Minimum bedroom size - social housing

If you aren't claiming benefits what does it matter... if you feel the rent needs adjusting just ask the HA to come out and have a look.

Thanks Norman - I will of course talk to HA but wanted to do some research before doing so. Perhaps find people who were successful in challenging this issue.

You would probably find it is classed as a boxroom. A boxroom can be slept in.
So can be a tent on the pavement. Can be slept in. Does not classify as a bedroom though.0 -
Unfortunately OP, as you have found out, anyone who talks about social housing here gets treated badly. Perhaps others will learn from your post that social housing tenants are not welcome here. It has always been thus.
I'm in social housing and have never had a problem on this site so stop talking nonsense. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -

I'm curious...if this "bedroom" is so bad (size/ventilation) why is it being used?
Surely whoever is sleeping in it (adult child?) would prefer a sofabed in the lounge.
Actually, I bet alot of parents would give up their own room for that of their child and sleep in the lounge themselves. Some have no choice!!
How long have you been at this property? Have you outgrown it? Did it originally meet your requirements, was it ok for smaller child? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

OP feels none of those questions (or similar) are relevant so has declined to answer them. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I don't know how social housing works, but surely there is some element of choice in the first place, unless it's emergency housing? Isn't there a bidding system etc.?
So unless I'm missing something...OP would have seen the layout of the property, known the rent and agreed it, no? Maybe OP didn't view the property?
Ooh I love a good speculation in the absence of any information!! - even if I maybe talking to myself!!;)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -

Question is about a room under 6 metres squared being classed as a bedroom. That is all.
Unless I'm getting my maths in a muddle, isn't there a big difference between 6 metres squared and 6 square metres??!!;);)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
