Blimey so busy! Money this month is out of the window, have spent so much..... uniform, birthday costs, hotel cost, fuel etc. Obviously all the work expenses will be repaid next month, but I must remember to build into my budget that August is an exceptionally spendy month.
I haven't updated ynab for a while and need to get on top of it tomorrow,
Some good news:
* DD exam results were as expected and amazing, we're very proud, 10 A*, 1 A and a Distinction for Welsh Baccalaureate.
* DS birthday tomorrow, going to forest climbing in the trees activity then they're coming back for pizza and a sleep over!
* We're all ok.
Will update properly tomorrow when I'm hiding from the 4 lads taking over the house!

Sounds like you have a lot to celebrate in your house. Congrats to your DD.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Evening Forum Folks, well another week passes in a blur. I have been non-stop for 3 weeks and have another full on 2 weeks to go including my huge event. Then I can relax for a bit, I'm going to book October half-term off work and do absolutely nothing!
DS birthday went really well, his friends had a great time and so did we.
I'm on a night shift so had a few minutes to update ynab, not been on since 6th August oops! It has been a very expensive month and I've just remembered I need to get home insurance as mine has expired, I cancelled auto-renew as it was hugely more expensive than last year.
I should get my expenses payment either Monday or Tuesday which will bring me under the £1k mark, my expenses for this month are huge and when I get paid it next month I can pay off the balance of the card along with an additional small payment. It will be exciting to finally get rid and start putting that money towards other things.
I'm not sure if I will be able to pay off the loan before Xmas as thinking ahead I've still got school fees to pay, dd birthday and some other bits. I will try though, would be lovely to start 2022 debt free.
We will have to replace our tumble dryer at some point as it's not working in the sense that it's not drying at all, so my job for this week is to get it out of the shed and in the front garden to be collected by the council.
Nothing happening in the house, changed my mind again and leaving the bedroom so we can concentrate on getting the guttering done. I need to work out what else we need to save for and redo a budget.
* School fees ongoing
* Guttering
* Ensure dd trust fund is up to at least £1000 before 18th birthday - November 2022 - needs about £300
* Ensure ds trust fund is up to at least £1000 before 18th birthday - August 2026 - needs about £500
* Hit first target of emergency fund £1000 - currently £400/£1000
Right better go and do some checks, H x

Good evening, another week gone and have been flat out. Looking forward to Sunday and Monday off to pack my kit for my event but otherwise relax. House is looking disgusting though so might spend tomorrow afternoon cleaning - how exciting!
Took the kids out to the local zoo this morning, felt guilty that I've just worked over the summer and not spent a huge amount of time with them. The main road coming back was so busy with holiday traffic I'm glad I don't have to drive anywhere this weekend.
I need to update ynab again in a minute, paid some off credit card and am pleased to be finally under £1k. As mentioned my expenses to be paid next month will pay the balance plus one bit of income on 7th September so not going to throw anything else on to it.
I've not sent anything over to the savings pots as paid for home insurance in full (cash back not showing at the mo) and need to try and have a quiet month in September.
Hope everyone has a good bank holiday weekend, H x

Hi HM. Hope the zoo was fun. My y house always needs a good clean and tidy if it's any consolation. Find time to have fun... I amAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

And breathe... so my big event has been and gone I was really stressed last week trying to prepare and sort out kids going to school, plus work too. I didn't manage to complete the whole thing but I gave it a good try and I raise a lot of money for my club so pleased over all.
One of things that stressed me out last week was realising that I had to get dd an ipad for school from their own supplier. My own fault for forgetting. After paying the fees for the first term we had nothing left and no option to get finance through the company. My parents have come to the rescue so we now owe them £1300!
I need to use the child benefit coming in tomorrow so the card will be a little bit longer to pay off but I'm still planning to pay the big chunk off it when I get my expenses.
I'm picking up some extra shifts at second job, originally to have some extra for Xmas but now to pay back the parents. I need to get some little bits coming in again from surveys, amazing how it adds up.
Feeling like we've taken another step back and the house looks like a wreck, trying not to worry too much as dd is loving her first few days at school. That's what matters.

It`s very easy to become disheartened when the debt repayment feels like snakes and ladders but just look what you`ve achieved to date! And as you say DD is content which is priceless. x2
