  • That butternut squash sounds nice!:)

Waldorf salad (celery apples walnuts grapes yogurt)

    Egg on toast.

And I have STAYED THE SAME this week. :( Again!
  • Good evening people :)

honey the witch STS is not a gain anyway, however frustrating, and it may well go down again next weigh-in. :) And the chocolate pudding sounds intriguing - is it a recipe, or your own creation?

tighteningthebelt :j very well done! It’s good to celebrate the milestones! Your butternut squash soup was a triumph!

wishus I hope you got your breakfast, and your gig went well.

SIRENS hoping your cold is better soon :)

Izadora it sounds as though Salem has landed on his paws! It’s not just ginger tea that makes chocolate and biscuits taste odd, I find peppermint tea and most other herbal infusions have the same effect.

FrugalLina good tip about grinding your own fennel seeds for tea. :)

CRANKY40 I’m not sure I could entirely resist the call of a big bag of treats...

Brambling that’s what sisters are for! Sibling rivalry. Still, “tomorrow is another day”. I’ve got a bit of a “thing” for fish fingers at present, after not thinking of them for ages.

Today was SM shopping day, and I was lucky to find a whole leg of Welsh lamb, boned and rolled and reduced by over £10! It is now transformed into 4 leg steaks and two small joints for roasting, all in the freezer. That’s the lamb for three months.

I was looking over some notes I made several years ago when following another diet, it didn’t work for long but a useful idea was to measure one’s “vital statistics” (plus some others) when weighing-in. I found that sometimes although I didn’t lose weight, I lost inches. Which was cheering.

    What I ate today:
    B: porridge
L: ham and egg with tomatoes, cucumber, fennel & tzatziki, cinnamon yogurt
D: prawn, chicory and tzatziki salad, steak with broccoli, parsnip & butternut squash, cinnamon yogurt
S: 3 oatcakes with marmalade (pre-shopping snack to prevent hunger-shopping.)
“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”

So cats have "quirks" then Brambling? I wondered what the technical term was for that thing they do when you tell them not to do something and they give you a dirty look then go ahead and do it anyway. Ours isn't allowed on the table. I have a photo of her imperial pretiness (she's a Korat) planted firmly in the middle of my table mat...smirking. For information Izadora when people say that cats have staff they aren't joking :rotfl:)

I have one of those photos Cranky, taken just after I did my Christmas table decorations  I walked passed the table and had to do a double take when I realised his lordship was sitting in the middle of it. My last cat as a kitten would answer the phone upstairs if I didn't answer it quick enough downstairs (old type phone where you use to have to take it off the base to answer)

SIrens come and join me on the naughty step, if we're lucky it wouldn't be close to the food  I can sympathise with the cold as I'm also coming down with the lurgy I woke up to day with a sore throat and the sniffles, I'm hoping I'll lose my appetite

Honey a STS is better than a gain although I find it annoying when I can maintain until I need to then I gain

TTB - well done on your 10% :T are you weighing in today as there's no number? Thanks for the soup recipe I need to make soup this weekend and I have some squashes which I can use instead of butternut

Izadora i was told to eat something like a gherkin or pickled onion if you're craving chocolate as it makes the chocolate taste horrible, I must remember to try it next time :o

Blue Doggy i have five sisters all older, so there's a lot of sibling rivalry even through were all old enough to know better :D I envy you your welsh lamb i love it. i also agree about measuring yourself especially if you've had a bad week lbs wise sometimes the inches have come off

I went to the local art centre tonight to watch a NT live showing of a play called Hansard it was really good, just two actors playing a married couple very powerful. I drank plenty of water to stop coughing, unfortunately no interval for a wee break :p

I remembered to take my lunch in today and popped out lunchtime to stock up on lemons and fresh fruit and veg for a healthy weekend

    B - porridge and fruit
L - split pea and ham soup
D - lamb and aubergine curry from the freezer as I was pushed for time tonight
S - high fibre bar, sugar snap peas, cherry tomatoes, grapes

  • Izadora, your new cat sounds quite a character, Salem is the perfect name for him. I used to have a cat called Katie and the local kids used to call her Salem, too. :)

Get well soon, Sirens, once you are better, that pound will come off easily enough, I am sure. :D

Wishus, I hope you got the meal you wanted!

Thank you so much, tighteningthebelt, that soup does indeed sound souperb (lol), I shall add that to my repertoire (and the addition of the lentils is a good idea). :T

Argh, Honeythewitch, how annoying to STS, you will probably have a good drop at some stage, so hang on in there.

BlueDoggy, that is good advice about measuring our statistics, I haven't done that, but will indeed give it a go, it will be good to see those results at times when the scales aren't cooperating.

Get well soon, Brambling, I am glad you had the correct lunch with you today :rotfl: and that you enjoyed the play this evening.

I had a delicious meal this evening of vegan schnitzel with red cabbage and cauliflower rice. It reminded me of a meal my mother used to make when we were growing up, except hers was bashed pork instead of veal. The red cabbage was done in the pressure cooker and took very little time compared to how long it takes to cook normally. I have plenty of leftovers for dinner tomorrow! :j

  • Brambling no, it wasnt a proper weigh in, just couldn't wait til Sunday to share! Thank you. That play does sound good.

    Today;
Soup, bluedoggy's fennel bake, jelly, stewed plums and hm yogurt.

Have a good day everyone. :)
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks

Thanks everyone, happy to report I did get the veggie breakfast, and very glad of it I was too as the upstairs room for performing was pretty cold! I find it strange how I keep having to catch the bar staff before they add ice to my drink, too. It's 6 degrees outside, people!
    But yeah, went well.

    today's plan
B: Avocado and tomato toastie, banana
L: Veggie frittata and herby new potatoes and peas, peach yoghurt
D: Fakeaway Friday - breaded fish fillet, hoomestyle oven chips, mushy peas.
S: apple, hot chocolate and mini marshmallows.
    Keep reading books!

    Hi All,

The naughty step's going to be a bit busy this week as I'm a +1lb gain as well. I'm a bit annoyed as when I weighed myself yesterday morning I was showing a 0.5lb loss and, while I wasn't particularly good, I really didn't think I'd eaten badly yesterday. I have to say that I dealt with the disappointment stunningly well, by falling into the biscuit tin for breakfast... :o

Sirens Sorry about your gain and I hope that you're feeling better now

Wishus I'm glad that the gig went well and you managed to get your breakfast. I think most venues automatically put ice in drinks as it's a good way to fill up the glass and use less drink.

TTB Thank you for the butternut soup recipe, it sounds lovely.

Honey Sorry about your STS, it is definitely better than a gain though and hopefully you'll get a good loss soon.

Blue Doggy Well done on the bargain lamb and thank you for the reminder about taking measurements as another way to track progress.

Brambling I hope your lurgy doesn't take full hold and that you're feeling better now. Thanks for the tip about gherkins and pickled onions making chocolate taste weird. I can't stand gherkins but I do love a pickled onion - if I ate one every time I wanted chocolate I'd definitely get a seat to myself on the train :rotfl:

Frugalina I love that you had a cat called Katie, I always like it when pets have people names :D
The vegan schnitzel sounds interesting. I've seen them in the supermarket sometimes but, as I've never had a normal one, I wasn't sure what they'd be like.

I hope everyone has a good weekend xx
  • Evening everyone. :)

Izadora, I know exactly what you mean by indulging in biscuits if you have a gain.
It all seems quite pointless when you try hard and nothing happens.
I am sure that in the long run, eating sensibly most of the time will result in a healthy weight, but I wish it was a bit quicker. :D

    Today I had.

    Accidental sausage roll in Greggs.

Roast chicken, sprouts, chestnuts, and these chips... https://www.iceland.co.uk/p/iceland-low-fat-straight-cut-chips-1.2kg/76875.html#start=1 done in the oven. I was absolutely amazed when they turned out exactly like chip shop chips.
Not that i actually wanted chip shop chips. :D

    And grapes.

I hate it when that happens Izadora, don't get disheartened sometimes it will show next week :). We have to make sacrifices for a slimmer figure :D a train carriage to yourself would be seen as a benefit by some :rotfl:

Thanks Tighteningthebelt, I'd hate to miss any of those lbs coming off :rotfl:

Dumpling hope you're recovering at home and taking things easy :)

I also went down the red cabbage route FrugalLina :). Mine was a la Delia done on the hob with cranberries, nice and quick (well 20 mins) I haven't tried it in the pressure cooker before, maybe with the second half

Lurgy looks like it's here to stay for a bit, I woke up with a blocked nose and a mouth like the bottom of a birdcage :o unfortunately I'm in the feed a cold mode, but currently it's been lots of fruit and veg rather than those annoying carbs and sugary things

    B - porridge and fruit
L - bean and vegetable soup from the freezer 2 oranges
D - beef brisket, red cabbage with cranberries, green beans, tenderstem broccoli and root veg mash. Plenty of LOs so I wouldn't be tempted by 'naughties' tomorrow

Hope no one is being affected by the floods, have a good weekend all
