Hi everyone...

I have been a lurker for a long time but only posted few.

I have questions .....
1. Am I likely to get a refund?
2. Will the bank look into all my accounts based on one claim?

Please see background below

I have submitted complaints through RESOLVER and direct to the banks directly when I read on the 28th that RESOLVER is unreliable.

I submitted ppi complaints to BANK OF SCOTLAND over a credit card, which I think went into arrears and in the end ended up with a debt management company which is still being paid off now. I could not find proof of the PPI payments because I could not find old statements showing them. Anyway I submitted the complaints all the same with statements showing that I did indeed have the credit card

Do I have grounds to get a rebate of the substantial fees paid? Because ......
I have now located the attached “review of a years cost of ppi with BOS” . We lost our business and a brother and we never claimed on this policy because in fairness we never knew we had it.

We have had 2 house moves since 2010 so things have been tossed around, but I was horrified to have found this document after I have put in a claim. I hope I don’t discover that the banks lie about whether you had ppi if you don’t have documentation, because we have quite a few claims without the benefit of proof like this one.

Your thoughts.?

Regards :)

  • If the evidence relates to an existing complaint, you can submit it.

The banks don't lie about you having PPI, but customers are an entirely different matter...!
  • How do I post an image of what I found ?

So you had a PPI policy, it's not illegal.
In what way were you mis-sold? You don't get your money back just because you've found some paperwork, but if you did, your in arrears, and any redress would go to paying the arrears off. PPi didn't cause you to lose your business. No banks lie about ppi policies, if they have no data, they have no data. You say you "put in a claim", I think you mean you complained, but didn't supply any information regarding your policy?

No banks lie about PPI policies? Is this a joke???
  • Thanks for the reply .....
I have the picture of the ppi review here. I can’t post the pic for some reason.
I don’t really know how we were missold the insurance, but it really hasn’t done anything for us but cost 900+ a year because we didn’t know we had it.
  • I am quite happy for a complaint to be upheld and whatever moneys we get thereafter go straight to pay the balance. That seems quite fair to me.

Thanks for the reply none the less

No joke .... banks have done a lot of things in the recent and not so recent past.
With respect, I would not spend my time writing the longest shittiest joke ever about PPI.

I just wanted answers to simple questions.

If you have found a document that shows evidence you had PPI why didn't you know you had PPI?
  • That’s a good question.. I was motivated to look at first and much later on compellled into action because I heard that some of the charges were hidden.

Also... regardless of who is at fault, I have paid for something that I never used. That’s actually enough motivation for me to try. Even the great fearless leader :money: says that even if I wasn’t sure, that to put in a complaint anyway.

    So I thought why not......

Saying you didn't know you had it when you yourself have evidence that you were told you had is not going to fly.

Not using it is not a valid complaint reason either...I haven't used my home insurance in all the years I've had it.

Having PPI is not a complaint reason.
