. Can I please cheat slightly and change my weigh in day to a Friday?
it seems that there are a few of us here who are minus their gallbladders. I sometimes wish they could put mine back in as it made dieting so much easier - I found I was much more able to resist crisps and chocolate when eating them came with a very high likelihood of excruciating pain
Izadora You can weigh in any day you wantand well done on a lost I fear that I wouldn't be leading by example this week
I agree re the gall stone, I was almost fat free before they removed mine, I couldn't eat chocolate, crisp, butter, cream, pastry etc etc I'm one of the lucky one that other than a post op infection I've had no issues since it was removed 7 years ago unfortunately it meant I started eating all those things again
FrugalLina that's a great lost :T:T. Milly Well done you :T:T
Tighteningthebelt sometimes it's the little things that mean more than a number on a scale, needing new holes in a belt or fitting back into something :T
Blue Doggy I hope the trip to the vet went ok
I will admit to being a little grumpy todayI must of hit the snooze button in my sleep so ended up getting out of bed 25 minutes late, so I was rushed and then hit the traffic I usually leave early to avoid, I wasn't late for work but I hate rushing in the morning. Then everything seem to niggle me today, most of it justified but I wasn't [STRIKE]prepared to suffer fools[/STRIKE] so agreeable as usual
B - fruit and yogurt (back to porridge once this yogurt has finished)
L - chicken laksa with noodles
D - LO salmon, veg and rice from Saturday
S - too much c*ap  there were baklava and biscuits left at workLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Needtobethrifty - hope you feel better soon x
Im ok plodding on!
Thankyou again for all your kind wishes you are very supportive xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good morning, folks!
I hope everyone is feeling as well as possible.
All the best, Molly41.
Thank you, FrugalLina and Brambling, for your kind words. The vet visit went better than I’d feared, and he has started some new treatment for joint pain, but there’s no cure for his old age.
Luckily there were only 5 biccies left after yesterday’s meeting; unluckily, although most of the people are long-standing friends I find social events very stressful, so the bix disappeared during the evening. On the positive side, I didn’t eat any chocolate yesterday.
Today I’m going out for coffee with another friend, so I've no idea what temptations I’ll be facing in the way of cakes. It’s just a very good thing that weighing day is Sunday
Meal plan for today:
B: porridge with raspberries
L: ham salad followed by peartomato salad with olives and capers, steak & kidney casserole (Sunday’s cooking made four portions) with carrots and green beans followed by yogurt with blackberries and apple
May be tweaked depending what happens when I’m out with my friend (not too good at avoiding temptation). Good thing there are no biscuits left in the house.

Izadora You can weigh in any day you want
Thank you. I always thought I was better off starting on a Monday but it seems that a lot of people have the same problem with weekends so I'll switch to Fridays and see how I get on with that.Blue_Doggy wrote: »The vet visit went better than I’d feared, and he has started some new treatment for joint pain, but there’s no cure for his old age
I'm glad that it wasn't as bad as feared but I know how much of a worry it is when pets get older.
Even though we can't have pets, we rent and our landlord doesn't allow them, we seem to have been adopted by a local cat. He's been around for the year that we've lived there but doesn't seem to have an owner and has now decided that he lives with us - probably because he'd been out in the rain for a couple of days so we took pity on him and made him a little cubby hole in the garden - so we may have to see about taking him to the vet for a check up.
Seeing as he's not our cat and we have no idea of his history I'm guessing we won't be able to get pet insurance though, and I really don't fancy a bill that runs into £100s (£1000s?) :eek:0 -
Izadora the vet would be able to check it for a microchip so you can see if he is a stray or a wanderer with owners that work full time cats know if you're a soft touch, there may be someone out there who has lost it. Most vet won't charge for that (but check). Some vets won't treat an animal if you tell them it isn't yours depending on what is wrong for example they will deal with an emergency but not a sedation to trim matts in a long hair cat for example. However if it is a stray and needs expensive treatment cat protection or RSPCA may be an option. If you have a clean bill of health from the vet and it's not an older cat it's worth speaking to an insurance company to see what they quote if you decide to keep.
Blue Doggy have you tried Yumove it was recommendation for my cat who although not old he's 6 he has a stiff leg, the vet and a couple of other people I know recommended it as we don't want to go down the road of medication at his age. The vet doesn't sell it so they weren't after the moneyAlthough after 2 weeks on it I was left a dead squirrel on my doorstep  so it's working

We've asked a couple of people along our street and nobody seems to know who he belongs to but, when IzHe's back from working away, we'll borrow a carrier from my parents and take him to a vet for scanning. However if it is a stray and needs expensive treatment cat protection or RSPCA may be an option.
I can't believe how dim I am, I'd thought of Cat's protection but hadn't even considered RSPCA. Thank you.If you have a clean bill of health from the vet and it's not an older cat it's worth speaking to an insurance company to see what they quote if you decide to keep.
We can't really keep him as such, due to our tenancy agreement, but we'll definitely try to get him home if he does belong to someone or make him warm, dry and comfortable in our garden if he doesn't.0 -

I’ve heard good things about Yumove, I’m very glad it’s been so helpful for your cat (was the squirrel a contribution to the cooking pot? There must be a thread for “recipes for squirrel”.) I think it’s upsetting whatever age they are, we hate to see them in pain. The vet agreed it’s good but recommended Dasuquin as better so that’s what I’ve been giving him. It has more glucosamine and chondroitin than Yumove; I don’t buy it from the vet, but online for a good price.
Izadora how kind you are to care for the cat even though it’s not yours :T. I’m sure it will appreciate a cosy place during the winter.
Back on the eating front, we had brunch instead of cake, mine was granola with fruit and yogurt and agave nectar. Very yum! Lunch was therefore cancelled and I’ve just had a pear.
Back(ish) on track for dinner...:)“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Hello all,
A busy week here again but I'm happy to record a loss of 2 lbs this week. I've tried to stick to decent meals so that I don't feel the need to pick between meals. Being busy has helped as I haven't had much time to look for snacks and I also have a cross stitch project that needs finishing in the next week or so. It's on white fabric so I can't snack at the same time as sewing.
Take care all of you0 -
Thank you Brambling, I couldn't have done it without the support on here.
Glad to hear you are doing OK Molly41.
BlueDoggy, I hope the meds ease his joints so he can enjoy a bit more mobility while he can. I think the biccies would have gone in my tummy after the meeting, too. I find that sort of thing stressful and I am a comfort eater by nature, so I don't blame you. At least they are gone now and you are clearly very back on track. :j
Izadora, I wonder if the cat belonged to previous tenants at your place, you are so kind to look after him/her and I think a trip to the vet would be a good idea. When I took on a rescue cat, she needed medical attention immediately, so I took her to our local vets and they kept the costs low, which was so kind of them. She is an old cat and I am trying my best to make her last years as happy and comfortable as I can.
Well done Cranky40, that is great and I like your cross stitch tactics. I am trying to do some crochet to keep my fingers busy too, although I am not sure I am liking my efforts so far!31.5/1000 -
Hi everyone
cranky40 fabulous loss, well done you!!
Hope it turns out well for all the pets.
I've been on a fasting day today and ate at 6pm
Crustless quiche with 2 small potato cakes (LO mustard mash) and lots of courgette and spring greens. Followed by kiwi and grapes with FF fruit yogurt.
(There is more curry, but I really did need a change!)
I've lent my scales to someone who needs to weigh their luggage. I'm getting a bit twitchy without them. Still as long as I get them back for Sunday weigh in it'll be ok. I supposeA bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0
