Afternoon All
I hope everyone who was feeling poorly or in pain is on the mend. Annoyingly my right ear is still blocked up, it pops and cracks ever now and again but seems very reluctant to clear. The not so pleasing news from the nurse is that I will be "invited" for another smear in five years time - they've only gone and increased the age to 65
It was really chilly here overnight and this morning when I nipped out for onions to make soup the car had an orange snowflake showing on the dash board and the thermometer was at 3c
I've made a big pot of lentil soup and had some for lunch, just waiting for the rest to cool before portioning up for the freezer. I finely remembered to buy celeriac and I have some potatoes so I'm going to try Bramblings idea for boulangerie potatoes with celeriac which I'll have with my SC experiment involving a couple of bacon steaks
Well Done Brambling thats a great loss :T
Hugs if you need them Izadora, I've been there too.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Hello Again x
Thank you for your kind comments - yes i am looking forward to choosing some new clothes but will have to wait to Christmas:eek:
It's not too long now - I love this time of year Halloween, Bonfire Night then Christmas - which I absolutely adore - sorry to use the C word. Ive really been enjoying mince pies having not been able to eat them for four years as I had a series of blockages in my bowel which has now been removed. My husband said I looked like a kid in a sweet shop last Saturday when we went shopping:T
Well done on the losses x
Keep on keeping on.
Molly xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
G’day fellow hoping-to-be-losers! :rotfl: Thank you all for your kind comments.
Super loss, Brambling! keep up the avoidance of the biscuit tin!
It’s lovely when the soup season arrives, Need2bthrifty . Your cooking plans look good.
Izadora I lurve coffee and walnut cake! Sounds like a good brunch. Sometimes the only way to cope with tough situations is with wine. I hope you feel less fragile today. Hugs.
Mmmmm! Frozen cherries. Yum yum. Thanks for the tip, FrugalLina.
Honeythewitch I hope you’re feeling much better.
I’m sorry I didn’t post yesterday, I had a talk to give this morning, and being a bit of a Last-minute Lucy I had to really put my shoulder to the wheel and my nose to the grindstone yesterday. Had a very late night and put the finishing touches to it over breakfast. It went pretty well, and I did my W’rose shopping on the way home. I’m really tired now, no stamina!
Yesterday’s food:
B: fish fingers with tomatoes
L: apple baked in the microwave with yogurtspinach soup, mushroom omelette with mixed veg, yogurt with the last of the rhubarb and ginger.
S: 4 oatcakes with jam, bowl of cherry tomatoes.
Today’s:
B: porridge with raspberries
L: jacket potato with baked beans - and a bar of chocolate-covered marzipan (for stress-relief)will be tomato salad, chicken casserole like Sunday, yogurt with cinnamon
S: failed to refuse slice of cake at Generous Cooking Friend’s.

Ate the hobnob!!!
Today I've had;
A pack of mini cheddars, a sweet, the hobnob. Jelly and a bit of cream.
On the plus side I've had jacket with tuna and 25g cheese, radishes tomatoes and mange tout. Half a grapefruit. About 10 grapes.
Could have been so much better. Could have been so much worse. It's been a funny couple of days and I'm out to lunch tomorrow!
Ah well.
Best wishes to everyoneA bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0 -
Honeythewitch, the frozen Fibre One bar sounds lovely, it probably had more fibre in it than a choc ice, so better for you, I think.
LOL at the scruffy nighty!
That is a super loss, Brambling - well done! :j:j
Sorry about your day yesterday, Izadora, I hope you are feeling better now.
Wow, that was cold Needtobethrifty, it was chilly here, but I am sure not as cold. The soup sounds great, I need to make a carrot and coriander to be portioned up tomorrow.
You are right, Molly41, this is the best time of year!
BlueDoggy, well done on getting that talk done and on getting the shopping in afterwards.
Tighteningthebelt, you did well to resist that Hobnob as long as you did and today's food doesn't look too bad.
Today has been a fasting day and I just had the same dinner as yesterday's because I made it in advance last night and I just had to pop it in the microwave.
I had a feeling I would be tired after my cycle ride to my sister's. A round trip of about 10 miles, plus we had a walk because she was worried about a baby rabbit in the hedges nearby that appeared to have myxomatosis, but we couldn't find it. I hope it has found it's way to the comfort of it's warren, poor thing.
Anyway, that was a lot of exercise and I am pooped, but pleased to have done the trip.
I am glad you all like the sound of the cherries! I had heard of frozen grapes and shall try them as well now.31.5/1000 -
Evening everyone.:j:j -2.5lb loss this week
. Which has put me back to 0 but I shall briefly celebrate
I hope you got your meds Honey and are in less pain
FrugalLina I'll have a look out the cherries, I'm all for a low calorie sweet treatsometimes I need a sweet finish to the end of a meal with having dessert
Enjoy your shopping Molly
Work has been a bit manic so I've missed my lunchtime walk again between the showers, I planned to go out but got caught up in something and was then reminded at 1.30pm that we had a 2pm meeting
B - porridge, banana and blueberries
L - gammon and soft blue cheese spinach salad with figs - last of my cooked apples and plums
D - not as planned as I 'popped' out and didn't get back to 9pm so a couple of slices of wheaten bread, toasted with soft cheese and gammon
S- pineapple, fibre 1 brownie, sugar snap peasYou are doing great!
Frugalina Thank you for the hint about the frozen cherries. I tend not to eat much fruit but they sound like a really good way to get a sweet treat.
Honey - I know I would've been mortified too but your husband's attempt at bringing you clothes to hospital really made me giggle.
Brambling - Well done on the loss :T
I think the very best I can hope for tomorrow is only ending up back at zero but I fear that it's going to be a lot worse than that.
I'd been doing pretty well but yesterday I was working from home and didn't have much work to do. My husband then decided to dance around the kitchen imploring me to make cake, which seemed like a lot more fun than staring at my laptop, so I ended up having coffee and walnut cake for brunch
I then drank vast quantities of wine after having gone to my parents' house to make them dinner. It's been a difficult few months - my mum had a stroke in February - and last night's visit tipped me over the edge so oblivion seemed like a good place once I got home. To say I'm feeling delicate today would be an understatement and I fear that I'm not going to make the healthiest of food choices
Sometimes your well being is more important than dieting and it sounds like you really needed the wine, so I expect it will do you good overall.Blue_Doggy wrote: »G’day fellow hoping-to-be-losers! :rotfl: Thank you all for your kind comments.

i am glad the talk went well.my blood runs cold at the thought of giving talks and i admire anyone who can do them properly.
It was weigh in day.I have STAYED EXACTLY THE SAME despite what i thought was a reasonable effort.
I had
Three pears, packet of prawns.
Apple crumble ( I was in " might as well go the whole hog" mode)
mince pie.
Mince pie.
A few mini sausage rolls I couldnt keep away from.
For the next week I will stick to unprocessed whole foods, and see if that helps.0 -
Morning Folks, just popping in with a quick WI and yeah :j :j I lost the one I gained a couple of weeks ago plus 1.5 this week so very happy with 2.5lbs lost.
Its my birthday so no restrictions and I will be indulging a little this weekend, help yourself to some cake as you pass on through
:bdaycake:Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £113.010 -
:EasterBun
Thanks for the cake. Happy Brithday need2b and congratulations on the lbs lost!!! :T
Well done to you also brambling a really good loss this time.
Better luck next week honeythewitch. It might all fall off by then.
FrugalLina bike ride sounds great!! Well done for getting going with that. My legs are so weak I cant seem to extend my time on the exercise bike without them turning to jelly, but then the nerves are damaged. I just keep thinking to myself "weight first" then there will be less work for them to do. Hmmmm :undecided
molly41 I am not to fussed about the celebrations, but I just love it when the clocks go back and I can go into semi-hibernation.
Went chestnutting yesterday. About to tackle shelling my haul. So pretty, it's a shame to do them. Almost.
Hi to everyone else :wave:A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0 -
Sorry if I miss anyone or text goes wonky, I'm using my phone...
Need2B - happy birthday and very well done on the loss :T
Blue Doggy - well done on the talk, any kind of public speaking fills me with utter dread!!
Molly - I love this time of year too. Not so keen on cold weather but I adore Christmas
Honey - I know it doesn't feel good but STS is still better than a gain and hopefully it'll drop off next week instead
FrugalLina - That sounds like a lot of exercise, well done!! I'd love to go for bike rides but I don't have a very good sense of balance so am always terrified of falling off.
Tighteningthebelt - I hope the Hobnob was good and enjoy today's lunch
As predicted, I've gained this week. It was only +1.5lb so I'm back to zero for the challenge. I know I shouldn't be happy about a gain but I'm really pleased it wasn't any more than that.
I've got quite a lot on this weekend food and drink wise - taking my mum to the hairdresser and then for coffee and cake today, out with friends tomorrow night and then out for curry for my mum's birthday on Sunday - but will try to make sensible choices where I can.
Have a good weekend everyone xx0 -
Well, I am feeling the effects of the bike ride today, sore patches at the top of my legs/groin area and achy hips. The hips were bothering me overnight, so I slept badly and I still feel tired today.
I also have blisters on my feet from walking on Weds - I am a wreck!
Anyway, I am glad I did it, I am rather a nervous cyclist, a bit slow and panic every time I hold up a vehicle behind me. I could do with L-plates.
Well done on STS Honeythewitch, sometimes the scales don't do what we expect them to do, all sorts of things come into play. They will probably show a good loss next week, so just keep on doing your best. Unprocessed whole foods are really a good idea, I've lost a lot of weight in the past by doing that.
Woohoo Need2bthrifty - that is a fantastic loss - YAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY and thanks for the cake! Have a lovely day and weekend. :j
Tighteningthebelt, you are probably right about cycling with less weight, I do feel as if it is hard work at the weight I am at, it makes sense that it will be easier when we weigh less.
Was it sweet chestnuts you were collecting? I have found several trees near me and wonder if it is worth picking them up. They seem quite small inside the spiky shell, so I was wondering if they were too early.
Izadora, the bike ride was good, but I am tired today. I have been known to fall off, but luckily, I haven't managed to break anything, I seem to have got the knack of "tucking and rolling" when I know I am going, so apart from bruises and grazing, nothing major gets hurt (well, I did dislocate my thumb once and passed out with the shock, but that is the worst bit of damage). I am just as likely to fall when I walk, I seem to have no sense of balance. I sprained my ankle badly this spring just walking and not seeing a pot hole in the road, honestly I am a total clumsy oaf.
Cycling, for me, though, has good mood enhancing properties, I just enjoy it so much. I can't drive for medical reasons, so it also gives me a sense of freedom too. I saw a jay and a squirrel on my ride yesterday and it made me so happy.
Sorry, I waffled on a bit there! Well done on not gaining too much this week, you have had a tough time of it, so you did well. Your weekend sounds lovely and good luck with making sensible choices. It can be done. :A31.5/1000
