Ah a little while since I posted and not a lot going on, ds had his birthday yesterday and had a friend over for a sleepover.
So where are we? Well as expected August is proving to be a very expensive month but so far we have managed although I may not have any savings left at the end so September might be the reset button!
Work: Absolutely no news, no contact from anyone except tagging me in social media and am starting to get emails from people but I'm not responding - I'm not working so why should I respond, I continue to wait. It's now 4 weeks since the end of the consultation period and nothing has happened.
Finances: I don't feel like I've made any progress this month except the minimum, I haven't paid anything off the credit card but must make the next monthly due next week. Loan payment went out yesterday and have updated, next week is payday and next payments to car and loan 2. However we did have our car in for MOT and service, had the usual call that it needed work doing but fortunately only one thing needed doing which cost £127 and the other work is advisory before next year which will cost £250+ so glad it wasn't the whole lot!
Both the kids now have lovely bikes, I have spread the cost interest free so the first instalment has been paid with another one in September and October.
The plumber was due today but when he didn't arrive I phoned him and he had forgotten, to be honest it suits us better as he's coming on payday so I won't have to move money around.
I need to get back on top of things from tomorrow as the plan is still to pay off loan 2 I just need to work out the budget so we don't leave ourselves short for the month:
* Update budget
* Check what clothes kids need for return to school
* Pay the plumber
* Unlock online account for washing machine payments
* Check what dh needs for his trip in September (can't wait for him to go and have a break!)
* Check surveys and TCB nearly due for a payout
* Plan club sessions for when we return next week
Hope everyone ok, H x

Do you think 44 is too old to have a dream and start something new when you have no money but an urge to get on with things, is a little place in the country too out of reach for us, a pipe dream or something that could happen if we plan and break it down into chunks to be able to achieve it? Pondering what we could be doing rather than sitting around waiting for the next pay day, not taking advantage of where we live just because it might be a little bit busy at the moment, waiting on other people to give you the go ahead instead of seizing what you have now and making those decisions yourself.
I've been thinking about my business and starting to plan for a return but also to change the name so that it reflects what else I want to do which is delivering workshops to adults and the name I have now just isn't suitable. Is it a pain to change it with HMRC, I need to look at insurance and getting some additional qualifications to run them (not all with a cost) - these aren't things that a barriers but need to be done piece by piece to get to that goal.
I'm fed up or this rollercoaster of emotions, I messaged my boss this morning asking for any updates and no reply so far, neither have my colleagues. So I'm saying f*** it I'm in charge, if I still have a job in whatever capacity then great but in the meantime I have things to do!
Here is another list, I like lists!!
Home - sort out items that need to be got rid of / donated and do it, start saving for guttering and also find out cost of putting in a shed so we can store our bikes and make our kit more accessible. After that bedroom!
Finances - stop messing around, pay off loan this month, watch the remaining budget, next month pay off washing machine and VR finance plus see if I can squeeze in an extra payment to car.
Personal - I need to increase my fitness ready for my challenges next year and also be a better role model for club.
Business - I have already contacted someone about a course I need to do plus need to look at additional top up training, contact HMRC and bank about potential name change, contact insurance about new delivery model. Waiting for call from leisure centre about some questions I have about starting my group.
Time to start doing things for me and my family, let's get on! H x

Evening all, so things are cracking on here. Boss phoned yesterday and he said we should be getting back to work in the next few weeks as more and more starts happening, no mention of any changes with hours so will just wait for next organisational announcement. Things have also been moving in terms of plans, I spoke to dh about my dreams and for the family and he loves it so need to keep the momentum up to work towards the first goals.
Spoke to centre where I hold my sessions and looking to hopefully restart mid-September, I need to phone insurance company next week to change the details of my cover to include the new part and submit this to the centre - I've already provisionally booked my dates for the sessions. Still need to think of a new name for the business but I'm rubbish at names! I've found a course that I need to do for the new part of the business, it's in October so not far away.
Home - dropping off the kids old bikes at a youth organisation tomorrow, the Manager is the kids old childminder and a fantastic lady who does a lot in the community. I'm going to ask there is they might set up a books and games recycling area so people can donate books and games and take one from the stock. Obviously difficult to manage at the minute but would love to do this.
Spoke to dh about the area for the new shed and we're going to look at what we need to start getting rid of the paved area etc.
Tip visit booked for Monday to get rid of the last bits of rubbish from the garden and then need to organise for the old dishwasher to be collected.
Finances - All waiting for pay day and dh pay day and then really bring the total down. I need to go through school uniform with the kids next week and have one birthday and anniversary in September. I've booked myself an appointment with a sports therapist to hopefully start sorting my shoulder. DH has made a list of the final things he needs for his trip and we've ordered some paid for with vouchers from survey sites.
Personal - run done with dh earlier and now off for a walk with dd as she's crazy and wants to go out in the wind!

44 is young to me now definitely not too late. We are planning our move for after DD is 18 by which point we will be 51. It will depend a little what she does next but don't want to live where we are forever.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

A start of a new week and have achieved quite a few things since Friday including during the walk with dd on Friday we chatted about potential new names for the business and after a few laughs and some inappropriate suggestions we agreed that it should be generic and therefore I don't have to change according to the service I'm offering. So it's my initials followed by one word relevant to my job. I checked on HMRC after submitting my tax return and as I'm a sole trader it just goes under my name, also phoned the bank and I just needed to send them a letter asking for the changes and it will be updated within 5 days of receipt. Letter already in the post.
Had a lovely weekend kids and I went for a long walk / they were on their bikes on Saturday, then yesterday we went for an exploring walk which got a bit extended as we took a wrong turn but it was all good fun and we were all shattered when we got home!
Home - rubbish taken to the tip this morning so just need to book for dishwasher to be collected, plumber has messaged saying he'll be here in the morning, we had a look under paving slab that we want to take out and seems to be an edging of bricks and the middle just filled with rubble. The first bit will be finding out where the water for the terrible fountain the previous owner put in is plumbed in to, we can see a thick black pipe but no idea where it leads.
Finances - finally pay day tomorrow then things can getting moving again, I did win £20 on an ad hoc purchase of a scratchcard today.
Personal - aching after yesterday but dh and I went for a run, just need to do Pilates app before bed. I think tomorrow will be a strength session as the weather is due to be bad.
Love being busy again! H x

Credit card payment made of £65, a couple more days and the total will be in the £6ks - YAY!0

Panicked this morning as my alarm didn't go off and when I checked it was 0815 and the plumber was coming at 0830! Still I managed to be presentable before he arrived, anyway he has sorted all the pipes under the kitchen sink and advised on a part that we needed to replace in the toilet cistern, easy enough to do ourselves. The vibrating pipes are a bit more difficult as hard to know where they're causing the issue without ripping up floor boards etc. Anyway since he's been they hasn't been making the noise when the washing machine fills but they did after dd used the shower. We'll see if changing the part in the toilet makes any more difference.
Finances - So a spendy day so far:
* £145 for plumber
* £116 for house insurance (full year cover)
* £10 for toilet part
Also a bit of food and some other bits for dh trip, kids are going through their uniform to see what needs buying - so far ds needs a jumper, shoes, trainers and dd need some stationery and some black socks. I must update ynab to make sure we stay in budget.
I've also been sorting out bits for club starting tomorrow just need to do a session plan and register.
Home - need to fit part for toilet, when the weather improves start looking under fountain area to see where it's plumbed in, start saving for guttering.
Personal - run group later if the weather doesn't get worse again. Physio appointment in the morning.

Good morning, excited to see the next payment go out this morning, car payment done and loan 2. The loan is showing as a total of £1005 to pay off in full so when I get home from the physio later I will update ynab and hope we can stretch out our pennies this month as I really want that gone.
We're in the £6ks and hopefully this time next week we'll be in the £5ks!
See you later, H x
