Some good news today!
Have been waiting for a paed appt since Sept and finally got one for the beginning of Dec which was cancelled and moved to the middle of Dec which was also cancelled and moved to the beginning of Jan.
Anyway after the 2nd cancellation, OH got a bit 'worked up' and phoned the hosp complaining that we had been waiting since Sept already. Lo and behold they phoned back today and can see us on 27 December. Yeay!
Just goes to show if you dont ask - you dont get! x x
Great news penguin. Let us know how it goes and what happens, we are at this stage - just waiting for a date now, they told us it should be weeks rather than months. it would be nice to know what happens or what they say.0 -
Will let you know how it goes monkey.
I have got no idea what they will do either - just glad to get the ball rolling!
My little man got stuck behind the christmas tree tonight. Didn't want to say the wrong thing in case he had a tantrum and pulled out wires and he was just giggling at me. Eventually had to tempt him out with a piece of cheese!Pay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

LOL, I can just picture him now!! How old is he?0

He will be three in March and my daughter will be five in March. She is very protective of him but he just has no sense of danger. We are constantly signing accident forms for him in nursery but he never seems to cry bless him - he just giggles and its so infectious you cant be angry at him! xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

I've received a CAMHS appointment this morning for my DS to see the Clinical Psychologist for autistic screening. He's been on the list for nearly 12 months. The OT at CAMHS said that she'd be really surprised if he doesn't come back on the scale but it all depends on how he is on the day. Appointment is in February. Eek. Does anyone know what sort of thing they do at this assessment? The letter said there was a leaflet attached, there wasn't! So just wondering until the leaflet comes.0

Hi Carrera. At our CAMHS appointment, they took us off into one room and asked us lots of questions about how Ryan is, how he reacts in certain situations etc. They took Ryan into a seperate room, and he played with some toys whie they observed him and asked him questions.
It was all very friendly and not at all scary. My main worry is that when we went, Ryan was having a 'good' day, and I don't think they will have seen what we see at home. But I'm hoping they are used to that, and will still have picked up on the subtle things he does."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Thank you for the reply
It mentions in the letter that the first appointment they will sit with him in a room and we can watch through a one way mirror - that unsettled me a bit. I know what you mean about catching him on a good day. I have a feeling he'll really make the effort and behave himself how he thinks he 'should' behave. Although at his play therapy assessments she could see how he was reacting to things wasn't normal for a 10 year old - it seemed normal to us0 -
our first assessment was where the ASD was first mentioned as i had thought my son was ADHD. Our CP was pretty clued up and having had many assessments since this one they all seem to pick up on things I dont notice . Go with as much info for them as poss. type out a list of behaviours on a bad day it helps them to get a better picture. All the best in Feb let us know how it goes.0

Hi Carrera,
At our appointment they just asked questions about my sons behaviour etc, and then we went off while he stayed in the room. They just played some games and talked to him I think about what he likes to do, how school is etc. We didn't get to watch but they did videotape it, so they could watch it back afterwards as he said that they cant always pick up everything the first time. The whole thing lasted about half an hour in all. Hope it all goes well for you0
