Not irrelevant the owner / HA has decided its a 2 bed. The tenant objects to this. They have an option to move on. Flat/house does not come under HMO.0 -

But you seem to already know the classification?0 -
Here is some info on the minimum sizes (so it may be classed as a boxroom)
Maybe the tenancy wording should be changed to ( 1 bed and a boxroom, that way the HA will not get hassle from peeps)

The only real reference to this that I have found relates to "bedroom tax", people who are receiving benefits have rooms of such size discounted as a bedroom for the benefits purpose. As I do not claim benefits - I am looking for another way to challenge the classification.

So people on benefits have small rooms disregarded as bedrooms but if you are not on benefits, broom cupboard can be classed as a bedroom?
And so much hostility when one asks a simple question.0 -

Literally no abuse, hardly any replies at all, just a few helpful ones from knowledgeable posters.
The presumption was I'm entitled although if I was willing to do the work and cover the costs the landlord wouldn't allow me to hence the need to get the landlord involved and the subsequent difficulties.0 -

I am aware of this - this only applies to people on benefits though0 -
Another link but again referring to benefits (which I do not claim) :
https://nearlylegal.co.uk/2013/02/room-without-review-thoughts-on-tackling-the-bedroom-tax/One option might be whether the bedroom is actually a bedroom. As noted above, the statute and regulations have left the definition of a bedroom up to social landlords. I don’t know of any social landlord conducting a review of its properties.
Well, I may be the first to challenge that then....0 -

maybe....maybe not. think you will find if your property was put up for sale.
You would probably find it is classed as a boxroom. A boxroom can be slept in.0 -

I'm sure there's a link on here about challenging council tax bands. Are people condemned if they do this?
Op, just ask the HA, you will get a definitive explanation rather than sanctimonious judgement.0 -
