    Evening everyone. :)

I hope the weather improves for you Brambling, we've had too much rain lately.

I did manage to get out during a brief break in the rain yesterday, so I got a short walk in at least.

I found another pair of unworn jeggings in my "sports" drawer (old running and cycling gear, that I cling to hopes of being able to use again one day). Anyway, I must have bought the jeggings just as my weight began to soar last year :o and they obviously didn't fit. They are still too small for me right now, but soon they will fit, hopefully.

Honeythewitch, premade food in the fridge or freezer is a good idea - there is nothing worse than being tired and hungry and the effort of making something healthy seems too much when unhealthy food is all too easy. :T

Sirens, congratulations on being back to work, I hope the elbow doesn't give you too much trouble.

I weighed in this morning and have lost 3lbs this week. It is beginning to slow down now and soon it will be 1 or 2lbs a week, but that is OK, so long as I am not gaining, I will be happy. I must say, though, I feel as if I have had to put a lot more effort in to losing now, with more walking and being stricter with my food intake. It certainly isn't easy, but I suppose anything worth doing isn't easy.
Wow well done! Three pounds is a great loss. I know it will slow down, but if you lose a lot in the beginning it might give you the determination to continue.

:T:T that's a fantastic FrugalLina half a stone in 2 weeks :) and it's still raining here we are in a weather warning and it's about to throw it down again
More rain? i thoroughly enjoy a downpour and cold weather, but even I am getting a bit fed up with being permanently wet.

This really made me chuckle! You should have a medal for tact and diplomacy. And another for self-restraint :T. I blush to say, I’d probably have convinced myself to eat it by now:o.
It wouldn't have got as far as my bag! :D

    Today was easier. :)

steak pudding, chips and peas in a lovely cheap 1960s style cafe.

Prawn salad already prepared before I went out. *insert smug smiley here*

It is very strange that I find it so much easier if i dont eat in the mornings.
When i do, it is like I am actually starving.
I have got completely normal blood sugar, so it cant be anything to do with that, so it is a puzzle.
It makes it hard to incorporate the things i need to eat (dash diet style) for blood pressure without the third meal, and i know I must need it, because If i do aqua jogging after breakfast i am much faster than if I have nothing, even though I feel better without.

I went to Marks and Spencer today to get tights, thermals, leggings etc, but they have nothing.
If you find something you like, it is either the colour you want or your size is out of stock. Or never stocked at all. What on earth are they thinking?
my daughter couldn't find anything either so we went over the road to Primark instead, where we found everything m&S didnt stock, and at a fraction of the price too.
I didnt save anything though because i was tempted by a fluffy pink teddy coat i dont even need! :D

brambling you are so organised with your clothes. I just give away stuff that doesn't fit, in whichever direction. Not sure if its wasteful or pragmatic. I only have a little house and I'm constantly scouring round for things that can be "outward bound". It's a running joke with my mates who wont leave anything here just in case. I do envy everyone who has interim clothes and goal clothes all ready and waiting though. (Hate shopping) .

Last time I lost a lot of weight (4 stone 10 years ago) I cleared out all my clothes to CS and was never going to be that big again  when I put it back on again (and more) I kept my thin clothes determined to get back in them , just not sure once I can if I'll still want to :rotfl:

Trip to the local theatre tonight to watch the show Ballroom Boys (ex strictly dancers) with a friend and then a long gossip in the car when I dropped her off. Unfortunately she brought sweets and I may have helped her eat them :o no well power for me :o

B - porridge, banana and blueberries
L- HM veg and bean soup followed by cooked fruit
    D- gammon, bubble and squeak
    S- apple, grapes, sweets

    Morning All
Survived work yesterday, was a little sore by the end of the day but I can manage that, saw my manager half way through the day ( he only manages about 6 people) who said hope you're okay, hows your leg??? Well I suppose he tried!

Tighteningthebelt well done on biscuit-gate, that did make me laugh. Lucky for me the people who used to bring temptation with them to work are all gone now, my main manager (who is stick like) always has sweets about, but I'm not really a sweet fan.
Well done on another great loss Fugallina

brambling I do know what you mean, I can see how it would be an inspiration, esp if they are clothes you really like. This is the third time in 10 years I've been fat. So I have an unintentional capsule wardrobe :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously though, I do need to get some strategies in place around that. "On guard" military style. Maybe I could start a maintainers thread so we have a place for our weigh-ins and some long term support. It's good being here and it helps. Really helps.

Today I have noticed I've lost some weight off that bit where fat gathers at the bottom of your neck (edit - just googled its anatomical name - dorsocervical fat pad), its squishier, i am very pleased.

    Todays food...
    Apple and tuna.
Potato cakes with cheese and a little choritzo in, sauteed tomato veg slop, and savoy cabbage.
Grapes. Jelly and 1 measured tablespoon of cream.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks
  • Morning All,

Everyone seems to be doing really well :T

I'm finally starting to feel better and thinking about cooking again. I lost my voice and any oomph I had for quite a few days, eating only tomato soup and tinned pears with yoghurt but despite the cough mixture and decongestants I'm still deaf in one ear

I will wait until Friday and back to normal eating before I WI (a sneaky step on the scales did show that I'd lost my gain and a wee bit more but doubt it will stay that way :D)

Got an appointment with the nurse for my smear this afternoon, hoping this is the ultimate one
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £113.01
  • Thank you Blue Doggy - oh and I love crystallised ginger, it wouldn't last long if it was anywhere near me, either. :o

Tighteningthebelt, that was a very clever tactic regarding the Hobnob, I am sure I would have eaten it by now! Ooh, I have learnt something new, I didn't know that the neck fat had a name.

Thank you Honeythewitch, it is encouraging to get a good start and yes, my determination is stronger for the good losses. I just hope I don't get disheartened when they aren't so great.

How annoying that M&S didn't have what you wanted in stock, they will be moaning about their poor sales soon (as they always do) - but now we know why.
The fluffy pink teddy coat sounds lovely!

Brambling, that is me, exactly, I got rid of all my large clothes last time I lost, convinced that THIS time, I would never put it back on. I did keep many of my favourite smaller clothes for when (not if) I lose it again. Just need to learn to keep it off in future. Sigh. I think Tighteningthebelt's idea of a maintenance thread is a good one.

Got to laugh at your typo (or was it intentional?). I like the term WELL POWER, if we use will power to get fully well, then that is just what it is. :rotfl:

Thank you Sirens, I am glad you survived your day - and that your leg is OK, LOL. Seriously, I hope your elbow is none the worse for being back at work.

I am glad you are on the mend, at last, Need2bethrifty, fingers crossed you have managed a good loss by Friday. Good luck for the smear.

Frugalina - Don't put yourself down. Whether you've got half a stone or 12 stone to lose you're doing really well.

Blue Doggy - I hope you enjoyed the ginger. It's not something I like but I do have a really bad habit of picking when reading.

Tighteningthebelt - Your Hobnob story really made me giggle. And every day's a school day - who knew that neck fat had an actual name!! :D

Honey - You may not have saved anything but you got a new coat without spending any extra, that's definitely a win as far as I'm concerned.

Brambling - I'm another one who once got rid of clothes because I was convinced I would never need my fat ones again, only to regret it when I no longer owned anything which fitted.
I also had a lot of clothes to diet back into, the only problem was that I was in my early-mid 20s when I bought them and early 30s when I could fit back into them. The word "mutton" definitely sprang to mind when I tried them on :rotfl:

Sirens - I'm glad you survived being back at work. Bless your boss for trying, even if he did get it very wrong.

Need2bthrifty - I'm glad you're on the mend now and I hope all goes well with the nurse this afternoon.

I'm seriously in pain today - vast quantities of ibuprofen and a hot water bottle aren't coming close to easing my stomach - and all I want to do is eat a mountain of chocolate. I've so far managed to keep it kind of under control but eating anything even vaguely sensible is a bit of a battle today :o

Frugalina - no not intentional just fat fingers on a tablet, but at least i'm in proportion :rotfl:

Izadora - the problem is not only that I may look like mutton but the weight has distributed to different locations or slipped from where it was previously  I hope you're feeling better now, i can remember the embarrassment of my 20s of regularly being driven home from work by my manager as I would turn white and almost pass out with it. :o

Tighteningthenbelt - I seem to have mastered the art of eating, unfortunately not the art of maintaining once lost :( as soon as I stop dieting or healthy eating or whatever you want to call it, it creeps back on almost before you know it.

Need2bthrifty - ah the joys of being a woman  I have my mammogram next week, however i did have fun explaining to my colleague whose Indian what it involved, with hand gestures :D she thought it was just a scan :rotfl:

Hoping all those who are feeling under par are feeling better now :)

I've eaten a lot of fruit so far today in an attempt to avoid the office biscuit tin, hopefully I won't regret it later as my stomach is currently very vocal and tai chi is very quiet :o but today I'm winning :)

Food wise it will be almost a repeat of yesterday, the joys of eating / cooking for one, but as I was out last night and Tai Chi tonight it means I can get home eat and run and no one else to moan about the repetitive menu :)

B - Porridge, banana and blueberries
L - another portion of vegetable and bean soup followed by cooked apple and plums - I'll maybe have a different lunch tomorrow
D - will be gammon, air fried chips and LO cauliflower
S - nectarine, grapes, popcorn bar

  • You are so right, Izadora, I really need to be more positive, I am my own worst critic. I am so sorry you are suffering today, I hope you feel better asap.

Good luck with Tai Chi tonight Brambling, keep clenching and you should be OK!

Today, has been a fasting day and I have done really well. Although I had intended to cycle over to my sister's on my sadly neglected bike now that I am not too heavy for it, but it was dark and foggy this morning and I realised that I gave away my bike lights when I sold an older bike last year. So, cycle ride was cancelled, but I have been to purchase some new lights and fitted them, so that was an achievement at least.

  • Good evening, All :)

Wow! What a lot has been going on!

Brambling I hope your tummy behaved during Tai Chi.

Izadora Lots of sympathy, I’ve been there and know how ghastly it is. :)

FrugalLina :D hello, fellow ginger fiend! May your new lights always shine bright!

Need2bthrifty hope you go on feeling better and lighter.

Tighteningthebelt I like your idea of a maintenance thread. And completely agree about how supportive and helpful this thread is.

SIRENS how has your shoulder been today? Better, I hope.

Honeythewitch we’re all very different - you can’t get on with breakfast, I have to have it, but can miss lunch if I’m busy.

Clothes are quite tricky. I really dislike buying what fits my fat size, so only buy the minimum of stuff I really don’t like. I daren’t get rid of my fat clothes in case disaster strikes, although they will probably go if I can manage five years without needing them.

    Today in Doggyland
    B: porridge with raspberries
L: pub lunch out with friends, so white wine spritzer, large salad with duck, coffee (we didn’t even look at the desserts menu!)
D: sardine salad (using up Saturday’s fish), yogurt with rhubarb.

And - I saved the planet! I walked to the pub and back :A that has to be worth a fraction of a fraction of a nanomicrogramme of carbon :D.

    All the best for tomorrow.
