Evening all :). just sticking my head around the door to confess to a +1lb gain :(. I would blame my sister but she has texted to gloat a STS this week

Molly Thanks for the update on Dumpling and well done on the trousers :T definitely a none scale achievement :)

You know they say cats chose us Izadora, once it had made up its mind It was a done deal. Mine was a rescue one, he has his quirks but was obviously mistreated so he's allowed them :)

I use to drink a lot of lemon and ginger tea, thank you for reminding me about it Blue Doggy:). I've been thinking fish fingers today, seeing your breakfast choice I may succumb later this week

Slightly menopausal moment this morning and I took the container of apple and blackberries to work for lunch rather than the split pea and ham soup  I was too busy to go out to get anything else so had it with a fibre one bar.

    B- porridge and fruit
L- apple and blackberries, fibre one bar
D- cheese and coleslaw jacket potato
S - grapes, sugar snap peas

  • Evening everyone. :)

    Food today.

Chicken breast, sprouts, mash, onion gravy.

Chocolate pudding (a "healthier" version made with oat bran and very low fat spread instead of heaps of lurpack) and custard.

    Morning all,

sglover can I add my 'welcome back' to everyone elses? It's never a straight line for anyone. You're back on the wagon now, that's the only important thing. Dont look back.

honeythewitch so sorry to hear you're having trouble at work. Its nasty when that sort of thing happens. Work's hard enough. Your choc pud sounds nice.

brambling sorry about the gain ... glad you enjoyed the party!

izadora so pleased to hear you've got a cat! How lovely. I hope it brings you much happiness. Has it got a name yet?

molly41 taking your trousers in!! Wow. You're doing so well and you've not even officially started yet.

dumpling :hello: :heartpuls must say sepsis isn't a diet I would try! Seriously, glad to hear you're on the mend.

wishus well done on getting another booking, you must have gone down really well with the audience.

bluedoggy I have lots of rules (commandments?) When I'm dieting. I'm pretty good at creating exceptions too!!!

    cranky excellent loss!! :j

    sirens hope all is well

My news today is that i have now lost a third of the weight i need to lose! And on the very same day I've lost that magic 10% of my starting weight. I'm quite thrilled. So, I just have to do what I've done two more times. (Caps to self...) THEN KEEP IT OFF.

    Food today;
(Edited to add - Bowl of butternut soup)
Last of hm quiche, mash, carrots and cabbage
    Stewed plums and hm yogurt.

    Job today;
Alter 3 pajama bottoms and the top of a nightie.
I'm going to make a butternut soup for the freezer. I found a nice new recipe for a smoky spicy one. My kind friend gave me a butternut, and peeled and chopped it for me.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks

honeythewitch I can't stand bullies. I'll come and get them for you - I'm just in the mood. I went running yesterday and my reward was that my car windscreen wipers were no longer working when I came out of the gym. The garage can't fit in fixing them until next Tuesday, sigh.

So cats have "quirks" then Brambling? I wondered what the technical term was for that thing they do when you tell them not to do something and they give you a dirty look then go ahead and do it anyway. Ours isn't allowed on the table. I have a photo of her imperial pretiness (she's a Korat) planted firmly in the middle of my table mat...smirking. For information Izadora when people say that cats have staff they aren't joking :rotfl:

I think I'm doing ok this week despite coming back from best friend's house with a giant bag of assorted sweeties. I've put them away for treats. My work shifts this week are all 12-4pm so I've had a bacon and egg toastie at 11am which just about keeps me going until I come home and have an earlyish tea. Next Monday is the awkward one, it's 11am - 3pm. No lunch break.....then back to 12-4 for the rest of the week thank goodness.

I have two hats to take to work today that I've knitted for the people that I work with (they're more than colleagues but not quite good friends yet IYKWIM) and three more to do. That should keep my hands too busy to eat.

Take care all of you :)
  • tighteningthebelt, that sounded like a lovely trip to the garden centre and the food sounds delicious.

Congratulations on losing a third of your weight to lose and on losing 10% of your starting weight - that is amazing! :T

Let us know how the butternut soup comes out, I may have to try that myself as I have a squash on my counter awaiting consumption.

Bluedoggy, you are so right about chocolate and biscuits not going with herbal teas! My favourite is fennel tea and I have a pot of it every evening. I suddenly realised that the Twinings teabags just include seeds, so I bought my own fennel seeds to grind - much cheaper! :j

Sorry about the gain, Brambling, but I am not surprised with such a social week. I am sure now you are back to normal, it will come off quickly. :)

How funny that you took the wrong food to work, oh dear!

Honeythewitch, the chocolate pudding sounds interesting!

Cranky40, I think your plan for your shifts sound good and the evening knitting will certainly help keep your hands away from reaching for food - great idea and your colleagues will be really delighted. ;)

I am still crocheting in the evenings, I have one scarf finished and have started another one, plus I have promised to make a little heart for a friend who requested one. Need to hunt out a pattern for that.

    Morning All,

Wishus I'm glad the gig went well, they must've been impressed to book you for another, and good luck with your busy time ahead.

s_glover Well done for realising that you were reaching for the sweets without thinking.

Frugalina I hope yesterday's fasting went well and good luck with the crocheting

TTB Your garden centre lunch sounds lovely and massive congratulations on the 10% loss. That is such a good achievement :T

Blue Doggy I wish I liked ginger, anything which makes chocolate and biscuits taste weird has to be a winner

Brambling Sorry about the gain, especially with your sister gloating, but I hope you enjoyed the socialising.

Honey The healthy chocolate pud sounds lovely

Cranky I hope you enjoyed the run and sorry about the car. I know what you mean about when colleagues are somewhere between just someone you work with and good friends. It's lovely that you're knitting hats for them.

We've got the cat home and he's not happy about not being allowed out (fortunately we'd asked our landlord ages ago about getting a dog and got an email a couple of weeks ago to say that we could, so I'm sure he'll be fine with a cat) but seems to be coping reasonably well other than that. Seeing as he's totally black and reminds us of the cat from Sabrina we'd always referred to him as Salem so that's the name he's stuck with now :D

I definitely agree that cats have quirks and staff but I hadn't realised how much I miss having a cat until he adopted us and he really is quite lovely

    Afternoon All
Well I'm joining you Brambling with a gain of +1lb

Ho Hum I knew it was coming as I was rather naughty on Sunday, but I shall plod on regardless.
I'm struggling with a horrible cold at the moment, my sore throat is always the worst bit for me so I'm drinking lots of lemon and ginger (nixed the honey to cut down on sugar), luckily I'm off the next couple of days, and don't have much planned so should be all back to normal by my return to work. Just hoping dd doesn't catch it as her mocks start next week, and usually if someone's giving away germs she's first in the queue!

Well done on your double loss Tighteningthebelt you must be chuffed, that's a great achievement :T

Hope you are well on the road to recovery Dumpling , I'm sure it will be much quicker now you are home.

Sorry you are having troubles at work Honey, people can be so mean sometimes xx

    Today's meals will be
B backed oats with a tbsp of mincemeat, fruit
L 2 potato cakes, baked beans and maybe a fried egg.
D I'm trying backed lemon chicken with rice from the slimming eats website, the kids liked the look of it so we shall see.

Brambling, I admire you for persisting with the apples and blackberries for lunch. Lunch pudding!

My plan today is based on trying to be super-organized for the next couple of days. My venue tonight is doing a burger/drink deal, but I needed about 600 calories, so they are doing an all day veggie breakfast that works out at 654. :D And it's cheaper. :money:
... just hope we get there in time to partake.

    plan then:
    B: porridge
L: veggie frittata with herby new potatoes and peas.
    D: veggie breakfast
S: banana, apple, and a little homemade fairy cake (someone's birthday).

  • frugalina butternut soup was superb (souperb?!!)

    This is the recipe
    https://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-southwestern-butternut-squash-soup-recipes-from-the-kitchn-213095
I didn't have jalapeno, and had to make adjustments for a couple of spices so I used what I had that was closest. I got the impression it was quite a forgiving recipe.
I put a couple of handfuls of orange split lentils in for protein. The butternut fell really nicely, so on reflection I dont feel it was actually worth going to the trouble of liquidising it.
9 portions, 2 tonight, 2 in the fridge, 5 in the freezer!
Just going to edit my previous post to add the soup into todays food!!
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
