Well, you can always move back to the country and get the pension uprate to the full amount? ;) Sorry but I got little sympathy for expat pensioners as this is one of the risks they should be fully aware when they retired aboard.

I feel brexit has generated a huge amount of uncertainty and harm and to a degree I sympathise to a degree.
However why do you think expats should be prioritised over UK residents e.g. workers, in the guarantees they get?
Don’t expect huge amounts of sympathy as this is affecting everyone and I don’t think expats who’ve left the country should be considered a priority over others who live here and contribute here, yes you contributed in the past but you chose to leave.
  • Are you staying abroad permanently? Then call yourself what you are, you're an immigrant :)

Yeah, you got that right. :) Expats and Immigrants are exactly the same, just that each word is associated with a specific context.

Inflation isn't as high in Europe. Why should UK taxpayers subsidise Expats.
  • I think its rather unfair to those who have paid in the full whack of NI contributions in the UK, moved to retire to France or Spain or the like and then not receive an uprated pension thereafter.

The government really is making like as difficult as possible for those people as they can.

The term 'Little England' comes to mind.

Lots of people are not getting what they expected.
    Mainly due to increased longevity.
My pension age had been raised from 60 to 67.

Brexit will be bad for lots of people but Why should expats be a priority?

I wonder how many of them were leavers?
Wouldn’t it be ironic of the majority of them voted leave?

I've always felt it rather unfair that pensioners moving to Canada and New Zealand have their pensions frozen.

And anomalous that pensioners retiring to Florida do get annual increases.

But its all down to bilateral agreements.

So the status of UK pensioners in the EU will be consistent with those in other countries. If we enter into bilateral agreements - both sides agreeing - then pensions will continue to increase.

No longer contributing to the UK economy though.

Don’t pensioners in general have to pay UK income tax on their pension income?

(I’m aware of rules in Portugal that requires a 5 years residency requirement and an arrangement in France)

Having said that if we/they want to benefit from these bilateral agreements then they have to accept any downsides of leaving as well.
