  • Aw, thank you tighteningthebelt, both my son and my sister have offered for me to stay at theirs, but I am coping really well. LOL at the benefits for weight loss. I will be shivering it off. I am not looking forward to my weigh-in on Monday, the bathroom is freezing and I weigh with no clothes on. If I have a gain this week, it is because I am wearing a million layers. :p

At the weekend, I shall be eating at my sisters and also enjoying her luxury bath with water jets and everything - bliss! :)

Put all your tempting stuff either in the loft or on very high shelves - make it too much of a bother to access. I have done that before and it works.

Hello Murphybear and welcome to the fold. You will find a lot of support here. Sounds like you have been doing really well so far and I am sure you will get into those designer jeans in time.

    Evening All

Well sadly I am remaining on the naughty step with a gain of just under 1/2lb on so +0.5) please.

I'm so annoyed as I thought I'd behaved myself (well more than the previous week), I have 1 week to get a loss in before my birthday next week as there will be cake (the children like cake for everyone's birthday!) and other (probably) naughtyish food.

Work has been okay this week I'm off for 2 days and then back in on Saturday, time to catch up on housework tomorrow and meeting a friend for coffee on Friday.

Welcome Murphybear, sounds like you are doing very well and I'm sure you'll be in those jeans in no time xx

Sorry your boiler is still not fixed FrugalLina , these things always pick their moment to break down, never in the summer when it's less of an inconvenience!

Cranky hope your car is fixed now and wipers are wiping.

Nice to get some of you Christmas yummies now Tighteningthebelt , before dh started watching what he ate I use to keep all our bits at my Mums until Christmas Eve as things would mysteriously disappear :rotfl:

    Today's meals
    B porridge, mixed berries
L split pea and bacon soup
D jacket pot and cottage cheese (yuk) or maybe normal cheese and beans :D
Probably a yoghurt later with my tea.

  • Good evening everyone :)

CRANKY40 I hope your car’s windscreen wipers are mended now. We do need them so much these days. :)

honeythewitch your train journey sounds horrible, I hope you find a nicer meal next time you’re stranded. :)

Brambling how lovely that your mum saw three generations of her descendants. Snap! My mum was 92 as well (would have been 108 yesterday), they made them of strong stuff in those days. :) I hope your working from home day went well, and your cat enjoyed having you at home.

FrugalLina :) Devon Rexes are very cute! :) I don’t recommend being cold as an aid to weight loss - I’ve tried it, it’s miserable and doesn’t work.

wishus congratulations on your loss :j

tighteningthebelt Dads can be really awesome :) ; I still miss mine. I hope you win the contest with the snacks - don’t go and break your lovely row of smiles on Brambling’s chart!

Murphybear hi  and welcome! What a great weight loss you’ve managed already! I have similar collections of clothes, plus a suitcase full in case of disaster (regaining what I lost).

SIRENS hugs. You may find your week of being good pays off next weighing day :)

I managed a good two hours of tidying in the garden this afternoon, in between washing the dogs’ bedding. It’s tipping down rain now, so I’m very glad I wrapped up and did it.

    Dishes of the Day
    B: fishfingers and tomatoes,
L: vegetable soup with 2 plain oatcakes, 2 oatcakes with jam, m’waved apple with sultanas, fat free yogurt
D: tomato salad, herb omelette with peas, carrots and celery, yogurt with rhubarb

Welcome Murphybear  that a great loss in less than two months :). Do you want to set a target for what's left of this quarter?

Well done Wishus on your first loss :T. It can't be easy juggling eating and doing your gigs, too many temptations on the way home

Sirens no food is forbidden on your birthday, as you say a new week to start over :)

Blue Doggy the cat objected to strangers in the garden (I had gardeners putting the garden to bed for the winter) and a strange man talking indoors, I was on a conference call :rotfl: I had to explain several times that he couldn't sit on my lap whilst I worked. My mum told us she was dying for over 30 years  it seems a gypsy told her she wouldn't live past 60, on the eve of her 61 birthday my brother arrived with a cheap bottle of Asti and popped the cork at midnight :rotfl: ,we were more amused than she was and only her blue eyed boy could have got away with it  it was my poor dad that only made it to 70 probably because he never complained about his health

I'm reporting a -2lb loss this week :T there has too be some benefits of no taste :rotfl:

I'm working from home again tomorrow I have a last minute optician appointment in the afternoon, which as I've been told not to drive I think will include those dreaded stinging drops in my eye. I've an intermittent blur spot in one eye, it's like there's a fingerprint on my glasses if that makes sense, I phoned hoping for a weekend appointment and was told it had to be tomorrow. I'm hoping it wouldn't be raining so hard as it is now, as it's a two mile walk each way, and I've no idea on the buses as I never use them

New to this thread, can I join please

I started mid September on a serious weight loss journey. A combination of low carb and a brand new diabetes regime. The latter helps the weight loss plus it has dulled my appetite which means it is easier to not overeat.

Since 18th September I have lost nearly 24 lbs. :D

My ultimate goal is to lose another 35 lbs then see how I feel then. I am hoping to come off a lot of my diabetes meds, low carbs plus occasional fasts have proved successful in this respect

I have a box of clothes marked “can nearly get into” and when I tried them on there was only one item I couldn’t get into. :T This has been a real help to my confidence and self esteem. Plus of course a “new” wardrobe.

I also have a suitcase full of clothes which require much more weight loss so fingers crossed. I read a useful tip a few years ago. It said rather than be too obsessive about jumping on the scales hang up in plain sight an outfit that is too small and try it on once a week.

My outfit is a pair of Calvin Klein casual fit jeans that I nought in the USA nearly 30 years ago. I WILL get into them again ;)

:eek::eek: This September? Crikey thats a big loss. You must have cast iron willpower! :)

Sirens, never mind about the not quite half a pound. Sometimes weight loss can appear to be a week behind, so let hope you have a "wooosh" next time. :)

Well done on all the losses so far this week and commiserations to the ones who didn't for whatever reason. My weight loss has always been very up and down, a typical yoyo dieter but I am hoping that my no chocolate, cake or biscuits regime will keep me on the straight and narrow at least until Christmas Eve.

Speaking of which, Asda opened it's Christmas delivery slots this morning to those with a delivery pass. I managed to bag an early morning December 23rd one so fingers crossed they manage to bring what I have asked for. It was well weird (and cheaper) not buying all the bags and tubs of chocolate, biscuits and all the other junk that I used to live on but a packet of mince pies definitely made it into the basket :D.

Anyway, my food today has been this:

    b - 2 dippy eggs and soldiers
    l - a cheese and pickle sandwich
d - veggie toad in the hole, cauliflower, green beans and carrots with gravy
s - 2 slices of toast with low fat cheese spread

A bit bread heavy again, I am going to have to watch that.
Hope you all had a great day whatever you got up to, take care xx
  • Dumpling, thank you so much for the Asda tip... you have saved my bacon, and my brothers bacon too as I've just passed the info on to him. I am very grateful. :)
