My wife is undergoing Cancer treatment.Big Time. Her Surgeon is foreign, her Primary Care Nurse is foreign.I have faith in them and their skills. If I don't my wife dies.
Well it's far more important that your wife has faith and I wish her the best, but even then the UK rates quite poorly for cancer survival than the rest of Europe. I was lucky I was based in Switzerland when I had my own battle to fight.0 -
those who just come here to clean cars are not.
Better get used to washing your own. No UK person will do it, just like they wont pick the fruit and veg in the fields and farms.0 -

I'm sure there will be guest worker visas for such jobs, but with the pound being so cheap the jobs might not be that attractive to EU workers. So maybe workers from other countries in Africa and SE Asian will fill the void.“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”0 -

I always clean my own car as I like it done properly, I know too many people that moan about having it done at a Boswash and it wasn't done very well.
As for farms, well bring back pick your own and move over to mechanised picking.0 -

Interesting shortly after the referendum when the pound dropped in value, there was a mass exodus of eastern europeans from this country because of the exchange rate, there was less money to send home.
It highlighted how exposed employers are, where there was a higher mix of EU workers. To survive I would suggest employers need to alter the mix of workers to more UK based and increase wages rather than attract cheap labour.0 -
My wife is a nurse and a few of her colleagues (Spanish & Polish) in the last two years have decided to move away from the UK for their next job opportunity as they have no idea if they'll be eligible to work in the UK after Brexit.
Whatever you "are" Remain/Leave it's hard not to think the way the govt have proceeded has been awful. If it's true that nurses etc. would be welcome, then enshrine it in law, or make a big deal of it. They haven't, they've just made vague claims about 36k per year.
My wife is one of 8 nurses on her ward, and one of only two Brits. Ticking time bomb.As of 24/11/2020
Mort: - £98,200
CCds: - £1,568.18
Loan: - £0
Savings: - £3,500.000 -
Why are people who clean cars not welcome? If they pay tax what’s the problem? I can’t believe UK people will want to wash cars.
Not good enough for a brit to do so well get those dirty foreigners to do it, they wont mind, theyll take alt.
Yehhh..... im the little englander.
Personally id think it was a job for teenagers and students.0 -
In all seriousness over here in the Fens not a lot of UK people out in the fields doing manual bending down work. You do realise that what youre are saying is xenohobic and racist?
Yes as farmers - had four farmers harvest most of the fields around here. yes that's four (two families)!
But the non automated veg pickers or the sorters - very few are UK
There was a C4 programme based in Wisbech about this a few years ago, some of the locals joined but left as it was too hard.
I don't envy them - although I going to miss the additions to the Fenland gene pool. All those six foot tall blonde people coming in with the correct amount of fingers and toes.0
