I wonder if Tyrone will let us know how his day in court goes?
(Or if he's lucky enough to squeek into an FPN)0 -

Wow.
@tyroneshoelaces - give it up. There are no excuses and I doubt you'll get sympathy from anyone, so I'd stop trying to fight your case. The signs are very, very clear, legal and easy to see. And as a driver, it's your job to ensure you adhere to the limit or risk being caught and facing the consequences.
And when driving past shops, schools and leisure centres, you should be paying extra attention, so it weakens your argument further.
Pay the fine and learn the lesson - be more observant.
And for doing 35 in a 20, I hope the fine is hefty.0 -
Why does 35 in a 20 get you these days?
Hopefully enough that OP might pay a bit more attention in future.
I'm not defending the OP, however much of south Birmingham is now 20mph, the google maps shown leaves much to consider, here in Birmingham though, the A435 and A41 you can see why folk may get caught out.0 -
The OP clearly missed the 20 signs, but he didn't miss the many hazards and the traffic-calming measures. He could usefully read (re-read?) the section of the Highway Code on driving in residential areas, e.g.:I'm not defending the OP, however much of south Birmingham is now 20mph, the google maps shown leaves much to consider, here in Birmingham though, the A435 and A41 you can see why folk may get caught out.
"You should drive slowly and carefully on streets where there are likely to be pedestrians, cyclists and parked cars. In some areas a 20 mph (32 km/h) maximum speed limit may be in force", and
"On some roads there are features such as road humps, chicanes and narrowings which are intended to slow you down. When you approach these features reduce your speed. Maintain a reduced speed along the whole of the stretch of road within the calming measures."0 -

That is true, and he didn't ask how he may 'get away' with it, just what may he expect, depending on how they view the stats, almost twice the legal limit
15mph over
Or they may apply a little leniency and offer standard fine and penalty points.0 -
surely the arguing over 20mph signs is moot anyhow, given that the OP "thought" it was 30mph but was speeding nevertheless?0

Magistrates generally follow the guidelines, and the OP has told us nothing to suggest they should depart from them. On the contrary, if he were to appear in court his attitude might have the opposite effect.Or they may apply a little leniency and offer standard fine and penalty points.0
