On a night shift so logging on for a few minutes until my next scheduled call, a couple of good wins this weekend. I decided that whilst I was waiting for the plasterer to get back to us (still no news) that I would start looking for furniture for our bedroom, we needed 2 x bedside tables and 2 x chest of drawers. I've been having a quick look on FB market place and then suddenly yesterday the perfect bedside tables popped up and I was able to collect straight away. £30 and they are brand new, never been used. I'm trying to source the matching drawers but no luck so far.

Second win was I want to get our water butt back up and need a cover for it, I was looking at replacement lids and then suddenly had a brainwave of using some of the weed control sheeting and a couple of bungies to keep it in place and hey presto! I've found the drain pipes that have come away and will ask my Dad to help put it back up.

YNAB updated, slightly over spent with fuel but will claim this back from work. Main pay day is next Friday so more shifting of funds to various pots.

Shed was due to be delivered on Tuesday but now pushed back to Thursday, let's hope it actually arrives then as I want to crack on and get both sheds sorted.

    H x

  • Brilliant bit of luck with the bedside tables, i'm on the lookout for a pine double bed frame for DD but no luck yet.

Afternoon! Shed has arrived which is lucky after having the email it was coming on Thursday, good news though as it would have been a pain organising someone to be here as I'm out teaching in the morning.

If you don't hear from me for a while, I'll be under this lot!

Pay day on Friday, will update bits and pieces then. Hopefully getting a new child attend this evening at club so another place filled.

    Enjoy the sun!

Good morning, shed is still in the same place hubby is planning to do on Saturday as the weather is bad at the moment. I'm not sure what's happened to him, he's always been terrible at DIY but now he's checking drill bits and planning his schedule!!

Pay has gone in a day early so I've moved money to the various savings pots, great to see these build up slowly but surely. As it's the middle of the year I thought I'd do a summary of progress and see how far we've come with plans for the next 6 months.

In the last 6 months we have:

    * Had my second job made permanent
    * Own business restarted and a second session started - I'm still owed £100 from this and then will work on getting in the green.
    * Paid for car insurance, breakdown cover, car repairs in full using the money in the appropriate savings pots.
    * Nearly saved the first terms fees for dd new school.
    * Emergency fund up to £350 - first goal is £1k
    * Paid off the car finance
    * Got a shed
    * Paid nearly half my credit card off.
    * I have money for Xmas

Very pleased with that, there are still some things to be sorted:

    * Need to do better with food budget, an ongoing battle
    * Pay car tax in full from January 2022
    * Check when dh mobile contract finishes and move to SIM only, this will mean all own phones will be on SIM only.
    * Loan finishes Feb 2022 at the latest
    * Service plan finishes Aug 2021

Just on the car, we had some advisories from the last MOT and it would have cost us £300 in repairs so we had another garage put it through a pre-MOT and it passed with one minor advisory so they put it through as done and so the service plan will just pay for a final service instead. Hate when people try and fleece you out of money when you can't look at the repairs yourself.

Also to sort this year is to get the work done in the attic and bedroom, I'm still waiting for a reply - he's lovely but busy. We also need to get more saved towards the guttering as I'm not sure it will last another winter.

    See you later! H x
