Declaring lunch...
Fishfinger sandwich with a few fries followed by a big fruity cheesecake. It was lovely. Glass of red. Flat white coffee. Lovely time.
Supper - grapes - maybe 20... forgot to count and I'm not digging the stalk out of the bin.
Yes, sweet chestnuts. You have to beat the squirrels!! They are smaller than shop bought ones, which are imported. Same with lots of our wild stuff.
I took a freshly fallen one (perfectly split just showing the brown inside like something your art teacher would bring for the class to sketch) to my neighbour who has been in hospital 5 weeks now. Thought she might like a bit of nature since flowers are banned. She really did.
brambling have I been very bad? You have taken a badge off the chart for last week. What do I have to do to get it back?? :sad:A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it

Comes in hanging my head in shamewhat can I say it's not you it's me :rotfl: my tablet doesn't like your user name and I was so careful not to lose you I lost your smile
. I'll put it back when I update the others. I haven't picked chestnuts since I was a child and you've brought back lovely memories of Sunday afternoon walks with my dad, picking either chestnuts, blackberries, conkers or wild flowers which shouldn't be picked now
my dad was a country man with no respect for fences or private property especially if he walked there as a boy 50 years before
Izadora sounds like it's been a tough year for you, sometimes you have to cut loose. Line drawn under this week and start again
Happy birthday Need2bthrifty :bdaycake: well done on a great loss and great timing as you now have a week to get over any indulgences from today :rotfl: enjoy
Honey As already said STS is still good, I do a lot of them
FrugalLina falling over your own feet is a skill which unfortunately I have always had as well. At least I'm young enough to fall over and not have a fall :rotfl: 10 miles is a good ride, I can't ride a bicycle anymore, they lie when they say you never forget
I went to see the National Theatre Live showing of A Midsummer Night Dream last night which I really enjoyed and meant I could avoid eating during the evening, just a lime and soda during the interval
Work was busy as usual and lunch ended up late today after 2.30pm which has thrown my meals. I was accused of eating my sugar snap peas with aggression, I may have snarled that it was a bad day and I wanted chocolate or gin and I only had fruit or veg.
B- porridge, banana and blueberries
L - a UFO from the freezer which turned out to be roasted veg layered with griddled aubergine and courgette, sprinkled with mozzarella I was organised to freeze with runner beans and broccoli
D banana and fresh pineapple
S sugar snap peas, cherry tomatoes, fibre one popcorn bar, 2 figs
I'm out and about Sunday afternoon and several evenings next week so I need to plan so I'm not caught out. A trip to the SM lunchtime means I'm stocked up with loads of fruit and vegLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Oh, thank you! I shall go and grab some on my walk tomorrow! I am glad your neighbour liked the bit of nature, too.31.5/1000 -

Brambling, your UFO sounds lovely and LOL at the aggressively crunching your sugar snap peas, that is half the fun of them!

Thanks for the cake. Happy Brithday need2b and congratulations on the lbs lost!!! :T
Well done to you also brambling a really good loss this time.
Better luck next week honeythewitch. It might all fall off by then.
FrugalLina bike ride sounds great!! Well done for getting going with that. My legs are so weak I cant seem to extend my time on the exercise bike without them turning to jelly, but then the nerves are damaged. I just keep thinking to myself "weight first" then there will be less work for them to do. Hmmmm :undecided
molly41 I am not to fussed about the celebrations, but I just love it when the clocks go back and I can go into semi-hibernation.
Went chestnutting yesterday. About to tackle shelling my haul. So pretty, it's a shame to do them. Almost.
Hi to everyone else
Arent the small ones even more of a nightmare than shop bought chestnuts? you must be very patient.FrugalLina wrote: »Well, I am feeling the effects of the bike ride today, sore patches at the top of my legs/groin area and achy hips. The hips were bothering me overnight, so I slept badly and I still feel tired today.
I also have blisters on my feet from walking on Weds - I am a wreck!
Anyway, I am glad I did it, I am rather a nervous cyclist, a bit slow and panic every time I hold up a vehicle behind me. I could do with L-plates.
Well done on STS Honeythewitch, sometimes the scales don't do what we expect them to do, all sorts of things come into play. They will probably show a good loss next week, so just keep on doing your best. Unprocessed whole foods are really a good idea, I've lost a lot of weight in the past by doing that.
Woohoo Need2bthrifty - that is a fantastic loss - YAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY and thanks for the cake! Have a lovely day and weekend. :j
Tighteningthebelt, you are probably right about cycling with less weight, I do feel as if it is hard work at the weight I am at, it makes sense that it will be easier when we weigh less.
Was it sweet chestnuts you were collecting? I have found several trees near me and wonder if it is worth picking them up. They seem quite small inside the spiky shell, so I was wondering if they were too early.
Izadora, the bike ride was good, but I am tired today. I have been known to fall off, but luckily, I haven't managed to break anything, I seem to have got the knack of "tucking and rolling" when I know I am going, so apart from bruises and grazing, nothing major gets hurt (well, I did dislocate my thumb once and passed out with the shock, but that is the worst bit of damage). I am just as likely to fall when I walk, I seem to have no sense of balance. I sprained my ankle badly this spring just walking and not seeing a pot hole in the road, honestly I am a total clumsy oaf.
Cycling, for me, though, has good mood enhancing properties, I just enjoy it so much. I can't drive for medical reasons, so it also gives me a sense of freedom too. I saw a jay and a squirrel on my ride yesterday and it made me so happy.
Sorry, I waffled on a bit there! Well done on not gaining too much this week, you have had a tough time of it, so you did well. Your weekend sounds lovely and good luck with making sensible choices. It can be done. :A
I miss cycling so much, but since my back injury it isnt possible. (yet!)
A few weeks ago my friend took me round the gym and showed me how to do a few things without causing injury.
All went well until at the end a devil got hold of me and i got on the exercise bike despite her warnings.
The seat was so uncomfortable I stood up, and i think that was what caused my five day immobility.
i havent given up though. I have bought a seventies chopper bike that needs a few bits restoring, but i am hoping that with the seat being padded, and the handlebars made so you ride upright, that eventually I will be able to cycle on it.
For those less ancient than me....

Good evening, everyone.
Thank you for kind your comments. I hope everyone who’s been feeling poorly is on the mend now.
Late to wish you Happy Birthday, Need2bthrifty, I hope your day has been really good. Thank you for the cake, and congratulations on the weight loss. Enjoy your weekend!
Tighteningthebelt your lunch sounds very good. Sweet chestnuts are beautiful, the contrast between the husk and the nut as they split is lovely, no wonder your friend liked your gift.
FrugalLina I hope you’re recovering from your bike ride. On a bike it’s much easier to appreciate the wildlife than in a car.
Izadora I’m glad your weight gain was small. Enjoy your weekend and your Mum’s birthday.
Honeythewitch STS isn’t so bad; best wishes for next week.
Brambling glad you enjoyed the play. Eating sugar snap peas aggressively! Wow! Someone around you was sensitive!
When I shopped in W’rose yesterday, I bought one of their £1 bags of root vegetables. An onion, a swede, a parsnip and three carrots, which I turned into ten portions of soup today. I’ve eaten one, two are in the fridge and the rest in the freezer.
Today:
B: plain porridge
L: fish fingers with mixed veg, cinnamon yogurtrooty soup, aubergine, fennel and tomato microwave “bake”, fat free yogurt with raspberries.

Honeythewitch, that bike sounds perfect, I loved the handlebar position on the old choppers.
The bike I am riding at the moment is an old-fashioned Dutch-style bike and also has higher handlebars. My other bike is a drop handlebar road bike, sleek and fast, but I may have to sell it as the discs in my neck are damaged and don't like the position - plus my hands go numb.
Be careful at the gym, stick to the recumbent bike if they have one, it is much easier on the back (and bum).
Thanks BlueDoggy, yes I have had a rather quiet day today, I am rather tired after yesterday, still working on getting my strength and stamina back.
Well done on the big pot of soup, that is so handy to have in stock for emergencies. I do like the sound of that bake, I had fennel today too (boiled in with the carrots).31.5/1000 -
Unfortunately Honey I can remember the original chopper  my friend Ruth who lived at the end of the road had one and was happy to share
.
I work in a small office Blue Doggy so the sound of crunching sugar snaps was loud, it was said with humour. My array of fruit and veg had caused comments this morning

Hi everyone, well it's the weekend all over again!
Declaring my food for today...
Boiled egg with tuna
Potato cakes with choritzo in, sauteed onion pepper tomato beetroot and chestnuts.
Jelly and 1 tablespoon cream. Apple. Grapes.
brambling thank you for amending my badges. If I had known I was still going to be on mse forums 12 years later I might have thought of something better. But then it suits this particular thread well, I've just made it to three holes further on than when I started losing weight, so that's a lot tighter!!! Thanks for all the work you do.A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
