Right, I think I'm properly caught up with posts now (rather than skim reading due to being busy at work) but sorry if I've missed any...

Cranky The sprouts with googly eyes sound fantastic.

Molly Well done on getting out and I hope you're not feeling the effects too much today

Honey I always struggle with eating sensibly when I'm away and getting back to it once home as well. Also, fat free mince pies sound fab. How do you manage that?
I'm not really a fan of them but love little ones made with orange pastry and with loads of dried cranberries mixed through the mincemeat

Sirens I'm glad you had a good shopping trip with your mum and hope you enjoyed the Chinese

Tighteningthebelt I'm glad you've got your scales back and well done for avoiding temptation.

Bluedoggy I can fully understand waiting to weigh yourself when you know there's damage limitation going on. Sometimes it helps me to know where I am but other times I know that I'll be so disheartened that I'll give up. Best of luck for getting rid of any gain by next weekend.

Brambling Well done on not snacking. I'm trying only to eat when I'm hungry too, only problem being that I seem to be permanently hungry :D

I'm very glad I changed my weigh in day to a Friday as I've managed a -1lb loss this week.

I know it's only a small amount but, considering the damage limitation I was doing from last weekend, I would've been happy with a STS so am over the moon with that.

I've got plans tomorrow which involve booze and staying away from home so I very much expect to gain some back this weekend, I just need to try to keep myself in check as much as I can and be extra good Monday-Friday.

I hope everyone has a good weekend xx
  • It is a fasting day for me too, Tighteningthebelt, not sure what or when I am eating as I go shopping with my son and DiL at teatime (when he finishes work), I may pick up one of those Bol meals and eat it when I get back as eating before I shop would be too early, really.

Well done, Izadora, you have turned it around very quickly, that is fabulous!

I too am eating out tomorrow night, which will be a challenge. I stay off the booze though, so that is something.

I am rather cross about the heavy rain as today I actually have time today to go for a walk or ride my bike, but instead I am stuck indoors (it doesn't help that I left my coat in my BiL's van the other day and won't get it back until this evening). Oh well, I have sorted out my summer clothes (which hopefully won't fit next year) into vacuum storage bags as well as some smaller clothes that won't fit until I have lost several more dozen pounds. It will be fun to "shop" from my own store in the future.

    Afternoon All
Well I did enjoy my Chinese yesterday, but I abstained from the sweet and sour chicken and the prawn crackers, (surprised myself, who knew that I had some will power deep down!)
Today I have been tidying my room and switching the kids bedding over from the summer duvets to the winter ones so lots of washing and ironing.
Dh has brought down my winter clothes from the loft, bit more room in most of them compared to last year, like FrugalLina I have packed my summer clothes away and am hoping it will be too big next year.
Just about to have some lunch and them back to tidying and prepping for dinner.
    B banana
L wml pitta with tuna salad
D cauliflower cheese and fish with french bread, I'll be having chicken and mixed veg( no cheese sauce or french bread)

Well done on the loss Izardora

Well done!! I didn't know it was possible to be in the same house as prawn crackers and not eat them :D

Not drinking does seem to be a massive help when it comes to dieting, it's not only the fact that it's high in calories but I find that I have no willpower whatsoever after a couple of drinks. I realise how pathetic it is, and how much it makes me sound like I have a problem with alcohol, but I find it so much easier to be around drunk people if I'm drunk too :D

I was meant to swap my winter and summer clothes over last weekend but was having an attack of hungover laziness so still need to do it. I don't know that there'll be all that much from last year which will fit but I'm hoping that I'll get back into things soon.

There is something very satisfying about getting back into clothes you love and haven't been able to wear for ages.
  • Greetings All :)

Like you, Izadora and FrugalLina, I find it’s easier to stick to sensible eating if I avoid alcohol. The booze seems to sort of “prime” my system to want the wrong sort of food, and the effect seems to last for a couple of days, too :(.

Well done, Sirens, tighteningthebelt and Brambling on avoiding temptation. :T

Good going, Izadora on losing that weight!

Like several of you, I’m hoping to wave goodbye to some large clothes. I’ve got a suitcase full of the clothes I’m now thankfully too small for, and a drawerful of clothes I’m still too big for. My jeans are wearing out, and I don’t want to have to buy any more at my current size. It’s a race ...

    Today:
    B: porridge
L: mushroom omelette with broccoli & green beans, yogurt and the last of the blackberry & apple
D: veg soup, butter bean stew, yogurt & an apple
No snacks, am just about to have my first coffee of the day.

Well done Izadora :T a loss is a loss :)

FrugalLina I'm annoyed about the rain as well, I had a half day off today and it was too wet to enjoy

I also have a wardrobe (and under the bed) full of clothes of various sizes I'm somewhere in the middle of them at the moment. As the sizes get smaller they get more colourful, the grey, black and navy replaced by brighter colours :)

I worked from home this morning and had a doctors appointment and blood test this afternoon so no temptation of the work biscuits and I've managed to avoid my own stash hidden under the stairs  i glanced into M&S when I was getting wet in town and picked up some YS nectarines, pineapple and kiwi berries and avoided the bread and cake aisles :)

    B - banana
L - scrambled eggs on one small slice of wheaten toast
D - very similar to yesterday using LO rice, vegetables and katsu curry sauce - tonight I bread crumbed a chicken thigh fillet and air fried it so very little cooking :)
    S - apple, kiwi berries

I just used oat bran mixed with yogurt and a pinch of baking powder to make the pastry, and for the filling just the usual sultanas cranberries almonds currents peel, with Stevia, soaked in lemon juice with cardamom for a while first.

The middle comes out very runny without suet, but seen as the pastry is harder than an actual brick it is probably an advantage. :rotfl:

    food today.

    beef and piccalilli wholemeal roll.

    mince pie.

Another mince pie waiting for dinner.

when the dinner was ready I was too full to eat it so put it in the freezer.

    Another mince pie. :o
  • Hi everyone! Well, it's the weekend again. I've gathered a pile of stuff to sort out today. It's currently in a disorderly heap on the dining table irritating me.
    Today I'm having
    B
    L - 2 eggs in purgatory
T - shepherds pie, savoy cabbage, carrots. Scone and jam.

    Good luck everyone.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks
  • Funny how we are all sorting out our summer/winter clothes and looking forward to fitting into smaller ones in the future - we are going to be butterflies coming out of our cocoons in Spring!

Hooray, the weather is better today and I got my walk in at last, I went to the wool shop and got some gorgeous stuff to crochet with, a hat and scarf, hopefully! It is King Cole Curiosity and changes colour in the ball.

  • Good afternoon everyone :)

I hope your sorting out went well, tighteningthebelt .

The colour-changing yarn sounds lovely, FrugalLina .

Hoping your blood test result is what you want Brambling.

Honeythewitch that recipe sounds interesting even though it’s a “solid” result.

Today has been one of “those” days. To start with, the weather, dark and rainy. Junior Doggy decided he didn’t want to come indoors from his first-thing (5.30) visit to the garden and had to be fetched. Then the blind at the kitchen window wouldn’t pull up so I had to climb onto the worktop to sort it out. And while all the plants were off the windowsill the window had an unplanned clean. Washing machine has been going all day, next items are the dogs’ bedding, followed by their muddy towels.

But something nice: I popped into the hardware shop to buy a little pot of chrysanthemums. (It’s a very general hardware shop!) When I told the assistant it didn’t need wrapping because it was only going up to the cemetery, she gave me a potted pansy as well, which was nice but (?!?). Anyway I put the chrysanths on my parents’ grave as planned, and the pansy on the grave of a kind lady who was one of Mum’s friends.

    Today’s menu:
    B: bacon & eggs
    L: sardine salad, two tangerines
D: spinach soup, lentils in tomato sauce with green beans and celeriac, yogurt and an apple
