Old Style Weight Loss 2019 Part 4

I had to go and see the nutritionist about my weight management programme. Only to be asked why have you come to see me? I got a prediabetes diagnosis and the instructions to lose some weight which I had been trying to do for ages but was always too tired. They also discovered that I didn't have enough vitamin D3. Got the vitamin D3, got more energy than I have had for years and then lost over 2 stone since the beginning of July. I had lost the 2 stone by the time I got the nutritionist appointment.
I have quite a strict diet that I need to follow that is low in fat as well as very low in sugar and gluten free. I have had two pieces of cake since July.
I need to lose another 5kg and then see if I need to lose any more.
Breakfast is usually gluten free porridge made with water and sprinkled with chia seeds.
If I need a snack I eat a few almonds.
Lunch today was a stew made with lentils, kale, an onion, carrots, potatoes some broccoli and a vegetable stock cube.
Followed by a small number of blueberries with low fat natural yogert
Evening meal 5 seeded gluten free oat cakes with very low fat cheese spread, an apple, and 3 desert spoons of fat free fromage frais.
I have instructions to eat a lot of fibre and not much fruit because of the sugar content.
I have chosen not to eat refined sugar if I can avoid it. I eat 100% dark chocolate which took a bit of getting used to but now I can't leave it alone but it has to be restricted because of the fat content.
I don't have diabetes I am trying to stop myself from getting it.
The secret ingredient though is gardening and walking.
I actually love my diet because I feel so well on it. The quality of my life has improved a lot since starting it.
I have 5kg to go but don't expect to have lost it by January but we will see.0 -
Good evening, people
Izadora sometimes only a biscuit binge will do ... tomorrow is another day, and you can start again. Hugs. You can do it.
wish us well done on the gig, getting the breakfast and not getting the ice.
tighteningthebeltI’m glad you’re enjoying the bake :T
Brambling sorry about your cold. I hope you’ll feel better soon, your healthy food should help, lots of vitamin C. The play sounds very interesting.

About the measurements: the suggestion was to measure bust, waist and hips, and also the tops of each thigh, and “the widest part” of the body (tummy, in my case).
Food of the day:
B: porridge
L: jacket potato with baked beans, appletaramasalata with celery crudit!s, steamed plaice with peas, broccoli and carrots, cinnamon yogurt.

I can't guarantee on a daily update because I often forget to do things but I will try.
I am not sure about the measurements. All I can tell you is that I had to buy 3 new pairs of trousers because all the others fall down.0 -

It sounds like you have done amazingly well already, and if your health issues are under control already I suppose there is no real rush to lose the last little bit?
I would be wary of dark chocolate if you are avoiding sugar, because half the bar is usually sugar, even with the best brands, but we dont always realise, because of the bitterness. I was awfully surprised. You can get a fairly decent sugar free version though.
(Unless you only eat a couple of squares, of course? )Blue_Doggy wrote: »Good evening, people

Funnily enough, having found myself "inbetween" places again, I was hoping to find somewhere to buy something wholegrain and vaguely healthy, but every single cafe had been turned into a wine bar, and even the little Sainsburys was nearly all booze. It must be a stressful place to live or something.0 -
Hi tighteningthebelt, I hope your day was a good one, too.
Wishus, I think they should be giving you hot toddies, not iced drinks in these temps (it has gone even colder this evening)!
Sorry about the gain, Izadora, if you have been on track, then it is just the body adjusting and you may see a larger drop in a week or even two. Sometimes that happens and you just have to wait it out. It is frustrating though. Forget about biscuit-gate and start afresh tomorrow.
Oh, my cat was called Katie because we allowed my son to choose her name and his favourite friend at the time was called Katie.
The schnitzel was good, it was soya based and a bit expensive, but a great treat, I felt. I had it again this evening.
Honeythewitch, I may have to check out those chips, they sound good!
Brambling, I am glad you enjoyed your red cabbage too, cranberries would go well with it and would be good as a dish for Christmas (sorry) dinner.
I hope your lurgy doesn't cause you too much discomfort and it clears up PDQ!
Cakeguts, you have done well with your diet so far and well done on avoiding diabetes. I agree about the gardening and walking!
BlueDoggy, your food is on point again. I haven't heard of cinnamon yogurts before, but might mix some cinnamon into my Alpro yogurt to have with stewed apples, that would be very nice.31.5/1000 -
honeythewitch places without proper food shops do seem to be more of a thing, don’t they? Or when they do have food shops they tend to be very expensive. You’re probably right about a place like that being stressful to live in.
FrugalLina thank you. My cinnamon yogurts come out of the same pot as the marmalade yogurts, and the real-fruit raspberry ones. I just buy a big tub of plain, and mix in whatever flavour I want. Cinnamon is good because it’s a great flavour, sugar- and fat-free, but takes any “sharpness” off the yogurt especially the fat-free sort.
I’ve no idea what today’s lunch will be, as I’m meeting my new great-nephew and his parents today :j:T:j
B: bacon and eggs
L: ???depends on what Lunch will have been.

Wowser, Cakeguts you've done amazingly well!
OH got taken out by his colleagues for lunch yesterday, and I had snaffled him some free pizza from a work function for his lunch today. I have a daytime gig, and a train journey... so his yesterday lunch I made for him is my lunch today, then! It's okay, I like it, and it's not wasting food.
Then OH wants me to meet him in the pub after my gig and journey back, so it'll be a game of dodge the chicken shops I imagine. I'm going to propose another fakeaway… sweet and sour prawns with noodles and egg-fried rice. No onions for his IBS, though he's feeding his IBS beer which is worse.
So, my plan today:
B: 2 slices free cold pizza
L: veggie frittata and new potatoesfakeaway s&s prawns
S: persimmon, bananaKeep reading books!
July grocery challenge START: £150.
total SPENT £127.53, REMAINING £22.37.0 -
blue doggy I've been making yogurt this last week or two, it started life as a yellow sticker pot of live. I've devised an incubator from a bedside cupboard with a lamp in, insulated with bedding. It's working fine. I strained the one I made yesterday after I read you can use some whey as a starter for the next batch (not tried yet). I'm feeling quite the domestic goddess. Will now add the cinnamon!!
Brambling sorry you're poorly. Hope you have a good rest over the weekend.
Cranky hope you're doing ok.
FrugalLina I had a cat called Dave once, after my son's favourite neighbour. For a cat he was especially bold, so he became known as Dave the Brave!
Honeythewitch we have had a refurb of our local coop. The booze aisle is lit up like LasVegas and the rest is quite gloomy. To be honest I didn't notice til my friend who has sight problems pointed it out, and shes quite right. Maybe it's a way of selling more to people with tender hangovers.
Izadora Salem is a super name! Aww, I'm so happy for you.
S_glover how are you getting on now?
sirens hope you are feeling better now. How was the lemon chicken? (I have chicken ... I have lemon ... who could ask for anything more?)
Wishus love how you balance economy and calories, spinning plates indeed.
Cakeguts - welcome! You're doing so well, you'll have to change your name soon!! Post when you can, we will always be pleased to have an update.
Well, yesterday's food plan turned out to be a lie. That's the problem with intentional posting. It usually works a dream, but theres the percentage that are edits or out and out confessions!
I actually had bacon and eggs, soup, banana, stewed plums, hm yogurt.
Today will be keema and rice with yogurt and sauteed cherry tomatoes. Then banana and more plain yogurt.
I'm going to have to flex my willpower muscles though. I had a really bad night's sleep, and I've got quite a few things to do today. A recipe for disaster.A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0 -
Morning All
Well I'm feeling a little more lively today, managed to get a good nights sleep and I'm now on the tickley cough stage. My Saturday off today which is just as well, was planing on pottering around the house but ds has lost his PE kit...again so I have an hour walk to the uniform shop to replace it..again, that's the second one since September
I guess the fresh air will do me good and the steps.
Tighteningthebelt the chicken was lovely, it was this one http://www.slimmingeats.com/blog/lemon-garlic-chicken-rice-traybake. I think you could make it with any type of seasoning or all veggie,
Izadora there is room on our step for you, but we shall all be getting off it next week, so don't get comfyI know the biscuit tins siren call all too well. I love the name Salem, perfect for a black cat, we have 2 cats, I made the mistake of letting the children name them, we have a tabby named Pickle and a black cat named Rainbow, named by ds who said she was beautiful like a rainbow.
Brambling hope you are feeling better soon xx
Today's food will be

Hello everyone :hello:
Sorry I have missed the first few weeks of this challenge but I was very ill in hospital. I'm home now and feeling a lot better so I'd like to start again please. I actually have lost 3 stone in 5 weeks but I am not going to count that as for half the time I didn't eat at all due to being unconscious . I will weigh myself tomorrow or Monday and take whatever that says as a first loss (hopefully).
It's lovely to read everyone's posts and see how you are all doing. I have been trying hard to stick to smaller portions, healthy food and no junk apart from the odd packet of crisps. I haven't had any chocolate for 5 weeks and don't really have the cravings for it that I did, however, I suspect that if I had some I would want more and more so I am just avoiding it for now.
Todays menu so far has been:
b - 2 Weetabix with milk and sweetener, 2 crumpets with marmite
l - chicken and prawn stir fry with extra beansprouts and a few noodles
d - my lovely DH wants an Indian takeaway for his tea as he missed his birthday when I was still in hospital. Not sure what I am going to have yet as I really don't want some greasy fried food as it will have a disastrous effect on my tum.
s - banana and an apple
Hope you have all had a great day so far and made good choices, take care xx0
