We've never completely had uncontrolled immigration, so I don't know what it would be like.

But free movement for EU citizens (with some necessary caveats that we can use if we choose) that we currently enjoy has benefited everyone in this country.

I certainly don't want to have to pay millions of pounds a week to keep track of people coming and going and vetting them.

Ideally it would be great if there was free movement of people among all countries, but there are huge barriers to that. You'd need to wait until everyone was prepared to live under the same laws first.
So you don’t support uncontrolled immigration then.
Is this you admitting you may be a little bit racist / xenophobic?
Anyway, back to the topic. I wonder how much time Boris has left, that public money he gave to the woman he probably slept with can't be ignored forever. Do conservatives still support him?

Personally I would let him sleep with my grandmother if it kept the trots out of Downing Street.

trots being Trotskyists? It's a bit of a stretch to called Labour Trotskyist, but it does explain the mindset that lets Boris get away with anything.

I completely accept you can be in favor of controlled migration without admitting you're a racist or xenophobe. How would you know if you were being xenophobic? It would seem perfectly acceptable to you & of course you wouldn't want to think of yourself as being xenophobic as that is bad.

I guess you could explain why you want to control immigration and how you feel about the rest of the leave voters who are xenophobic and the obvious consequences for foreigners as well as ourselves, to the point where only xenophobic people will actually get a benefit from leaving the EU.

You are the biggest xenophobe on here, you don’t even pretend to conceal your inherent antipathy toward the British people. I’ll take no lessons in that regard from you I’m afraid. I think I’ve given my reasons for wanting the end of FoM from the EU a few times, I don’t see why I need to explain again, perhaps a forum search might be helpful to you.

Sorry I thought that’s what we did round here? Pick up on a small number of extreme views within a group and label that across a whole membership.

I.e not all labour voters are trots, but all trots vote labour.

That’s we way it works isn’t it?????

I am not convinced you're sincere with that question as I didn't say that I didn't support uncontrolled immigration. But I'll play along, I guess it depends on what you mean by "uncontrolled".

If you mean that you wouldn't be able to stop known terror suspects from entering the country when you have evidence that they are travelling to commit a crime then it doesn't matter where they were born, there probably needs to be some proportionate restriction on them.

If someone is on release from prison and has a tag and a curfew that prevents them living outside a certain area, then again that needs to be controlled. Although I do wonder whether it's right that someone who committed a crime in the past should never be able to move to another country. That door swings both ways and annoying people who have committed crimes in the past doesn't seem to be beneficial.

I also think the current EU law (that we chose not to enforce) that if someone turns up and is unable to ever find work then they shouldn't just be allowed to claim benefits from day 1 & can be asked to return home, is pretty proportionate. It would be different if benefits were universal across europe, but like most things we make our own laws on that (which must be a shock to farage).

I certainly think it's something to aim for in the long term though, if that scares you (and it scares a lot of leave voters) then it's the x word for you. I'm not scared about it & would support it if the situation was right.

I don't have antipathy towards you because you're British. I'm not sure you understand the concept of xenophobia.

I am not sure looking for why you have justified to yourself why you wanted to end it would help. I'm certainly not going to spend hours trawling through your posts just because you think you've given them.

Phil I am so loving the irony in your post above about how you think we could control immigration and the comparison to your previous statement -

It's not irony, I can hear the whooshing sound of my post going over your head.

My reasons for "controlling migration" don't have anything to do with the country the person originates from & are arguably nothing to do with controlling migration. My favoured outcome is that we have freedom of movement throughout the entire world. There are some hurdles to get over, but that is the direction we should be heading.

How was I to know? You didn't mention that in your offer.

I would hope that in light of new evidence that he would decline.

Anyone else got any thoughts on Boris paying an ex-model public money that they weren't qualified to receive?

As an aside; can you be xenophobic towards your own kind? It's literally a fear of strangers.

Yeah I guess that's fair enough, I guess most trots will vote Labour as I don't think we have any serious left wing party. Though I don't think any Remainers have been tarring all Leavers are being xenophobic, it just happens to be the most common theme regarding voting intention.
