What sad news Dawn
Hope all the poorlies are fighting fit soon. It's that time of year again...
Observation went very well, thanks everyone for the well wishes. Thursday is my busiest work day though so it's been non stop there again. The good news is that I can stop fretting short term about work - Ofsted done, open evening done, observation done. I'm hoping that means I can relax a little and rest over the weekend. Even with ds birthday.
Another nsd in the bag and still using up stuff from the freezer. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

CCl I'm glad observation went well. My DB and Dsis are teachers and always say once they start back in Sept they always feel like they've been hit by a bus and find it hard getting back into a routine. It's good so much out of the way and hopefully u can relax and rest up
1LL hope u r feeling better. The tooth sounds like a nightmare. Hope u can get it extracted soon.
DawnW very sad about DDs old nursey school teacher. Too young
Yesterday was a stressful day with DD stuff everywhere as she prepared to go back to uni. We had in the past few days got a lot of stuff sorted but the house looks better for less stuff!
I'm still taking it easy being monitored by the district nurse. Trying to get back into some sort of routine but still have post op fatigue. It's getting less by the week but harder than i thought.
Dropped some items off to the CS today
Posted a parcel using RM stamps- a birthday present late by a couple of weeks.
Also managed to get another parcel posted that had been sitting on the side for the past couple of months so worktops are looking clearer
Banking checked-everything good
My mum gave me the leftovers to a big chicken she had bought. Why a big chicken I don't know but put to good use.
NSD today which I'm happy about as they've been rare while DD has been home
Managed to get a line of washing dry just before the heavens opened
Have been wrapping some Christmas presents and tucking them away-despite best efforts to be prepared Dec always seems to be a rush with a lot going on.
Going away tomorrow night. Not an ideal time tbh but just petrol spends

Well done, Ziggy - A great achievement......you need to come over to my house & give me a talking to!
And morning everyone else, too, of course. Today's list going well so far:
*Big Budget Day - Almost finished number crunching.
*Finished next week's meal plans.
* Write grocery shopping list - in hand
*Write a list of the things I need to buy or look at on our city centre trip tomorrow, especially for coming birthdays.
*Sorted all relevant vouchers into my purse for the above too.
*Read meters & submitted to energy provider's website. I don't like being so little in credit on our energy account at this time of year. I knew they reduced our monthly payment too much. When they do that, really, it's just a matter of time before it is put back up again.
*Updated budget outgoings spreadsheet with a couple of new amounts.
*Financial filing.
*Queried a peculiar small transaction on Mr f's CC bill - some unrecognisable jargon & the word 'Aberystwyth'..........sorted now, thankfully. We didn't have a receipt for it, so it would have involved a phone call to CC provider had Mr f not been struck by a flash of memory. It was the location bit that threw us, as one thing we did know was that we hadn't been anywhere near Wales!
*Continue to knit the two Christmas presents currently on my needles.
*Shawl & cardi out today......the first day I've really felt chilly this month. No heating going on yet though.
*Freeze the l/o dhal I cooked last night, as well as several garlic flatbreads.
No spending today, as again, I don't have the car, it's pouring with rain & not really a day for venturing out on my bike, unless I absolutely have to. I was only thinking of cycling up to the village butcher to see if he'd got any stewing lamb, so it can wait until tomorrow or Sunday.
Hope poorly people are starting to turn a corner.

A bit hectic here in Trailing Towers this last week. But a day off today and the weather is rubbish, so I'm having a catching up day.
So far
- shopped (Aldi, £21.92 for the week. This included a bottle of wine).
- bought Mum a present for her birthday (stuck to my £10 per person per event rule). It was exactly £10, and she'll love it (large box of Thornton's chocolates). Also got a really nice card from Card Factory for 99p.
- updated my spreadsheet with the figures from today's food shop. Current average is £18.52 a week.
- did some work for the business I run with my ex.
- cleared out my handbag (yes, it's been that sort of day!!)
- did some work for the course they're putting me through at work
While I updated the spreadsheet, I decided to try to see where I might have over-spent, so I looked in detail at every week where I've spent more than £20.
Since the end of February, when I started doing this, I've had
- 4 takeaways,
- two coffees out,
- 1 glass of wine out,
- I've had to buy lunch at work on 4 occasions because I'd not taken sandwiches with me
- 2 bottles of wine.
- I treated myself to churros in chocolate sauce at the Saltaire Festival last week (it was the only thing I bought) - £5!!!! I would have been perfectly happy to have bought half the quantity and only pay £2.50, to be honest. It was just too much and I ended up leaving quite a few. That's a mistake I don't have to make again!!
That's a total of £81 on things that, strictly speaking, I didn't need to buy. That's the equivalent of a months' shopping, give or take!! Over a period of about 7 months. That's shocking!!!
The takeaways are planned for, but having to buy lunches because I've forgotten to make sandwiches is just plain daft. I don't need the wine, and the churros were a moment of weakness. I'm not going to begrudge myself a couple of coffees out - it certainly isn't something that happens every day. But it's amazing how it mounts up!! Must try harder...No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Ziggy - you are amazing. Well done so far, and good luck for the next goal.
I've made it to the weekend! :j Just waiting for dd to get home and then I can properly put my feet up and relax a bit.
Bagged another nsd and I'm actually still enjoying (?!?) eating the food from the freezer. May as well go with it whilst the motivation is there...Not giving up
