    What does EEG mean?

(sorry I'm useless with abbreviations, I don't know what SOA means either).:o

Good luck with it anyway :)

    Hi Debbie,

Not easy at times with abbreviations is it.

EEG = Electroencephalogram, a technique for studying the electrical current within the brain.

SOA = State Of Affairs. A listing of all your (usually, monthly or yearly) income and expenditure, it helps so much to see the 2 and to see where savings can perhaps be made. A very good idea and is sometimes quite amazing when you actually see it written out.

actually you can tell the council that since they have not replied to you , you are going to go ahead and contact the lgo, it may take a while but usually the threat makes them realise you are not a push over and their is some redress. it cant hurt to tell the council you are looking into it.

Morning all, thanks for the info on the ombudsman, I am going to dig more info on that out today, got to drop DD off to club and then I'll have a couple of hours to dig around. Got to speak to a friend and ask her for some boxes, it is so hard to know what to pack - if we are in a hostel we are still going to need many things, I am at the point of where I think I have packed as much as I can but actually I ned to pack more. I figured I can use stuff out of boxes now so am going to do that.

I have a huge list of stuff I need to get done before the 14 days is up in case we go to a hostel - this will mean no internet access. Everything is confusing but I'll have another read today. I've sent an email to my MP so hopefully he will get back to me by close of play tomorrow.

I've read that we can stay after the 14 days is up and then mum has to apply to the court for the bailiff to come and evict us, this can be 2-4 weeks and it will happen with possible just a few days notice.

I think it would be different if it was not for the children. I do not want them to see that I am upset else they will wonder why moving is a bad thing and that will set negative emotions in place for them.

So, will take each day as it comes and go from there, each day is another and a chance to get more done. The kids are fighting and I have to go get a bath, off to school club and then friends around this afternoon. I will keep you updated as soon as I hear anything else.

    Thanks xx

PS. Just found the website for the LGO and apparently I have to complain to the council first, it takes about 4 weeks to get through all of their processes before you can go to the LGO. I'll see what the MP can dig up and go from there.

    Hi all.

Just a thought for older Aspies:

My son (28) and his girlfriend (20), both on the spectrum, have just opened the Council Tax bill for my house in the UK where Ben lives.

It's frightened them to death and Ben has rung me up all worried about it.

It's the fact that it says it's a 'demand' and then for the amount it says 'gross liability £945'.

Ben has had to have me reassure him that no, that 'demand ' doesn't mean they want him to fork out nearly £1000 instantly - he had noticed the payment schedule on the back but was just checking - and also that the 'gross' in 'gross liability' didn't mean the same as 'gross' in 'gross negligence' or 'gross misconduct'. (i.e that we were not in trouble and about to go to prison).

He's had CT demands before but I have always, quite co-incidentally, been there to open them for him in the past and have explained things to him.

They have both taken it very literally and it has frightened them.

I may write the Council a friendly letter to ask if the demand could be worded more friendly as Aspies can't be the only people who find it intimidating.

Bluemonkey, I hope you have some success soon with your housing.

Maybe try going to the Council offices personally and staying there until someone gives you some answers?

  • Can I just hijack this thread a minute and ask for someone's views? There's a job in the paper which is basically caring for ASD young people until the age of 21 in a residential home, which I would love to do (OH can get me a job in care at his work, but it's with dementia patients, and I'd prefer to work with younger people).

I will read through this thread, starting now and finishing sometime next month, but is there anything that anyone would say to me, as an ASD person, or relative to one, that would prepare me for the job if I were to (fingers crossed) get it?

    I have done reading too!

  • Thanks, I'd figured that out after the first two pages of stories.

If the young people cover the whole of the ASD spectrum ... not sure what to say! What I find is that there usually is a reason for the different-ness of ASD behaviour: if you can find out or work out what it is, it becomes supremely logical!
