  • BlueDoggy, your little great nephew sounds adorable, shame you weren't allowed to take him home. :D

Brambling, I hope your cold clears up quickly, all those meals in the freezer will be useful while you are recovering. :A

Hello debbiedodge, well done on getting back on track now, I have heard several people say they will wait until after the festivities as a NY resolution, but we will have a head start! :T

Woohoo, tighteningthebelt, that is amazing! Oh I love that ribena winter spice, my local supermarket doesn't sell it, so my sister gets it for me.:)

I hope your car is OK after it has dried out.

Wishus, I am glad your gig went well and that you coped with the unexpected takeaway. ;)

I have to go out shortly, but I am a bit upset as my boiler won't light, so the house is freezing. When I am back later, I can light the gas fires. My gas man will probably come out tomorrow. Typical on the coldest night of the year! :(

    Good morning all :hello:

I made a big mistake yesterday and joined my husband with his Indian takeaway. I had a tandoori mixed grill and Bombay potatoes but boy did I pay for it last night. As an after effect of being so poorly last month I have to use a commode as I cannot climb any stairs to the bathroom so my poor hubby was up and down last night helping me. Anyway, today I feel better but I am going to be very careful of what I actually eat.

So my meals today will be:

    b - 2 Weetabix, milk and sweetener
    l - a BLT sandwich
d - roast pork loin, swede, carrots and cauliflower
s - banana and an apple

It's lovely to be back in the land of the living and to meet you all. Welcome to Debbie too. I didn't want to weigh this morning so I will weigh in tomorrow and I also would love to lose another stone before Christmas.
  • How lovely to see Dumpling back safe and sound. :)

I had an annoying clothes shopping trip with my daughter yesterday.
What on earth is going on with Marks and Spencers? Anyone would think they were trying to sabotage themselves on purpose.

We couldnt find most things we liked in our sizes (just 16 and 10, so nothing unusual) and the lighting is so dim you can never be sure of the colour, and it is hard to examine the clothes properly (which you are forced to do because they tend to put returned clothes back on the rail)

We tried things on over our clothes in the middle of the shop, because the new policy is for everyone to be allowed to use the changing room they are "comfortable" in. No thanks! And we ended up in Primark to get the things we would have bought in M&s, if they had stocked them.

A lot of it is just silly stuff, like dont they think that if someone is spending a fortune on a cashmere hat they might like to buy a scarf and gloves to match? There was only hats, and these didnt match the colours of the jumpers etc.
I give them three years, unless there are drastic changes. It is a shame.

    Food yesterday.

    Chicken salad .

    Egg chips and peas.

    Can of lager.

    Afternoon All
Well have just sat down for a bit and picked up my knitting or a bit, trying to finish ds jumper, I have finished a scarf for my cousin and a hat for my Dad, so going well.

Fairly quiet day today catching up on cooking and tidying, have made a bacon and yellow split pea soup for dinner tomorrow,

Got ds new PE kit, thankfully it was just his polo tops, last time he lost the whole bag containing bottoms and new trainers!

Sorry the India food had an ill effect on you Dumpling, you probably need to ease in gently and stick to mild foods for a bit xx

Brilliant loss Tighteningthebelt well done you :T

Honey I find clothes shopping very frustrating, as for M&S I only really buy underwear from there now, most of my clothes I buy from TU in Sainsbury's I find they wear well and are very well priced.

    Today's food
B 2 slice toast and marmite
D Beef Rendang (curry) with steamed rice, stir fried spinach and hm naan.
Have made pineapple upside down cake for pud later with a bit of custard :D

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday xx

Welcome DebbieDodge  I'll add you to the list, you can pick a day to weigh in which suits you, just poke me if I miss one :) I think we have all been trying on and off, it's a constant battle for me

Tighteningthebelt wow another great number, keep those smiles coming :). I had to re-read your groaning suspension comment, I was going to suggest a trip to A&E :rotfl: hopefully not too much damage to the car.

Dumpling you should have stuck to your original plan, difficult I know as you were celebrating your DHs birthday :) I hope you are feeling better now, I'm assuming too much fat and spice after a hospital diet.

Honey when my sis and I were in M&S we said the same thing, some of their clothes are just weird. What annoys me is they dress their dummies and then put it no where near where that item is located. I use to like their Indigo range and was cross when they stopped doing it

FrugalLina hope you got the boiler working, not a good time to not have a working one

Wishus the dangers of a kebab shop after a drink they have led many a person astray :)

Another quiet day with just me and the cat and we haven't been talking most of it after he woke me up before 7am to be let out (he has a litter tray) it's a shame as it was a perfect walking day but I'm a little out of puff at the moment  still no sense of smell or taste which means food is boring, but my tummy is still asking for it  no real cooking today just pinging of LOs

    L - chicken soup
D - beef, red cabbage, root veg mash, green veg
S - banana, slice of tea loaf (found lurking in the freezer all alone :D)

    Have a good week all

  • Oh dear, Dumpling, the curry must have been too rich for you. I hope your tummy is better today. :)

Honeythewitch, I know what you mean about M&S, they used to be great, what a shame they are doing so badly. I think they make more money on the food side, so I bet that is all they end up being in a few years. :(

Sirens, you are doing well with your knitting! :T

Brambling, my cat would have been in the dog house too, if she woke me early. Luckily, she only goes outside if the temps are above 20degC. :rotfl:

So, my house is rather cold, I have been out for most of the day and put the fire on for a bit, but think I will get into bed with a heated blanket and a fidgety cat. The boiler man will come tomorrow, I hope it is nothing major. :(

  • Good evening, everyone :)

tighteningthebelt Fantastic!!! :j:j:j. Very well done on your loss. I hope your car hasn’t suffered any ill-effects after its paddle.

FrugalLina what a nuisance about your boiler choosing to play up just when we’ve a cold snap. I hope the boiler repair man can put it right tomorrow.

    DebbieDodge welcome!

Brambling, dumpling Hoping you both feel better soon.

Today was weighing day, and I’ve managed to lose another 1 lb :T

Today was also cooking day: I made a big pot of celery-plus-saved-veg-trimmings soup, which has yielded 8 portions, and a big mixed game casserole with onions, parsnips, mushrooms and chestnuts (made 6 or maybe 7 portions). While that was cooking I baked some chicken pieces to have with salad during the week.

    Food eaten today:
    B: porridge with cinnamon
D: taramasalata with celery crudit!s, game casserole with cavolo nero, yogurt with rhubarb & ginger
T: plain omelette with mixed veg, cinnamon yogurt

I have not been on this thread for years, I could not tell you my current wieght as I do not own a pair of scales but I know it is decreasing due to my uniform size.

At the beggining of September I visited my Dr, my thumb and wrist had been hurting for 8 weeks+, initially I thought it was a soft tissue injury and coulD not go to a Dr with thumb ache - but it had now gone on too long and was affecting my work and life! The dr felt it was a fracture of my scaphoid and refered me for an xray that had to wait a week as I was going on holiday for a week the following day.

She also told me i had sky high blood pressure, was most probley diabetic, had high colesterol, kidney disease, thyroid problems and was obese! Yes i knew i was fat!! She sent me for a whole lot of fasting blood tests, again had to wait a week due to holiday.

Yes I have high bp and colesterol, but everthing else came back clear, except the xray which shows a healing scaphoid fracture that has not displaced.

Since seeing a Dr about my bp (and monitrring at home) and for my results - he said it was not that bad my bp was high and my colesteral was only just high, no treatment needed just diet and exercise. I started walking to work and back (2 miles each way, taking salad, fruit, yogurt and nuts for breakfast and lunch (can't eat first thing). Now the weather is colder it is home made soup or pre baked jackets to heat up at workin place of salad, As a vegetarian i have increased my protien and calcuim intake as well as my fruit and veg intake and lowered my fat intake.

My bp is in the green rather than the red (upper green) but a huge difference! About a month ago I went down a size in my uniform and now my new uniform is beggining to feel loose!! I have just got new long sleeved tops in the same size as the short sleeved tops I was wearing before it got cold and will stick with these, but I will need to drop a trouser size very soon.

Good luck to all of you in you quest!

Edit to say I am also spending less on food than I was before .. no ready meals or takeaways!
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
