I certainly don't need driving lessons or your suggestions. If there was a technicality then I wouldn't have sent the form back already. I was merely asking the question about the regulations around signage.
OK, to answer that quaestion. In a 20 mph ZONE, there must be signs at the entrance to the zone but no others are required, provided there are traffic-calming measures (bumps, chicanes, etc) at least every 100 metres.

It seems very clear to me, and i'd imagine most drivers, that it's a restricted speed area. You really are showing yourself up by continuing to argue this point.

Who am I showing myself up to? People I don't know online?

Seriously, I don't worry about what people think, especially people who I will never meet.

This is just a forum. It is a place to have a voice which some people take way too seriously. I very rarely use forums any more but it seems that nothing has changed really.

Not quite, it amazed me how they enforce a 20mph zone outside a huge school, a park and a leisure centre yet only use four signs to do so, both of which are at either end of the zone. I find that amazing. Given that the aim is to make it safe, they should be making it as clear as possible as much as possible.
You're ignoring all the traffic calming, a legal requirement to make a 20 zone "self-enforcing",

Perhaps you simply haven't noticed that, either?

Let's just look at those markings again, shall we?

OMG. Somebody's parked across half of the 2, leaving the other three quarters of the numbers and the vast majority of the roundel perfectly visible, along with the two roadside signs.

You're seriously claiming that every single time out of the roughly four thousand or more times you've driven along that stretch, those markings were completely and utterly invisible, with absolutely no reason for you to wonder what or why they might have been there?

The other one has bells on.

Oh, and you still drive past a camera van at 35 in what you thought was a 30 with an average of 70m between traffic calming measures... On a road with a college and a known-to-you history of pedestrian fatalities. So what speed would you have been doing without the camera van there? Or did you not see that, either?

When you're this deep in a hole, the appropriate response is not to reach for a larger digger.

What hole am I in exactly? All I have done is ask some strangers for info on speed signage and it turns into this! Amazing!:rotfl:

    Indeed.

It seems that any answer that you don't like will simply be thrown away as being irrelevant, rather than making you realise that you may have been in the wrong. And, no, that probably won't change...

It is not a case of realising I "may be in the wrong", I am in the wrong. I put that in my first message, which is why I am throwing away irrelevant answers. I don't particularly care for or need your finger wagging or telling me I am a bad driver etc etc.

    Wow.

    Let's try one last time...

You think you're in the wrong for being caught out driving at a speed that would have been perfectly acceptable, except for the minor detail that you had no reasonable way of knowing it was a 20 limit, because they're out to trick you.

I'm suggesting you're in the wrong for failing to accept that all the information you needed was there, but you've simply failed to do the most basic observation for half of your driving life.
  • Don’t you think the OP is joshing ?
Don’t know why ? Bored , research, feels like an argument but no one around?
A road could hardly be screaming slow down, danger more than that one .

On the plus side if he isn’t now his unobservant wife and neighbour also know to slow down.

Why does 35 in a 20 get you these days?

Hopefully enough that OP might pay a bit more attention in future.

WAAAAY above the tea and biccies that would be of most use to the OP, and it's right on the cusp of being too high for a FPN.
