit of vegan cheese and herby "butter". A lot of the foods were calorific stodge (pastries, cakes, chips, breads), so as I had my skinny sister with me, I made her do all the tasting. :rotfl:
I now have several cheeses, butters, pies, nut roasts and nut butters to put away into the freezer for Christmas. :T
I even managed to get some Christmas presents, so that was really useful.
The turnout was really good, it was great to see so many there and it was good to see the stall-holders so busy.
Everywhere looked very winter wonderlandy outside today with the ice frosting on everything, it was so good to see the back of the rain we have been having lately.31.5/1000
