I need a pep talk. I've drifted off course this week and my impetus has ebbed away. I'm getting back at the helm today, now, to get the Good Ship Healthy Weight back on course.

I think most of us are our own worst enemies and our own worst critics  sometimes it seems I've been doing this all my adult life, so I have enough stop and then have to start again

Honey STS after being away is great :T. Hope you had a good time

Izadora I find working from home dangerous if I'm not careful I end up grazing all day

FrugalLina I hope you have heat now

Busy day at work today and I ended up working through lunch and staying until 6.30pm, one annoyed cat when I got home, he likes his routine :).

B - usual porridge and fruit
L - vegetable and bean soup
D - breaded cod fillet sandwich (I hadn't taken anything from the freezer and was hungry when I got in)
S - mince pie, grapes, chocolate biscuit

  • Hi everyone!

I am super tired today and off to bed early, so I thought I would pop in and wish everyone the best, especially those who are struggling.

It isn't easy, but just keep doing your best.

Good news: I have heating, yay! The boiler repair took ages and worth the all-in-one fee as he replaced several components - in fact, practically the only bit that wasn't replaced was the casing!

Anyway, a busy day tomorrow too, but at least it is Friday - keep on working at it, you can do it!

  • Good morning, everyone :). Happy Friday :).

FrugalLina really good to hear your heating is working again. It sounds as though the man did a very comprehensive job. :)

Brambling “emergency gin” :rotfl: love the idea! Well done on STS when work is being demanding, and making it hard to stick to feed plans. :)

honeythewitch STS is still good, I hope you enjoyed your time away. :)

Izadora it is hard not to munch the wrong things when working at home. Completely understandable that you need a coping strategy when your mum has a bad day (been there, done that, and still trying to lose the weight I gained.) I never found a better way (than wine) although I knew I needed to. I hope you can do so. :)

wishus well done on being able to walk away from hot chocolate! :)

tighteningthebelt the dinner with your friends sounds really lovely, I’m very glad you enjoyed it. Your enjoyment must have made your friends very happy, too. Your menu for yesterday looks as though you’re getting back on track quickly :T. You asked for a pep talk: look at Brambling’s chart and see how many lovely smiley faces you have. Don’t go and spoil it with a Green Grin. :D

Bfh I had to give up watching cooking programmes, they make me want to eat even when I’m not hungry. :)

My dinner out yesterday was very good, and I think I managed to stay more or less on track. Cream Tea today will definitely be off track, so into damage limitation!

    Yesterday’s food:
    B: plain porridge
L: smoked mackerel salad, cinnamon yogurt
D: roast lamb, 2 pigs in blankets, carrots, peas and cauliflower, cheese, celery and grapes
S: hm soup (at usual dinner time because I would be eating later than normal.)

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I have woken up absolutely starving this morning but I have just had a couple of Weetabix and that seems to have filled me up :).

I have a busy day today with nurses, occupational therapists, friends and family all wanting to come and see me. Hopefully they will space themselves out or it's going to be very crowded in here. I thought it would have died down a bit now I have been home from hospital for a couple of weeks but obviously not :rotfl:

My diet has been going well but I am still very tempted to secret eat when I am left alone....which is not that often thankfully. Old habits die hard though and there have been the odd marmite sandwich slipping through the crack. Still haven't touched chocolate for nearly 7 weeks now so I feel quite proud of myself for that as I used to eat 2 family sized bars a day.

    Todays food looks like this:

b - Weetabix, milk and sweetener
l - chicken salad wrap, baked crisps
d - not sure yet but I fancy baked fish in batter and peas
    s - apple, satsumas

Hope you all have a good day and make healthy choices, take care xx

    Morning All,

Well, I managed to surpass myself this week and put on +2lb :o

Considering the amount I drank at the weekend and Wednesday's accidental binge I'm consoling myself with the fact that it could've been worse.

Honey - A STS when you've been away is a great achievement

Brambling - I hope work's less hectic today and that the cat's forgiven you

Frugalina - I'm glad you've got the boiler sorted and will be nice and toasty now

Blue Doggy - Well done for staying on plan last night and enjoy the cream tea today. I find that it's much easier to do damage limitation when you know you're going to have something so best of luck with working around it.

Dumpling I understand the compulsion to eat in secret and it's a ridiculously hard habit to break so a slip every now and then is to be expected. Well done for sticking to your diet though and especially going that long without chocolate :T

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx

I ended up having a bite of my husband's chicken burger last night, because the portion of veg chilli was so teeny.

Today, I'm out but not far from my house, so I have a pre-cooked bolognese sauce to quickly eat before.
    B: crumpets and marmite
L: goats cheese and herb salad sandwich, carrot sticks, strawberry Activia
    D: spag bol
S: not sure... need fruit I think!

Oh dear! Not a good day today. I’m going away for a few days tomorrow and for some reason I get a bit anxious about packing and prepping to travel! Hence I’ve found myself prevaricating with tea and biscuits - more than once 😳
I may not get on here over the next few days but will aim to make healthy choices and will be doing lots of walking.
Will weigh in when I get back:)
  • Good evening, everyone :)

Bfh wishing you a good time away. :)

    wishus hope tonight’s gig goes/went well. :)

Izadora commiserations and hugs :). I hope you can draw a line under this week and start again tomorrow. Thank you for your kind words, I do find planning is key to keeping somewhere near the track, but ambushes can and do happen to all of us.

dumpling hoping your busy day went smoothly and wasn’t too tiring. Well done on staying off the chocolate :A.

This afternoon’s cream tea was delicious, and my friend and I had some good chat and laughter. I’m currently fighting the temptation to find and scoff “something” sweet, and keep having to utter the magic incantation “how fat do you want to be?” Luckily there’s nothing open at present, so rule xx applies: “if it’s not open, don’t open it”.

Blue Doggy’s Delectable Delights of the Day
    B: plain porridge
    L/S: apple
T: 2 fruit scones, strawberry jam, clotted cream, pot of tea
D: hm tomato soup, steamed haddock with fennel, peas and carrot, cinnamon yogurt

  • Well done on the chocolate free life, Dumpling, I can't have any because once the flood gates are open, there is no holding back!

Sorry about the gain Izadora, but I have a theory with newly gained pounds. I swear that if you get back on track really quickly, they don't get time to settle in and stay. ;)

Wishus, I am sure the one bite of chicken burger won't hurt.

Bfh, I know what you mean about the travel anxiety, have a great time and enjoy the walking! :)

BlueDoggy, I am glad you had a great time and you are sticking by the not open rule, LOL!

I have had an enjoyable day and managed to only go over plan by one soya cappuccino. I am a bit upset by a parcel that has gone astray while I was out - Hermes sent an evidence photo of a doormat that it is sitting on. Only trouble is, it isn't my doormat! Hopefully it will turn up eventually. :(

Izadora external factors can make it so difficult to control what we eat or drink, I'm always envious of people who stop eating when stressed (I know I probably shouldn't be) :)

Blue Doggy glad you enjoyed your cream tea, as a substitute for lunch it shouldn't have done too much damage and good company always makes it taste better :)

    Enjoy your break Bfh

I hope all your visitors weren't too tiring Dumpling :) well done on giving up the chocolate :D. It's not easy, old habits are really difficult to break and the occasional slip is understandable

Hope the parcel turns up FrugalLina,

Unfortunately the senior manager dropped a box of chocolate biscuits on the table in front of us this morning, I think he could hear us swearing  I have the absolutely no willpower but we did agree after three each that they needed to be moved to the kitchen :o. I did get out on time tonight :) which meant the cat got fed on time so tonight my wool may be safe :rotfl:

    B - porridge and fruit
L - split pea and ham soup from the freezer
D - black bean burger, chips and salad
    S - 3 chocolate biscuits, grapes
