...and your contribution to helping anyone on the forum since you joined three years ago is?
Reading this thread (again) in the cold light of day, it's easy to see exactly why the responses you received were not as "supportive" as you might have hoped.

You started off with an expletive in your thread title designed to make it appear that it is somehow automatically wrong to have insurance. It really isn't, unless you can show it was somehow mis-sold to you.
You then went on to detail how you complained that you didn't know you had the insurance, something which is contradicted by your thread title. PPI was not routinely added without the knowledge and permission of the customer and (on credit cards) would have appeared itemised on a separate line of every monthly statement when your account had a balance.
You then went on to infer that anyone complaining without documentary evidence is automatically lied to and told there are no records. This is not generally the case at all , although I concede there have certainly been some very high profile instances which resulted in heavy fines for the financial institutions concerned.
You asked if you were likely to be refunded. The answer is that no one here can say for sure, but we can certainly point out to you the weaknesses and contradictions of your complaint.
You asked if a complaint about a particular account would automatically generate investigations of your other accounts. The answer is that the Bank will only consider the specific concerns you raise.

My remarks about links to the CAG forum were not in response to you at all and you are, of course, at liberty to seek the help of contributors there if you wish.

Attacking the contributors here, however, will not make them more likely to offer you any support in future....

Hmmm. Yes .... I think I have got just about what I want from here..
Hard work though! Really hard work !

    Thanks all the same

Which was foxtrotoscar's point. You are a taker. Claiming you are helping other people doesn't wash. Slating people who have given so much help and advice over several years on PPI is being just plain ungrateful. Go enjoy another three years of not giving anything back...unless you need more advice which means you'll be back to 'give help' sooner..

Please can you tell me what the Consumer Action Group is?
This poster has now made multiple identical posts on the CAG forum and even duplicated a thread he made here on this site over there! I thought it was pertinent (and entertaining) to see how the "friendly" contributors over there gave almost the exact same non -committal answers as were given here. In fact, the CAG responder made a point of commenting that "PPI claims are over..pointless"

    CAG forum:

    https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/topic/418199-do-you-have-to-be-very-specific-when-requesting-a-sar/#comments

    Original MSE thread:

    Friendly? Helpful? :D

    EDIT:
Just to be clear, this post refers to user "topoftherock", not "Cumblechook"

The question you asked in your OP was:-

    'Your thoughts?'

…you've had them from several people with oodles of PPI knowledge, (one who complained and has been refunded 20k, who you slated BTW) you just don't like them. You seem to have been satisfied fairly quickly that you had your 'answers' so I'm not sure that it was that much hard work.

Where has morality been mentioned other than by you?

Took over 40 posts and reading back my answers where done in 3 of those posts.
    Thanks

If you actually read my post and the links I provided, I didn't quote you.

The post I quoted was another user entirely. :p

My post #41 already explained exactly why you experienced the problems you did.
All down to your own provocative posting errors I'm afraid..
I have not made a post on cag for at least 2 years
Why would that be, I wonder

Yes Moneys a rather clever poster and knows a lot about PPi.

I just wonder how quickly he can solve the daily conundrum on “Countdown”
  • I find your first words used offensive...please find other words ?

The intellectual genius is a wordsmith, so perhaps he can help out?
  • I must be living in your head or something. Quite “entertaining” actually. FYI, the vast majority of posters have helped me tremendously and I’m very grateful for the advice.
You've missed the main thrust of my post which was basically to show how the answers you were given here were similar in tone and content to those you received when you duplicated your thread on the CAG forum.

It was not a overt criticism of your action, nor was I following you personally on your PPI journey

I was highlighting this irony only because of the earlier CAG promotion by another poster... :)
