No banks lie about PPI policies? Is this a joke???
Actually ... I think I responded harshly here as I misread the comment.....
We live in a strange world Where banks are honest enough to own up to passed misdeeds without being dragged to the table.
It seems somewhat strange that my questions (simple as they are) seem to attract such high morality.0 -
A good response and you are right. It would be stupid for me to say that I am putting in a complaint because I haven’t used the PPI which I don’t remember getting, but then miraculously retrieved proof that I did get. No that would be indeed quite stupid.
I am smart enough to know that that’s not how this racket works.0 -

With respect, I would not spend my time writing the longest shittiest joke ever about PPI.
I just wanted answers to simple questions.
Well from personal experience I can tell you that you are absolutely wrong. They have repeatedly lied about PPI.
Here’s one for you that isn’t lying but I’d love your opinion on;
HSBC once wrote to me about loans from ten years previous that I remember I was persuaded to take out PPI on, to say that they can’t find any records further back than six years due to the data protection act (although when I tackled them on this by asking them where it states this in the act, they admitted they were wrong for stating this) but in the same letter said “You can take this letter as conformation that you have never had PPI”.
How can they state this without having the records?0 -

Not using it is not a valid complaint reason either...I haven't used my home insurance in all the years I've had it.
Having PPI is not a complaint reason.
Wrong. It would ‘fly’ if he didn’t find the evidence until years after.0 -

We are in agreement ..... definitely... I misread your original quote “....is this a joke?”
Of course the banks lie....0 -

I’ve had a reply from Vauxhall Finance which states “our data retention policy states we are only required to keep records for 6 years after the closure of any agreement. Due to the age of your agreement, this cannot be located within Vauxhall Finance’s internal record”. Morses Club stated “due to our internal data retention policy, we are unable to provide you with any information in relation to your DSAR request. As a result, the information we might have held for you has now been purged from our systems” and “our data retention policy prevents us from holding data exceeding six years, if the accounts have been settled over six years ago it is likely we no longer hold information relating to this. I don’t believe them at all, as I’ve had info going back 15-20 years with several other companies. Moreover, I notice how they say “LIKELY we no longer hold information relating to this”. This makes me think they are covering themselves just in case they get caught out. This makes me think they DO have the information. Can I take this further in any way?0
