Spoke to Utilita on the phone as couldn't register my account online.
They need to put in your date of birth so you can get set up.
She did blatantly lie when I asked what my tariff was, said it would be the one I'm on Eversmart until they wrote and told us different.
But it's Smart Energy
First 2 kWh each Day at 28.885p per kWh, thereafter at 17.699p. Standing Charge is £0.
Where as Eversmart was Unit Rate: 15.7395p/kWh
Standing Charge: 21.0000p/day. Think that's not including there £100 discount for having a smart meter.
When I called her on her lie she made excuses and denied she had lied.
Said its only because I logged on to my account I knew that information. Refused to allow me to speak to a manager to complain about there staff giving out false information to there customers.
Time to find a different energy suppler again0 -
I started a move from Eversmart to Symbio on 2nd September as my year with Eversmart was coming to an end.
Like others, I was worried that the switch would be cancelled with the demise of Eversmart.
Luckily mine has gone through and I started with Symbio on 18th. First DD payment has gone out and I have given my opening meter read to them.
I can logon to my account and all the details appear correct. So far so good.
I have received the letter from Utilita and I expect them to bill me for the 7 days that I was with them. However, I still owed Eversmart some £175 so not sure if Utilita or Eversmart's administrators are going to chase me for that.0 -
As a former customer of Eversmart who hasn't got the credit balance refunded before they went busted, does anyone happen to know how long I should wait before considering contacting Utilita about the credit balance refund?
I asked them yesterday and here was their response;
"...Unfortunately, we have not been given an expected time frame from the administrators regarding credit due back to customers. We will be in touch as soon as we have an update for you..."0 -
Judging by similar scenarios with other suppliers that went under, it can be up to 6 months or more.0

Just had an e-mail from Utilita that the Eversmart website will be closing down at 17.30 today ............. and it has gone , 3 minutes early.0

Never done this before so need advice please.
I was with Eversmart and account is in credit. Now that the Utilita has completed the taking over. So should I switch now to a new supplier as Utilita is so expensive? Or wait until they give me the credit back first?
Thanks0 -
Just be patient.
You've successfully got your last DD payment back, so that's good news. I decided to cancel mine, due on 12th Sept, as soon as I heard about Eversmart going under.
Once you account is transferred to Utilita, your credit/debit with Eversmart will be assessed and you'll be billed/refunded accordingly.
Utility tells me that my account should have transferred to them by 18th Sept. We just need to give them a bit of time to sort things out.
I'm an old hand at this. I've been with GB Energy, IRESA and Eversmart, all of whom went bust. My accounts, always in credit, were sorted out in reasonable time.0 -
May i ask how long did you wait before you look for new supplier when GB Energy, IRESA gone under?
I waited until I was told that my move to the new energy company had completed. By then I had searched and found a better deal and started a switch then - probably around a fortnight after the original company went bust.
I'm currently looking at other suppliers, as I think Utilita are expensive, so as soon as I hear from them that my account is set up, I'll start my move.
I'm thinking of going for the Tonik Go Green fixed deal. No exit fee and £183 cheaper than utilita. That figure includes £25 cashback via the 'cheap energy club' and a total of £40 discount for going for dual fuel.
Or maybe Breeze energy, even cheaper but with a £40 exit fee.0 -
I've just spoken to someone at Utilita, asking when I could start moving to a new supplier. They said as of 26th Sept - next Thursday.
So I'm planning to sign up to someone else on that day.0 -
Initiated my switch as soon as Utilita appeared as my supplier on my network operators website (Northern Powergrid) - that was Thursday 19th September.
Been notified that my switch has been initiated and transfer should complete on Friday 4th October (15 days since application). So that's the day after the 14 day cooling off period expires. We'll see.0
