Maybe, maybe not. The bill passed though both houses and went to the queen for royal assent, so that makes it law.

This amendment would require the Prime Minister to set out in the letter to the President of the
European Council seeking an extension under Article 50(3) TEU that the reason for seeking an
extension is to pass a Withdrawal Agreement Bill based on the outcome of the inter-party talks
which concluded in May 2019 — see NC1 for contents of the Bill
“Publication of Withdrawal Agreement Bill
(1) The Prime Minister must within the period of five days, not including any
Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday, beginning with the day on which this Act is
passed publish a copy of a draft Bill to implement the Withdrawal Agreement
between the United Kingdom and the European Union under Article 50(2) of the
Treaty on European Union.
(2) The draft Bill must include provisions reflecting the outcome of inter-party talks
as announced by the Prime Minister on 21 May 2019, and in particular—
(i) an opportunity for a decision to be made by the House of Commons
whether the implementation of the withdrawal agreement should be
subject to a referendum;0 -
Phil the Kinnock amendment has no legal force other than to give MPs a vote on it.
It was passed for a bit of game playing by the govt. if it had any serious consequences it wouldn’t have done so.0 -
The EU themselves might decide to call Parliaments bluff. The UK seems to care little for the other member states. There's important business to be getting on with.0

Can I respectfully remind users that this is the thread to vent against the beastliness of Tory type people, not the Brexit thread. It is also for Tory type people to remind us of their beastliness.0

I concider myself center/right, but under Cameron they had the nasty policies that stigmatised those on benefits, now the Tories have a leader that is liar.0 -

Well you've destroyed your own sides argument quite well there.
I agree there will be important business to be getting on with after the mess that the conservatives have created, we'll be on the back foot for the next 50 years because of it.SpiderLegs wrote: »Phil the Kinnock amendment has no legal force other than to give MPs a vote on it.
