PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. In this neck of the woods, it's easier to knock the building down and build new as it's easier to achieve the relevant standards.0 -
The inherent problem with forum discussions such as these is...
Only the OP knows what outcome they want.
They want to know if a room or flat is correctly classified. This will be based on dimensions, the motivation is irrelevant.
If they don't get it, they probably won't tell us.
That would depend on the reaction they've had. Many of the replies on here have hoped they don't so personally I wouldn't feed their glee.
If they do get it, they might tell us, but we might not believe them.
Or not want to believe them as it spoils the fun.
All comments (on most threads) rely on an element of gut reaction or trust because basically at the end of the day, anyone can say anything.0 -

Agreed but when something sounds implausible it usually is.It's nothing , not nothink.0 -

Why is it so difficult to understand for some?
If a private landlord was renting this out as a bedroom everyone would be outraged.
And because it is social housing this should be allowed?
It is NOT a 2 bedroom flat so it should not be called/charged for as a 2 bedroom flat.
THIS is the issue - there is nothing else to it
Measurements, total space in the room does NOT qualify it as a bedroom. SimplesI would like to know if I can challenge council to change it to 1bed flat. Please advise-1 -

In your case why have you accepted a place smaller than your last one that doesn't make sense. Especially at tha price. As above council tax isn't based on bedrooms.Assessments are based on a number of factors, such as a property’s:
- size
- layout
- character
- location
- change in use
- value on 1 April 1991 (England) or 1 April 2003 (Wales)
See this link for how your council tax is calculated0
