    Morning Money Savers,
    No plans as such for today. It's pouring with rain again here, so I can see it's not going to be a gardening day.
    *Sort huge clean laundry pile & expend electricity only on what really needs ironing.
    *Stretch one smoked haddock fillet to two good portions of kedgeree.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
    *Start off making some sauerkraut.
    *Knit Christmas presents
    Then I have some non money saving tasks like writing a postcard & two letters plus getting at least a couple more tasks from the 'Annoying Jobs' list done.
    Have a good day all,
    F x

    2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg

  • Limited money saving here as working a longish day but I’m trying:

    Checked banking
    Check payment to cc has arrived
    Packed lunches all round
    Hot drink for commute
    Claim free drink that expires today
    Going to see pal later. Always good for a catch up and free tea ;)
    Leftovers for tea
    Update present list with some gifts I bought yesterday at the wholesalers

    Have a good day all. Purps.
  • Bit dull here but lots of things to do today.

    Banking checked
    Tablet and phone charging
    Plants checked. Still to ask neighbour to water them whilst we're away
    Himself on the phone at the moment to make an appointment for when we get back
    Take medication
    Quick tidy
    Defrost and tidy freezers
    Tidy fridge
    Freeze anything that needs frozen
    Packing
    Tell neighbours that we're away so they can keep an eye on things
    Make sure I have some addresses and other details in my notebook.

    That's quite a lot! Better get started.
    Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

    Mornng all :)
    Ouch HK, hope you soon recover from your fall injuries, take care xx
    ((Hugs)) CCL, you are one of the strongest people I have come across xx
    Toni's friend, enjoy your holiday :)
    Didn't get to post yesterday as we were out all day, but visiting family so no cost involved other than the fuel to get there. Pity we stopped off for a portion of chips on the way back :o Not a vast expense, but bad for our waistlines, and it isn't as if we don't have food here at home!
    Anyway, today:
    Breakfast included HG fruit (raspberries and a pear)

    Still getting to grips with my computer which has been mended but has a newer version of Windows installed and as a consequence all my programs, settings, bookmarks, logins etc have disappeared :cool: Anyway, it works great, and is much quicker, like a new machine despite being 4 or 5 years old :)
    Need to check banks (will be a faff, see above)
    Post an ebay parcel (already packed)

    Sort out some stuff for sales unit
    Pick garden veg if it stops raining for long enough!
    All food from home, only spends will be postage (business cost and in any case the buyer pays) and a small bag of bulb fibre if the pound-ish shop has some.
    Can't think of much else atm, but will be back later to update :)

    Morning all.

    CCL - I had been wondering where you were. You're so strong but be easy on yourself as all those things sound tough on their own, let alone all at once.

    Today I have/will:
    * Check banks
    * Do washing up
    * Transfer end of "old" milk into new one which OH has opened!
    * Load of washing on 30 degree eco wash
    * Take something out of freezer for dinner tonight
    * Check OP and PA
    * Cashout of OP!
    * Eat cake which my colleague made me as my birthday tomorrow!
    * Think of ideas for what to do with pears from our tree
    * Go to gym at lunch for free class
    * Read MSE newsletter
    * Pop to post office to collect missed parcel on way home from work
    * Hang washing on airer
    * Do some more crochet so I can take to my mums with me tomorrow for a lesson on sewing the bits together!
    * Dinner from stores
    * Follow OH around the house turning lights off!

    Think that's everything for today! Hope you all have a good day!

    Hi look it's Wednesday afternoon past half way and now I need to get busy working out how not to spend the extra money I make ... I am struggling to want to make a meal plan this week.
    I need other ingredients than what they have at alde.
    XX
    still to hang laundry
    walk dog w friend
    go for club run
    do prep for tomorrow
    Vacuum ... this point have slid down the list for over a week now. But then I'm not really using my living room at the moment so ...
    - Buy swimming fins and buoy on ebay
    Send boys suit I just sold
    Keep the engine running.

  • Good afternoon all.

    CCL, chin up, you can do this. xx

    Worked 7am to 12 noon today - breakfast beforehand, and lunch when I got home. I made myself some scrambled eggs on toast, as a change from the sandwiches that I take when my working day covers a mealtime.
    In my afternoon 'off' I've
    - hoovered and mopped as appropriate
    - cleaned out the cat litter tray
    - had an argument with edf energy about my smart meter
    - done some proofreading (a long and very boring technical document related to the business I run with my ex, and some that I do as a volunteer, so sadly not a money-making exercise!!)
    - done some homework for the course they've put me on at work (it's a free course, leads to a recognised qualification, and I get 2 - 3 hours a week during work time to do it, so a bit of extra homework to make sure I'm up to muster is perfectly reasonable, I think)

    The edf saga is getting silly now - it's been going on since March. Basically my 2nd generation smart meter stopped working after I switched energy suppliers. This isn't supposed to happen. But they can't just give me another smart meter, because I've already got one... And yes, we've been going round that particular loop for 6 months now.

    It's been escalated a couple of levels, I'll be looking for some compensation (more than the £40 they've offered me) - but at the end of the day, I just want a smart meter. Ironically, I'm still getting texts and emails from them, outlining all the benefits of a smart meter and asking me if I'd like to sign up to one.

    I'm always polite - you don't get anywhere by being a d!€k to the people on the other end of the phone - but my patience is wearing thin.
    No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...

    Agree - it's never that individual's fault. So if I'm particularly peeved off and feel I might be abrupt or short with the person, I start the call by saying that and apologizing in advance! And am then possibly abrupt in setting out my complaint/ frustration but when actually discussing with that person it's fine!

  • Hello all :wave:
    Thanks for all the well wishes - very much appreciated. You all know me well enough now though to know I'm always ok in the end. I just need a rest. Actually hoping for a bit of an earlier finish tonight. I have one more thing to do on the laptop then it's going off and I'm relaxing.
    I have a lesson observation tomorrow (with the Head and Deputy Head) so have to finish preparing for that.
    Other than that, operation use-up-what-we-have continues. Food from stores and crafts from stash. Hoping to get a bit of crochet done tonight. You never know.
