It won't be a ban.
But it'll definitely be more than an FPN would have been. There'll be costs and victim surcharge on top of the fine, if nothing else. The OP's income will be used to determine the size of the fine.0 -

Looks like 150% income plus the add ons like you mention .
Band B (100% starting point, 75-125% range) is the guideline, but if he pleads very hard he might get away with a Band A (50%, 25-75%) - for a 20mph, that'd normally be <30mph, though. Or he might just hack the magistrate off with his entitlement and inability to accept reality...0 -
You may be lucky and be offered a Fixed Penalty (£100 and three points) for the offence. Most forces follow the Nation Police Chiefs' Council's guidance and take court action at 35mph and above. Others (most notably the Metropolitan Police) take court action at 36mph. If it goes to court the likely penalty will be a week's net income (reduced by a third for a guilty plea), a surcharge of 10% of the fine (minimum £32) and £85 costs. Although a ban (7-28 days) is a possibility under the guidelines the more likely outcome is five points. The speed range 31-40mph is covered by a points range of 4-6. Your speed is in the middle of the range so you can expect mid-range points. If the matter goes to court you will receive a "Single Justice Procedure Notice". They have six months from the date of the offence to begin proceedings and in many areas take all of this.
You need to get used to 20mph zones. My local High Street is one such zone and it is about three quarters of a mile long. Nine London boroughs have extensive 20mph zones: the entire London Boroughs of Hackney and Lewisham are 20mph zones (barring a handful of main routes administered by Transport for London and even some parts of those are covered). Hackney introduced theirs in 2015 and Lewisham in 2016.0 -
