I have not been on this thread for years, I could not tell you my current wieght as I do not own a pair of scales but I know it is decreasing due to my uniform size.

At the beggining of September I visited my Dr, my thumb and wrist had been hurting for 8 weeks+, initially I thought it was a soft tissue injury and coulD not go to a Dr with thumb ache - but it had now gone on too long and was affecting my work and life! The dr felt it was a fracture of my scaphoid and refered me for an xray that had to wait a week as I was going on holiday for a week the following day.

She also told me i had sky high blood pressure, was most probley diabetic, had high colesterol, kidney disease, thyroid problems and was obese! Yes i knew i was fat!! She sent me for a whole lot of fasting blood tests, again had to wait a week due to holiday.

Yes I have high bp and colesterol, but everthing else came back clear, except the xray which shows a healing scaphoid fracture that has not displaced.

Since seeing a Dr about my bp (and monitrring at home) and for my results - he said it was not that bad my bp was high and my colesteral was only just high, no treatment needed just diet and exercise. I started walking to work and back (2 miles each way, taking salad, fruit, yogurt and nuts for breakfast and lunch (can't eat first thing). Now the weather is colder it is home made soup or pre baked jackets to heat up at workin place of salad, As a vegetarian i have increased my protien and calcuim intake as well as my fruit and veg intake and lowered my fat intake.

My bp is in the green rather than the red (upper green) but a huge difference! About a month ago I went down a size in my uniform and now my new uniform is beggining to feel loose!! I have just got new long sleeved tops in the same size as the short sleeved tops I was wearing before it got cold and will stick with these, but I will need to drop a trouser size very soon.

Good luck to all of you in you quest!

Edit to say I am also spending less on food than I was before .. no ready meals or takeaways!
Well done for regaining your health, sillyvixen. :)

Happy Monday, hope you all have a nice weekend. It was a lovely one spent with family for us.

Well done all those of you who have lost and those who haven't keep on going, every small step makes a difference.

I've STS this week. Went for my first run in 3 weeks on Saturday and on the whole have been pretty in control of food, although we did have some treats at the weekend.

We've a couple of busy weeks coming up. A trip to London for me for work tomorrow evening and Wednesday. This week we're off out to a Christmas market on Thursday and then for a meal. Friday I am setting up for selling at a festive market over the weekend and we have decided to treat ourselves to fish and chips on Friday night with a voucher we won at a raffle a while back.

The weekend will be busy with the Christmas market both days, hopefully a successful weekend and hopefully fairly on track food wise too. There's a lovely farm shop very close to the market venue so we'll be popping there for some lovely fresh fruit and veg and other bits after on Saturday.

STS is good. :) I do like a Christmas market, unfortunately where I live the stallholders have been corralled into a small space which is almost all just food and booze.
I will have to make a special trip to a good one. Does anyone know where the best are? I am in Liverpool.

Well done Cranky :T nice and steady losses at the moment :). Yes you're right I have asthma, it's not too bad at the moment but as you say colds usually cause a flare up, I've upped my preventative inhaler hopefully I'll head it off. Before I got his lordship from the CP I thought about kittens and did look at Devon and Cornish Rex but decided as I can no longer get home lunchtimes and my friend is no longer a neighbour who can pop in I would rescue an adult, he was 5 when I got him and I was told he doesn't play nicely so has to be a only cat :)

FrugalLina how annoying about the boiler, do you have a hot water bottle or a wheat bag?

Dumpling I agree with Cranky about taking a snack to bed, if you don't want to take biscuits what about a banana?

Wishus you've seem to be really busy gig wise at the moment :)

Blue Doggy it would have been my mum's 100 birthday yesterday she just made it to her 92 birthday, we'll sure it was to ensure she saw all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Last time I was at the cemetery at Easter it had obviously been visited by deer as there were only stems in all the vases as very delicately each flower head had been eaten :)

Today we seemed to have been busy doing nothing  four hours of meetings which meant we spend a lot of time talking with nothing getting done :wall: I'm working from home tomorrow but I'll have to dial in to help testing our new system upgrade . I know I've been grumpy today so probably not a bad thing, lack of sleep and 35 minutes to travel a mile this morning :o they have two sets of temporary lights the other side of my work town so it seems every one decided to come in my usual route

B - porridge, banana and blueberries
L- HM vegetable soup, one of those bottom of the fridge type soups
D - LO new potatoes chipped in the air fryer, burger and onions.
S - grapes, tube of smarties, cough sweets

Aw, BlueDoggy, we never forget our mum's do we?

Yes, senior pets deserve a bit of extra care for all the love they have given us over the years, it is the least we can do for them. :heart2:

It is great that your car will be fixed tomorrow, Cranky40 and it is good that you got to use it today. I hope it doesn't cost too much.

I was introduced to Devon Rexes by a friend, too. She was in contact with a breeder and we would often go and visit the kittens, they are adorable - all ears! They suit me because I suffer with asthma and I don't have a reaction to their fur.

I do have a wheatie, Brambling, what a good idea! That is going to get a lot of use now! :T

How amazing that your mum would have been 100 today, but living to 92 is very good indeed.

I hope your journey is better tomorrow and you are meetings free!

Hi Honeythewitch and Tighteningthebelt and anyone else reading this :hello: - sleep well tonight and I hope you have a good day tomorrow.

    Hi everyone
Sorry I've been a bit quiet, it's been a funny few days with one thing and another!
wishus no wonder you need a rest! Your schedule makes me gasp. Your home made bread sounds lovely.

sirens the lemon chicken was lovely, thanks for sharing the recipe. I never grew out of losing clothes, much to everyones despair! I think it's because I'm hot blooded taking my own insulation with me!! Hope you finished knitting your jumper and you're pleased with it.

izadora I'm trying to visualise 6 tonnes of crisps!!!

frugalina come and stay at mine if you like. I'm so sorry its going to take all that time to fix. Cold comfort but I was watching something the other day on good ol' YouTube about being cold making brown fat and that burns calories. I'm very sure you'd rather be warm though! Well done on your loss :j :j you are my nemesis!!! How did you get on with your popcorn maker?

bluedoggy I rely on my dad for all sorts of things. He's a superstar. The other day he turned up at teatime with a can of wd40, unbidden, and wandered around the house checking and oiling the 'moving parts'. The great nephew and golden crysanths sound so lovely.

brambling sorry to hear you're poorly. I do hope you pick up soon. Thank you for keeping us on track with the smilies, it's so encouraging.

honeythewitch totally agree with you and brambling about m and s. It's such a shambles you can hardly believe people are paid to run it. I could have written the exact same post. Now, a cold fish burger? Thats a disgusting thought!!

sglover well done on picking up the running, even though you are so busy! I hope your sales at the weekend are successful. Are you a maker? A STS is really good. :j

cranky40 knitting is very therapeutic, keeping your mind off your troubles. Excellent loss this week, well done :j Hope your car fix is cheap and painless. Must say though, if I had a snack bag I would hear it call8ng in the night!!!

debboedodge did you decide Wednesday for your weigh day?

need2bethrifty, molly41, cakeguts, sillyvixen hope you're all doing well. :)

Went to lidl with dad yesterday as they had a generous voucher deal. We got lots of things for Christmas. I was absolutely shattered when we got back. Now, I have sweet stuff and some booze in the house... TTB vs SNACKS! And later I'm going to the farm shop to get some posh chutney for a birthday present. All very high risk!!

Today's food will be a re-run of sirens' lemon chicken bake, with cabbage and mangetout, maybe some hot tomatoes with pepper on, see how it pans out. Stewed plums and hm yogurt.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

Edit.... wishus we cross-posted - well done on your loss this week, great news! :j and happy you had a successful time. :)

    :hello:

New to this thread, can I join please

I started mid September on a serious weight loss journey. A combination of low carb and a brand new diabetes regime. The latter helps the weight loss plus it has dulled my appetite which means it is easier to not overeat.

Since 18th September I have lost nearly 24 lbs. :D

My ultimate goal is to lose another 35 lbs then see how I feel then. I am hoping to come off a lot of my diabetes meds, low carbs plus occasional fasts have proved successful in this respect

I have a box of clothes marked “can nearly get into” and when I tried them on there was only one item I couldn’t get into. :T This has been a real help to my confidence and self esteem. Plus of course a “new” wardrobe.

I also have a suitcase full of clothes which require much more weight loss so fingers crossed. I read a useful tip a few years ago. It said rather than be too obsessive about jumping on the scales hang up in plain sight an outfit that is too small and try it on once a week.

My outfit is a pair of Calvin Klein casual fit jeans that I nought in the USA nearly 30 years ago. I WILL get into them again ;)
