Well done on your 1lb Cranky :T. I like to visit London occasionally but I'm always glad to get home and I only live a hour train journey away
S_glover I've been known to not only fall off the wagon but to watch it disappear into the distance as well, all too many times since I was a teenager. All we can do is keep plodding along trying our best, if it was easy we would all be size 10
. Lovely to have you back
I'm also a emotional eater, unfortunately i eat for every emotion good or bad, food was a treated as a reward when I was growing up, money was really tight with very few treats therefore if there was a small amount of extra money there would be something 'naughty' sometimes as simple as a Lardy cake from the village bakery with the Saturday bread order.
As you can see I'm avoiding the pizza in the room. I succumbed to a pizza last night and 'forgot ' to order the one with the middle cut out served with salad, which I regretted after I had eaten it. My nephew made a chocolate cake and my small slice was not that small, he told me it is what I serve him when he asks for a small slice  it's family thing none of us know the meaning of 'just a small piece' oh well done now but I've eaten far too much wheat this week and I'm definitely feeling a little off because of it
.
Nothing wrong with liking gin Blue Doggy, the teacher probably needed it after a week teaching :rotfl:
Izadora i hope IsHe keeps his germs to himself and doesn't over share
B-porridge and fruit
L - HM lentil, sweet potato and bacon soup from the freezer and crackers
D- Gnocchi and white beans baked in a tomato and veggie sauce also from the freezer, label said lamb shanks so a little surprising. I made the mistake of rushing and eating before tai chi so I'm now suffering from indigestion I think I need to take a light snack to eat at 4ish , if I don't eat I rumble in the quiet moments
S - packet of Pom bears, 2 x fibre one brownies
i saw the pizza with a hole in on the website and thought it looked a bit miserable.
No point going out if you dont enjoy yourself, I think.
Food today.
Pork chops. Banana.
Peanut butter and jam on toast. Grapes.0 -
Thank you Brambling, Izadora, Sirens and BlueDoggy, it is exciting seeing the smiley faces adding up!
Wishus, I love how easy cous cous is, thanks for the butterbean and mushroom burger idea, I will give that a go.
Tighteningthebelt, that is a good idea about the warm water, a slice of lemon would be a nice addition, too.
Glad you are able to post again, Cranky40 and well done on your 1lb loss. Great news that healthy eating has resumed!
Izadora, I know exactly what you mean about the head space for dieting, there just needs to be that magic switch in the brain to turn on, but sometimes it gets stuck. Stress doesn't help! Also, I don't know if you have done the same, but I have yo-yo dieted all my adult life and I am always aware that the first 2-6 weeks on any diet (and I have tried them all, I think) can be quite tough before you get into the swing of it and the stomach shrinks a bit, then it becomes a way of life and not uncomfortable at all. But the trouble is, our stupid brains seem only to focus on those first couple of weeks and how difficult it will be.
I always say to someone, give any change (could be any other bad habit or building a new good habit) 6 weeks, then it will feel much easier. And look how quickly 6 weeks passes - 24th September is 6 weeks ago, I was still in France and that seems like only a short while ago!
Anyway, my thoughts, not sure I made sense! I hope DH is OK now and you don't get it!
LOL, tighteningthebelt - 2 gobstoppers, that is so funny!
Oh dear SGlover, that is quite a gain, but well done on facing up to it and on your new resolve. You can do it!
Sirens, I hope tomorrow is better for you and fingers crossed that your scales show a loss after all.
Honeythewitch - after eights, mmmm.
Brambling, what a lovely time you have had with family lately, I know it has come with eating difficulties, but it is nice to have that time with family, nevertheless.
I can't do any exercise after eating, can only do it on an empty stomach, so I think you eating something light at 4ish, then something else light when you get back might work.
Well, today has been a bit hectic, I ended up helping my niece move some furniture ready to be taken to her new house tomorrow and a bit of cleaning too. Then ran several errands with my sister and I came home ravenously hungry and ate a bit too much for dinner, dammit. Will have to reign it in tomorrow.:o31.5/1000 -
Hello x
Just thought Id update you all that Dumpling is home:j
She has been very poorly and has subsequently lost 2 1/2 stone but Im sure we'd all agree health is the most important thing x
Hopefully she will feel up to posting on this supportive thread x
On the positive front Im having to have my new black trousers altered:eek: as they are too baggy and I want the wear out of them.
Keep positive xxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

That is super news, Molly. Thank you for letting us know. I hope Dumpling is back to full health very soon.0 -
Morning All,
Thanks for the well wishes for IzHe, fortunately he's fully better now and seems to have managed to keep his germs to himself. I'm now hoping that I make it through the coughing and spluttering of fellow commuters and colleagues similarly unscathed
TTB & Blue Doggy Hearing stories of how embarrassing kids can be makes me kind of grateful that I don't have any
Sirens I hope that today at work manages to be just busy enough and without any equipment failures
Honey Sorry to hear about your colleague situation and I hope it improves soon.
Brambling I have your nephew's problem with understanding what a small slice of cake is as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the evening out with family.
Frugalina I hope you've recovered from your hectic day yesterday and thank you, you made perfect sense. I've always struggled with my weight and have yo-yo dieted since I was a kid, I'm not sure I can actually remember a time when I wasn't dieting or beating myself up for not sticking to a diet...
Molly Thank you for letting us know about Dumpling. Agreed that it's not how you'd want to lose weight but I hope she's doing better now.
That's fab news about the trousers too.
Also, it looks like we officially have a cat
We took him to the vet on Monday and he's not chipped so they took him in and are going to neuter him and treat his eye today. A charity they work with very kindly said they'll cover half the cost of his eye treatment and we've got a voucher from Cat's Protection for part of the cost of neutering so hopefully it won't be too painful a bill. He's only been gone for two days and I miss the annoying demands for attention already!!0 -
Hey everyone - last night was a good one! Accidentally drank a full-sugar cola someone bought me (because I askeed for diet but they didn't serve any), but was very pleased to discover a bottle of Nanny State is only 26 calories.
My dinner ended up being a YS M&S chicken and avocado sandwich on the way, and a YS small prawn and pasta salad on the way home.
Ended up being booked for another thing, which means I'm going to be super busy this week and need to be very prepared. I only have tonight to sort out all the prep.
Today's plan:
B: peanut butter on toasted homemade bread.
L: tuna rice salad.spaghetti with mushroom, aubergine and red pesto
S: YS sushi, apple
Then got to think about lunches for Thursday and Friday. Got some new potatoes, veg, eggs... Could do potato salad with egg and tomatoes, or plain/herby potatoes and veg frittata, or savoury pancakes. Thinking frittata...
I think I may have to think about getting food out on Thursday because OH has said he wants hot food, so taking a cold wrap or salad won't cut it. The venue does food... might be an all day vegetarian breakfast or shawarma for me then!Keep reading books!

Thank you for welcoming me back with open arms.
Yesterday was a good day, although I did realise (when dipping my hand into the bowl of left over sweeties from halloween), that just reaching for food without thinking has become too much of a habit over the last few weeks and I need to stop myself and think before I just dive in!
We had a big bowl of asian noodle broth last night with lots of veggies and it was absolutely delicious.0 -
Molly41 thanks for letting us know about Dumpling, I bet she is glad to be back home.
Great news about your trousers! :j
Izadora - how lovely that you are keeping the cat, I hope you enjoy many happy years together.
Wishus, good luck tonight and the rest of the week. Your food plans sound good, too. :T
s_glover, I know what you mean about the mindless eating. I find I appreciate everything I have more now that I am being more careful.
Your noodle broth and veggies sound lovely!
As for me, well, today is a fasting day, so I shall just have a healthy dinner, I am not as tired today so hopefully, I will be more sensible this evening.31.5/1000 -
Hi everyone,
Just a quick post to declare my food.
I've been to the nearest garden centre for lunch with my lovely friend. I haven't been for ages and had forgotten how delicious everything is, the service fabulous and all points of detail perfect.
I had a lamb and mint casserole, 2 potatoes, cabbage broccoli carrots leeks.
Pud lemon and blueberry cheesecake that probably contained a day's allotted calories on it's own.
Latte and caramelised biscuit, two mint imperials.
That's my calorie blowout for the week! Very nice too.
I'm aware that it's a long time from lunch today to teatime tomorrow so I may have soup and an orange later if needed.
I will catch up tomorrow.A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0 -
Good evening, everyone
tighteningthebelt that lunch sounds really lovely. So glad you had a good day out with your friend.
Molly41 thank you so much for the good news about Dumpling :T How excellent to hear that your new trousers are already too large.
FrugalLina after your busy day I’m not surprised you were extra hungry.
s_glover well done on the awareness of unconscious habits
wishus congratulations on a successful evening :T. Meal planning is a good way of being prepared.
Izadora good news about IzHe’s cold, and your new cat.
honeythewitch don’t worry about your multiple posts, I can’t do multiple quotes at all, so you’re way ahead of me.
Brambling the main thing is, you enjoyed your time with your family. Now you can go back to Polo pizza and no chocolate cake (until next time).
SIRENS I hope today has been less hectic. Well done Mr Sirens for cooking dinner!
I’ve been getting my ginger fix from mugs of lemon & ginger infusion, which lets me play another rule “no chocolate or biscuits with herbal teas”. It’s not as hard to stick to as it might be, because choc & biscuits taste odd with it.
In Blue Doggy’s bowl today:
B: fish fingers and tomatoes
L: jacket potato and baked beans, apple, marmalade yogurttomato salad, steamed cod, peas, & butternut squash, cinnamon yogurt
S: 2 biscuits“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️
