I'm just popping on to say that I have lost 17lb this week! I am totally amazed and thankful. I know I have reached my target so can I add another 14lb to it so I have something to aim for before Christmas. Thank you xx

That's fanastic Dumpling especially as sometimes being on hospital food (or in your case no food) it can mean a gain once you get home :T:T I've updated the chart to say 31lb target let me know if you want me to amend.

FrugalLina - another good weigh loss :T you're another one with lots of smiles. I hope your boiler is now fixed?

Well done on the STS S_glover :T enjoy the Christmas Market hopefully not too many samples to taste. What will you be selling?

  • Thanks for the good weight-loss-wishes everyone! :A

Unfortunately, I am still without a functioning boiler as my boiler man can't come until tomorrow. I've been out all day in a warm building, but now I am home, I have gas fires lit and electric heaters everywhere, plus cat and I each have our own heated blankets for bedtime, so we are surviving.

I am wearing several layers of clothing, with a hat, giant tatty cardigan and fingerless gloves. I look like I could star in Steptoe and Son. :rotfl:

    Good afternoon all,

It's weigh day again so another 1 lb off for me please.

dumpling I'm glad to see you back. I hope your continued recovery wll be straightforward and quick.

Brambling sorry that you're feeling rough. I seem to remember that you're asthmatic like me? If I catch a cold it seems to drag on much longer than for some people due to the breathing issues. Fingers crossed that you feel better soon.

Frugalina I hope your boiler is fixed quickly. We've bought a heated mat for Pixel the cat as she's 10 now. For the first week we thought she'd lost the use of her legs as she hardly moved from it. Our other cat Sarah died earlier in the year of renal failure and whilst Pixel didn't exactly like her, she was OK to sleep next to for keeping warm....without her the mat seemed a good choice.

I should be doing all sorts of things but I'm sitting here knitting instead and hoping that whatever has stopped my car windscreen wipers working will be an easy fix - it's in the garage today. This is not a good time of year for not having windscreen wipers!

Take care all of you :)

I thought I'd been so organised, but I ran out of the house yesterday without finishing my dahl in the slow cooker. OH tried to help, but couldn't find my lovely cooked onions and garlic, so added some new chopped raw - not as nice! And then drowned my lentils. He was mortified when we came home to find we had clear lentil soup, but a bit of drainng, more spices, and a touch of passata and I rescued it.

For those wondering, my gig was a bit meh. A cold room, and a stage dominated by giant cheese plants. Some things landed, others didn't... A few things were a bit bothersome about the whole night, but I'm revising some of the story I tell, and hope one tonight goes better. I have another this week, but I need a rest, and shall get that soon.

    Plan today:
    B: porridge
    L: lentil dahl, rice, yoghurt
D: bacon, soft cheese and cucumber sandwiches, carrot sticks, slice of fruit loaf.
    S: banana, 2 x Reece's Rounds.

    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

I didn't have a very good night's sleep last night as I woke up feeling so hungry that I felt nauseous. After a lovely cooked breakfast I am back to normal now whatever that is :D.

    Today's menu so far is:

b - scrambled egg, grilled bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and a piece of toast.
l - not hungry so just some fruit
d - roast pork in mayflower curry sauce with peas and onions and cauliflower rice

Well done wishus on rescuing your dahl, I've never thought of making it in a slow cooker before.
Cranky, I hope your wipers is an easy fix and the heated mat sounds lovely. Do you think they make them for larger than average people :D:D
Frugalina, hope your boiler is fixed soon. I am also wearing layers today as I feel so cold at the moment.

Well I wish everyone a great day whatever they are doing, take care xx
  • Yay, well done Cranky40! I hope your car is back soon and the wipers are working properly now. More heavy rain is due on Thursday, so you will need them. :(

My cat adores her heated mat, I am so glad I got it a month or so ago, as well as some XS doggy sweaters from B&M stores. She is a Devon Rex and doesn't have much hair around her neck and belly, and she is quite elderly. She was estimated to be about 8 when I adopted her 5 years ago and I can tell her joints aren't as flexible as they should be (I know the feeling) as she no longer jumps up to be in high places like she used to.

Wishus, I will cross my fingers for you tonight! ;)

Dumpling, sorry about the hunger waking you up and I am glad breakfast restored you. Keep warm! :)

Well, my boiler repair is going to take another week, my local boiler man can't fix it and the manufacturer is coming out next Weds. :(:( It is costly as well. I nipped out and got an oil-filled radiator and another fan heater, and cat and I are holed up in the dining room which is quite cosy. It is going to be a long week! :T

  • Good evening, everyone :)

CRANKY40 well done on your weight loss :j I hope your windscreen wipers will be sorted out quickly.

FrugalLina oh what a nuisance about your boiler, I’m glad you’ve got some temporary warmth. Your cat must be the same sort of age as Senior Doggy, they do appreciate extra warmth and comfort when they get old.

wishus all the best for your gig tonight, hope there won’t be so many cheese plants.

dumpling I hope you have a better night tonight.

Today was/would have been my Mum’s birthday, so I took some lovely golden chrysanthemums to the cemetery; my word it was a cold wind blowing there. I celebrated afterwards with a hot cuppa and a warm scone with jam.

Blue Doggy’s Delicious Delights of the Day
    B: plain porridge
    L: chicken salad, cinnamon yogurt
D: vegetable soup, game casserole with carrots & cavolo nero, rhubarb with yogurt
S: fruit scone, two teaspoons of jam

Sorry about your boiler FrugalLina. My car isn't fixed either - the part will be delivered tomorrow. I nipped round the corner and fetched the car home when they told me because it was dry this afternoon and I had something that I needed to collect (as well as the HT from school :rotfl:). I'd rather it was on my drive for the night too so I'll drop it back to them first thing tomorrow (it really is only round the corner). I hope you and the cat manage to stay warm. My friend had a Devon Rex and I keep looking at Rex kittens - they're so pretty. We won't be getting one though as her ladyship doesn't approve of other cats.

You need a snack bag dumpling. Sensible snacks obviously but the HT sometimes wakes up hungry in the night (less often now that he's older). We have night time snacks upstairs so I don't have to go trawling through the house. Usually digestive or rich tea biscuits. You only need one and a small drink of water...
